Not really sure why we don't give Martial on the left and Rashford on the right an extended try. I know neither are a great fit on the right, but Mata's essentially a passenger bar set-pieces in games like these.

His "goals per minutes played" would be insane right now.
Brilliant player. I think he should start ahead of Rashford.

Mentioned in the match thread - Really happy with what he's giving us here but don't want to be starting him yet personally.
Rashford was crowded out earlier in the game, which Martial might still struggle with. Happy to see us using him as a 'surprise' tactic that's working well at the moment on a tired team, while building his confidence and goal tally.
Martial is just a better player. I have seen Martial weeve in and out of tight positions. Just watch him vs Spurs. His close control is on another level

Just has to start. Him and Pogba are our most talented outfield players.

Keep bringing him off the bench. Especially away games imo.. and maybe reward him with a start in home game.

He's 21, not 17. He needs to be playing week in week out to improve. There will be no burning out.

2 goals in 2 games, and he basically created the 2nd goal today. If Jose keeps him on the bench any longer it'll be an injustice.
I hear what you're saying....
I guess the only thing we know is that it's a good dilemma to have both options. We'll see what happens.

Bit harsh on Mata lol. Hardly a passenger. He isn't a right winger and it wasn't his best game today but he certainly brings balance to the team and is very good creatively.

This is the Martial of his first season!
Looks sharp, ruthless and in form he's simply class in front of the goal. Would be happy for him to start the next game - great to see him on his way back to where he belongs!

Another great cameo. Should have come earlier because I wasn't convinced much with Rashford today, but never mind great solution from the bench.

We've also seen him on countless occasions turn to absolute shit in matches where the opposition plays a compact defence and all he does is run into blind alleys trying to take on 5 players. He is never scoring that goal in the first half because he is never getting it. We've also seen Rashford get through tight positions too.

Martial did well when came on and nicely taken goal. Lucky he got tackled and lost the ball to Mkhi for Lukaku's goal.

Forgot to say it seems he and Pogba have a little chemistry. Funnily, plays well with Miki at times. Good stuff. Let's hope he keeps improving.

Wanna see this, who's with me? And I'm a fan of Mata btw, but Martial deserves a start, and we can do it without dropping Rashford!

A fresh and eager martial against a worn out defence is just too much to contain. Him coming on as a late sub is like a deadly not so secret weapon. But yeah he should probably start over mata at this point.

In the home game against Leicester he deserves to start ahead of either Mata or Rashford at the moment.

Indeed, it is one thing coming on against a tired team and defence that are pushing forward desperately trying to get back in the game and totally another playing against a fresh and organised defence that has something in the game.

He is in these sorts of games. When he's the de facto right-sided attacker, he naturally drifts inside and allows Valencia to provide the width. In games like today where we weren't getting any joy out wide for a good chunk of the game, all that served to do was congest the middle even further which is what Swansea were fine with allowing.

For team, it's far more important to score the opening goal rather than add a 4th. Rashford again today missed a 1-on-1 and if it weren't for a bit of luck for the 1st goal, Swansea could've really dug their heels in and defended for life in the 2nd half.

For all of Rashfords willingness and running, he just isn't clinical in front of goal. I'd rather have Martial to start and bring Rashford as a sub at the moment. Though both will start games, no doubt.

Rashford can wreak havoc but in terms of efficacy, Martial is a whole different beast. I think he's a lot more talented and can be devastating. Happy to have them both.

You can see his confidence coming back which is great. If we get him back into the form we first seen him in we'll have one of the best wingers in the league

Exactly. Martial isn't getting the chances he has had in the last two matches in the first half of either game which has always been his problem. With an open defence we all know how good he is, its never been his problem. Its can he break down a back line to create the first goal like Rashford did last week. Neither are consistently good at it and struggle starting games when trying to force it against defensive units. It would look the same the other way around too with Rashford coming off the bench to tired and open defences. Both fantastic players and more than happy to have them as our options on the left side.

His contribution in the last two games should be more then enough to earn him a starting spot in the next game. Would love to see a front three with Martial, Lukaku and Rashford against Leicester.

Thierry Henry just nailed it on Mourinho "keeping Martial happy".

I like him as a sub for this reason. We have loads of energy first half to wear out the opposition and then Martial the terminator jump on the pitch to clear up.

Martial is at his best with the extra yard of pace over opposition so makes sense to be a sub. He is a surer bet as a sub than Rashford.

Looking really hungry in these last two appearances. 2 goals and one assist in 25 minutes of football is impressive.

True if Martial can chill out come on and smash it every week the same way Solsjkaer did that's more important than playing full games and having limited impact.
