I think it's true that he was ill. Doesn't mean the story is false.

Or we could blend the two together

"Martial had food poisoning so missed his flight and thus had to have light training when he got back"

Makes perfect sense to me

You think a left back who has a sub standard deliviery should have more assists than our winger ?

Yep,stirred up by good ol'Jose from what I remember.
Assists are an arbitrary stat. I think a player who has 865 minutes in the league and averages a goal every 108 minutes is alright by me.

In a professional full time job, you need to provide a sick note from the doctor if you miss your work due to sick/illness.
That’s not even close to true. In school you have to. If you’re an adult and this is required of you then you’ve got a pretty bad boss, or you’ve lost the benefit of doubt and you aren’t trusted.

Wasn't that when his baby mama had complications and so had to stay back?

And now he seems to have been food poisoned so having the runs and travelling, I can see how that would be awkward

All in all, he hasn't done anything of the sort without an adequate reason IMO

Still odd that he didn't contact the club. Actual reasons are unclear this time or if there's even any truth, so benefit of the doubt and all that. Could easily be a paper trying to stir things up with an obvious target.

It’s incredibly easy to not miss a flight. I’ve managed to go my entire life not missing one.

Well, good on you then but I don't wanna overflow this story

Also recall that he had food poisoning according to the manager so that could be a reason, just hope he performs today and finally racks up more assists his chance creation deserves

True that, hopefully he cuts down on such behaviour going forward and not make it a habit if the story's true

Need to try and isolate him with the full back today. Get him in 1v1 situations. More often than not, it will result in him beating his man.

Can see him scoring again today.

According to this, only Sanchez has created more chances per 90 mins at United in the league this season than Martial. Reddit source

Martial created five chances against Cardiff so wouldn't be surprised if under Ole his chances created goes up.

Then why is his assist rate so low this season, if I were him I'd have a word or two to our other attackers or just plain bribe them to put away the chances he creates

Hopefully, he starts racking up the assists going forward in OGS attacking set up

@Adisa, got some quotes on OGS plan to do this with martial?

Would be a relief if we start doing that not by accident but instructions from the manager, playing to your top player's strengths will be key to us salvaging anything from this season..

He created five good chances against Cardiff alone. Sadly, our other attackers aren't as good at finishing as him.

Hence why the bribing is highly necessary

On a serious note though, hopefully having a clinical striker like OGS in charge rubs off on the players soon..

That's not how it works! Professional must act like professional!

May be if you work in a very small company. But in a bigger company especially doing big project getting big payment that's how it works. The manager in your department will trust you and can let you go like that but that manager who trust you can get in trouble from the Administrator payroll.

Man Utd 4:1 Bournemouth
That outside of the foot pass was something else

His new missus has taught him off the ball runs?

"He doesn't have off the ball movement"

So many posters said this. It's just that he doesn't always run off the ball as he likes the ball to feet. Doesn't mean he's not trying hard or has no off the ball movement.

Some people wanted him to do the headless chicken running because they confused good off the ball movement with headless running.

He's always had that good run in behind and it's especially becoming clear because we're an attacking team now.

Wasn't as influential as he can be but very good overall IMO, and a good solid type of performance that we should see consistently from a player with his ability. A big part of such an exciting group of attackers that we have and thank feck Woody chose to overrule Mourinho and keep him here.

Good way to end the duck.
  • Can't play on the right
  • Can't make forward runs off the ball
  • Can't cross
All three accusations have been made against him and all have been disproved in that one video.

Yeah this video had it all.

I especially liked the run because he came all the way from the left side to pop on the right while making his run.

Yeah this should be his consistent level. Obviously you hope for more, but when he's not on it I'd expect him to still have a level of impact he's that good.

It's nice to see him positively influence a game even when it's a fairly bog standard performance overall. Super assist.

Yep. Hes an excellent player who can reach 10/10 but nobody can sustain that, so staying at a high level in "normal" performances like today is exactly what you want.

This performance he put in today is the kind I would like to see more regularly. When he isn't at his most influential, still making sensible runs and contributing to the build up play. I don't expect a 9/10 every game (nor is it realistic) but would like his "poorer" or "below-par) games to be more 5-6/10 rather than 3/10.

He seemed gutted he came off, probably thought he had a chance of scoring in those final ten (which is fair).
Had a good game despite not scoring which is a good to see. He does link up well with Pogba and Rashford.

I thought he wasn't in the game enough today, fair enough there was an assist but he wasn't at his best.

Maybe still feeling unwell.

Fantastic assist and almost got another, needs to keep an eye on Shaw's overlapping runs a bit more though.

Nowhere near his maximum but still delivered an excellent assist and contributed to our attacking play.

He's exceptionally good at picking out his teammates in the box instead of making aimless crosses. Not outstanding today but he's such a skilled, intelligent player.

Glad he still offers something when he's not at his best, the sort of performance we need from our attackers if they're having an off game. The assist was delicious though. He was making some great runs today and linking up well.
