He is no 9 for me. I hate we are wasting him on the wing.
Martial was poor today. Didn't seem interested at all - can see why Mourinho gets frustrated.
Mind you Rashford has been poor as well and he never seems to get hooked.
Agreed. Rashford is better at tracking back and showing for the ball. When Martial isn't brilliant he's a passenger at the moment.I find Rashford's poor is a better level than Martial's, who goes invisible. Not seen the whole game today so don't know if it applies this time.
Exactly, our passing is so pedestrian and poor and our opponents always seem to be a step ahead in snuffing out the danger. Can't fault him and Rashford much when we barely ever get them the ball with a chance to run at defenders.
It's always at the half way line with 3 defenders attached to their hips.
Crap today. Our attacking play doesn't really seem to help our attackers, City's, Tottenham's and Liverpool's passing is so superior and quick their attackers often find themselves one v one against defenders, whereas Martial and Rashford often have to beat 3 defenders to even put in a cross. It's diabolical coaching.

Yes they have but you still have to concede their attacking is far more superior to ours. There are plenty examples of Liverpool and Spurs failing to break down shite teams at home.

Funny thing is GD tells a different story.Yes they have but you still have to concede their attacking is far more superior to ours.
Do you have a spreadsheet which tells you what excuse to bring out when someone criticizes Martial?
ASHLEY YOUNG was running their fullback ragged and you are saying Martial had 3 defenders attached to his hips. Martial just waits and waits and waits for the ball and when he gets the ball he just waits and waits. Ashley Young gets into good positions, takes on his man as soon as he gets the ball, then puts a cross or shot in.
Some people are too blinded to notice, but Martial randomly stops after he beats a man instead of carrying on his run, which gives the the other team time to get numbers back. Then he cuts inside and runs into a dead end. His decision making is not good enough yet.
Cool down edge lord. Ashley Young gets to run them ragged because he's not getting marked like Martial and Martial takes defenders with him when he moves infield.
Martial is one on one with the fullback quite often, but he dithers and dithers on the ball which gives time for another player to mark him.
He does this in almost every game he plays; he slows down when in dangerous positions instead of speeding up; then cuts inside into a wall of defenders and loses the ball.
It is not to do with ability, because he has the ability to run past players, it is decision making.
False.
Like I've always thought he is extremely one dimensional. Dribbling is all he's got. He's very very good at it but it is still only one dimension. He'll never be the ballon dor world beater that so many like to believe because his all around game just isn't there and there have been no signs of inprovement to it.He was poor today. I also thought he was poor in mid-week. His passing is so hit and miss and he never makes decent runs. If he’s not dribbling past people (which he is often very good at tbf) he contributes feck all. Which is a problem.

Him coming inside provided Young with a lot of space, which he made good use of tbf.I didn't see much of the game but hew didn't look good. We lacked width. Either he needs to stay wide and dribble his way in, or he needs someone out wide to pass to when the centre gets too congested.

He never looks up for it.Martial was poor today. Didn’t look up for it. From what I’ve noticed, he’s too easily taken out of a game. He becomes ineffective if space is taken away from him. He doesn’t go find space for himself. Just stands around and never gets the ball because he’s staying too close to the opposing defenders. IMO, he doesn’t like to work hard in tough games. He fizzles in tough games. He perks up when he’s playing defenses not as organized or defenses who have been worn down by someone before him, or when we’re up several goals.
