Yeah, in a lot of matches I think he plays too deep.He needs to do that more. I feel he doesn't utilise his pace that much . He is really quick but because he always is on a backfoot kills his momentum.

Indeed. Through various Martial discussion threads I've come to see a lot of ignorant posters on these boards.Anyone with an iota of intelligence would know how good Martial is. Some over here just don't know football
Thats been clear since his first minute at the club. Give him the ball and let him do the talking.
Turns it up and brilliant moves by him.
Should have never been taken off, I feel like he was the most likely to make something happen today.
And yet Jose does not manage a set up where his skills are utilized in the best wayThe most effective out of all our attacking players by some distance.
He also looks on the verge of an iconic game on of these days, he's been playing consistently well and he's getting more of the ball (still not enough but there's a clear improvement). He looks really up for it and is enjoying his football. He needs to fully settle in a set starting eleven and that iconic performance will come sooner than later.I think he is on the verge of establishing himself as something of a regular in our XI now. Truth is truth, and no manager will be able to justify leaving him out with any sort of regularity at the moment. He’s very obviously our best forward player for me, and him and Pogba are also the two main players who can guarantee that watching us isn’t a completely joyless experience.
Credit to Martial and also credit to all of the posters who appealed for patience earlier in the season when people like myself thought his marginalisation would be more prolonged, and eventually, fatal to his United career. Still early days, but the tide is turning I feel, and once the press start getting behind it, which they are now, it will be harder to leave him out.
His lack of movement is a major issue and he needs to work on this.
But he seems to get subbed off even when performing better than others. Lukaka was very poor last night but Martial who created so many chances and nearly scored himself is subbed off.
He actually does cross like that quite a lot ever since he has been here. It’s quite an intresting cross, seems to put a lot of top spin on it so it comes down at an arc. It’s a weird one but looks really effective.I've noticed recently that he has started cutting inside and quickly crossing the ball in from the right. He never did this much in the past, so it must be a clear instruction from Jose. He seems to be able to cross consistently in the same kind of area, and always seems to hit it with the same trajectory and pace, so hopefully Lukaku can start making the correct runs to make the most of it.
His cross tonight really should have been finished by Fellaini.
He created 3 chances. Given the way we played which was to control the game with purposeless passes mostly to keep possession, the game was flat and a busy game wasn't going to happen. Though as an attacking player creating of chances is what mostly needed in such scenarios and he created the most and clearest by far.I thought Martial didn't play well most of the time he was on the pitch yesterday. But same can be said of many of the other players. Rashford and Zlatan had just a few minutes but they were poor for that period. Lukaku was very average too. Lingard was totally off.
Yeah, I think his crossing is underrated. I remember quite a few assists from it and occasions that should have resulted in one like last night. He actually does cross like that quite a lot ever since he has been here. Creating 3 clear chances shows a pretty good game to me.
He clearly needs to sit inside a room and watch the movements of neymar , hazard, ronaldo, sanchez every day and study his own movements on the pitch in the final third and improve his deficiencies in the game.
He never gets inside in his fullback without theball even when he can exploit the gaps between fullback and cb with good off the ball attacking runs and positioning.
TrueWhilst that is a fair post, it must be noted that both he and Rashford, for all their flaws and learning points, are having to have right footed, mediocre left backs as their support.. and to make it worse, those average full backs are not instructed to provide width on the overlap and instead they tend to underlap.
Neymar... Alba/Marcelo.. now Kurzawa.
Hazard.. Marcos Alonso
Sanchez.. Monreal/Kolasnic
Now not saying these guys have had top tier full back support, but in general they've had pretty attack minded left footed full backs behind them, which gives them more freedom to cut in. Whereas we have very defensive full backs and no left footers in the squad.
If Shaw had lived up to his potential, it would definitely bring on Martial and Rashfords game leaps and bounds.
True
Shaw even made Memphis look good at times
They had a good bromance going and that is what it should be like.. look at Beckham/Neville, lifelong friends, or Ronaldo/Neymar with Marcelo.
That bond between winger and full back is priceless in creating good interplay down the flanks.. tbh I am struggling to think of great full-back winger relationships in Jose sides. He seems to see them as different compartments.
Perhaps it helps when the wide player and the FB have a natural inclination to attack and are given the license to.They had a good bromance going and that is what it should be like.. look at Beckham/Neville, lifelong friends, or Ronaldo/Neymar with Marcelo.
