Martial is an absolutely lazy cnut. His lack of proper application is infuriating. Flatters to deceive on the whole. A proper forward would take the chances that fell to him today.

:wenger:

He's the definition of a marmite player, people can't go on about him being on the right either because he was even worse when he went central.

Poor technique when striking the ball, poor technique when running with the ball, it's like pinball (goes anywhere).

I just don't get the hype with him.
This never gets stressed out enough by caftards. If it comes to curling the ball then he's very good but every other way, he's shockingly bad.

Guy needs to quit football for a little while and seek a psychologist. He has the body language of a Sunday league footballer who is definitely talented but is having a bad day. There was one occasion in the match, where he looked exasperated and was gesticulating his arm because a ball went slightly askew. Had he been focused, he'd have picked it up.

Yeah that's bollocks. All people do is defend his shite. fecking call it out.

Last person I'm going to take advice from on Martial is you, you're an agenda poster with regards to him and always have been.

People are rightfully very upset after that game, but he is only to blame for not putting those away.. that said, he did aim for corners with the finishers, got in some great positions and was probably our most penetrative player all game.

He was picking the ball up and trying to make things happen and not just go for the cowardly option. He outperformed Lukaku, Pogba, Lingard.

Last guy to be getting stick after that game when usually he's one of our most incisive finishers. Could easily have had a hat-trick on a good day for him, he was involved throughout the game and didn't go missing. Only flaw was the fact it didn't go in the back of the net for him. Sanchez finish was way worse, open goal and delayed the shot.

United player of the month for 3 of 6 months this season yet he's shit.

Some of you lads need to lighten up.

Yeah feck off with that agenda shit. Bollocks was he better than Lukaku. Sick of this shit from people who refuse to criticise him.

Who was creating more, who was the one who looked more likely to score, who beat more players one v one?

Sure as hell wasn't the big donkey up front. Remember Lukaku beating some guys on the touchline and letting out a big cheer, out of surprise.. that shouldn't be happening with a £75m purchase whose being backed to the hilt by the manager.

What a fecking joke.

Yeah, he was better than Pogba and Lingard, but they were fecking shit as well.

The reactions out here while he was still one of our better performers on the pitch, made things happen. He should have scored though no excuses there. But what about that Sanchez miss from empty net? No reaction, oh yes hes our new shiny tool. They both should have scored, not today sadly. Simple as that.

Hoping for better tomorrow.

Getting a bit fed up of his lack of consistency now. He hasn't had a good game in a while now and this is starting to look like what his career will end up being. A cheap Nani.

Without Martial, we wouldn't have looked anywhere near scoring. Take Martial out and lets see how threatening we would look like with Sanchez behind Lukaku.

Lukaku fecking put a chance on the plate for Sanchez. You're a fecking joke mate.

You just know some folks have been waiting for this moment. He was scoring almost every match and winning us games before Mourinho shunted him for Sanchez...

How is Sanchez his replacement on his left (and new shiny toy) doing?

One of the most overrated players in european football

Eh? He's been comfortably the best attacker in the team since he joined, that's not even up for debate.

The only thing matters on a bad day is score a goal. He had not 1, not 2, but 3 clear shots on goal. Should be benched and rightfully so.

Did our attack get better with him compared to our attack with Martial? No, got worse actually

Did our results get better with him compared to our results with Martial leading our attack? No, got worse actually.

Martial was our best attacker before Sanchez joined and our results were better. Sanchez has been good but he certainly has not improved us so far.

Made two good runs that he failed to finish off, the header wasn't easy but he should have scored the one where Matic played him in, he's not offering much on the ball when played on the right though, none of his trademark driving runs as he's clearly not comfortable on that side.

If people can defend him after the finishing today, they can defend him after anything. Haven't seen a more overrated player on the caf.

He missed chances. I can accept that - particularly from a player that has saved our skin in recent weeks through brilliant finishing.

I watched Raheem Sterling miss an open goal the other week. It didn't cost City. This is because City create lots of chances that can allow for misses. Sterling, historically sketchy in front of goal, could afford to get away with it.

I know where I lay the blame, and it isn't in a typically reactionary player thread like Martial's - a player who has been one of our best players this season.

This is the most basic way of looking at it possible, Martial was the worst attacker on the pitch against Spurs (on both sides). Looked barely interested when he came on against Huddersfield. Today was his first performance of late that I thought he looked decent and he still missed three chances that could have won us the game.

Could have changed the result today had he put away any of the chances, but no way would I put a loss to fecking Newcastle down to him. Easily one of our best players on the pitch in every other department.

It quite frankly pisses me off that the Sanchez acquisition - as good as he obviously is - is shifting our next best attacker to where he has nowhere near the same effect. He’s like robben in the sense that, you know he’s gonna drive and cut in, but there’s feckal you’re gonna do about it almost every time.

You mean the game City drew 1-1?

I don't mind his one on one miss, happens for even the best. What I don't understand is when he was on the right, his movement was good. For that one on one chance, he made right move but when he was shifted to left wing, ball was in the middle to right side and the whole play was congested, he was standing hugging the touch line on the left. Why he never makes the run is beyond me. Add that to his game and his game will be on another level.

Shit, you're right. I'll take that one on the chin.

My wider point still has merit, mind. City players can get away with poor finishing like that and still win games because they create so much more.

I'm not going to kneejerk my way through a player thread of a very good player just because they missed some chances. It happens.

They were massive chances and his overall play was not very good either.

And massive changes get missed. You create more. Sanchez missed an equally great chance but I'm not going to get on his back because I know how good he is.

He has a huge following on here and at OT and to be frankly honest he probably doesn't deserve it. He is a very talented player but his inconsistency is out of control. Nani used to get killed by our fan base and he was twice the player Martial is at present.

Yes, but he only missed one and his overall play was better... this isn't just one chance Martial missed whilst having a good game overall. He was just not good today.

What basic way? I'm just stating facts that are true and you are struggling with them because they don't seem to suit your opinion.

You are only making my point for me. Before Sanchez signing, Martial was in the form of his life scoring almost every match (he scored in 3 consecutive matches). We were winning our games (we won 3 PL games in a row and Martial scored in every one of them). Without his performances all through the season and especially in January, we would not even be in contention for top 4 never mind 2nd position. Check our results.

1. Martial got worse since Sanchez introduction probably because Mourinho shunted him to the right and even benched him at times. Our attack got worse.

2. Sanchez introduction certainly has not improved us so far. We have actually gotten worse.

Why is Martial to blame?

Suggesting that Martial didn't have a good game is fine. I don't take issue with that in isolation.

Some knee jerk reactions in here. Unfortunately he wasnt clinical today to save our bacon. It happens. We dont create enough chances with our build up play so if a player isnt clinical for one game in the little chances we do create thats fair enough.

Andy cole was notorious for missing lots of chances - difference being he was in a team that created more for it not to matter.
