He quite simply has to start. He's a fantastic player with even greater potential ability.

Im not one for wanting to change a winning team, but Tony has warranted a start next game. He is simply more productive than Rashford and a better player, in better form.

Wow, I just saw him smiling. Rarer than Andy Cole smiling back in the day. Good sign!

Sure starter next week. I hope :nervous:

One of our best players it's as simple as that. Not just his finishing, but the way he came on and linked play with nice simple passes made a big difference.

I think he has to get more than 15 minutes next week. I'm all for keeping him hungry etc but you have to reward deadly finishing like that.

His movement off the ball is still sometimes lacking - I mean coming on 15 minutes to go, he should be making runs down the wing channels for people to play him in, constantly.

Still, can't argue with his dribbling and finishing. Miles ahead of Rashford in that respect.

Keep him mean and hungry. Let him come on in the last 20 mins of the games for a little while. Pleased he took his chance. Just needs to be patient, work on the other aspects of his game that's not great, and keep a good attitude. Once he gets his chance, off the bench or wherever, then he needs to take it as he's done so far.

Don't see any reason why him and Rash can't share a role. They're both young, and we don't need them to burn out.

Clinical finish. Keep this up & he'll be starting.

Mata benched for Martial please (Mkhit through the middle)

Top quality player, one of the best young players in EU.

Great goal. Putting his marker down, looks proper motivated

He looks the same - probably more frustrated if that's possible. Just some can not see his qualities and how he's the most talented player we've had since Ronaldo.

Like Amadaeus said, hard to argue him starting when he's so impactful coming off the bench, but I hope he comes on around the 60 minute mark next game, I just love watching him play

He needs to continue as sub for a few more games. Its' clearly helping him. If he continues like this, he will clinch a starting spot by October.

I think mourinhos played him well so far, but he has to show this when he starts a game. Too often he's given him a chance and he goes back into relaxed mode.

He's looking fired up and hungry so far, let's hope that continues.

Boy is a brilliant talent I hope he keeps on banging goals will do his confidence world of good

He's 21, not 17. He needs to be playing week in week out to improve. There will be no burning out.

2 goals in 2 games, and he basically created the 2nd goal today. If Jose keeps him on the bench any longer it'll be an injustice.

Mentioned in the match thread - Really happy with what he's giving us here but don't want to be starting him yet personally.
Rashford was crowded out earlier in the game, which Martial might still struggle with. Happy to see us using him as a 'surprise' tactic that's working well at the moment on a tired team, while building his confidence and goal tally.

I'll be honest I like him as a sub at the moment, 2 games 2 sub approaches 2 goals, why change it?

Has to start next game. I'm not sure how his touch/short passing will be against 10 men behind the ball but he is too clinical to leave out.

Take away the finish, his play was excellent today. Head up passing it about, working angles which was probably magnified by how poor Rashford was today.
Back to that finish, actually felt like the chance had gone at Pogbas pass as it was pretty poor but 1 on 1 the boy just has ice running through his vains.

25 minutes total in 2 games, 2 goals, 1 assist and he was involved in buildup for another 2 goals...

I can see the logic behind continuing to bench Martial. He's the better finisher so having him coming on against tired legs probably helps increase the chances of us scoring. Though Rashford moves more, his finishing isn't the same so have Rashford tire the opposition defences and Martial come on to finish them off.

If it isn't broke, don't break it.

He's having a great impact from the bench for now, keep it that way. Until there's an overlapping defensive option on that side, it's hard to justify him starting with so static and unwilling to work the fullback

He not only needs to start, he needs to be given the same trust Van Gaal have him. not worried about being subbed or benched next game. We have to have patience with younger players and treat them differently to older ones. Poch said this last season. You have to let Alli have a few bad games but put faith in him as he will find form and you'll reap the rewards.

If he looked pissed off against West Ham, he looked really fired up and motivated today!

Wouldn't surprise me if he comes off the bench again against Leicester. Rashford runs them ragged for 70 odd minutes, and Martial takes advantage of that. His first start of the season can't be far away, but I don't think it's coming against Leicester.

He simply must start after these two cameos, all the directness and trickery of Rashford with an added goal threat.

Martial getting the Mkhitryan treatment. Jose has managed both superbely. Judging by Mou's reaction post Martial's goal, he'll be starting in no time.
