Great to see that he's proven his worth to Mou!
Last season Mou would had never ever subbed Rash for Martial in a tight game requiring everyone to work hard like that.

Glad to see him scoring - let's hope this boosts the confidence of the lads.

Martial has made similar runs even in his first season. It's just a myth that he has awful movements. Sure he isn't always on the move everytime and doesn't look busy which affect people perceptions about his movements.

His movements in themselves aren't awful like people love parroting about. He might not be the best at it but neither is he this awful player when it comes to movements
It's funny to me that he scored 17 goals as a 19 year old in his first season in our dour attack under LVG and everyone was predicting him to be the next big thing and now people spout shit about him being 1 dimensional or having poor movement. Interesting how attitudes change around here...

How am I not backing the team? Seriously? I'm far from a mourinho hater by the way. That's just you lying
By lying to the fans and taking Mourinho out of context because you don't like him. I posted the full video twice in two threads, that is providing full context to my arguments. You have not, therefore you can again...

What, it was a bad shot. But he also said "bad shots can be beautiful" he praised martial and it was not damning him with faint praise either. Mourinho has a right to attack certain so called fans who disguise their own hatred of him and agenda pushing as contructive crticism. He's getting the best out of both players, we should be privileged to have them both. Instead we have fanbois constantly bickering. Also we have idiots taking mourinho out of context who are supposed to be Manchester United fans. I'd expect journos and opposition fans to do it, but United fans? Makes me sick. Mourinho was blunt, so what, grow up and deal with it. No one cares about your feelings.

Of course. But it's a forum and i can give my opinion. I think it was a stupid post match interview and I'm one of Mourinho's biggest supporters. So feck off with the self righteous BS.

Give your opinion, I never said you can't. You're still wrong. Lol, self righteous bullshit? Is that all you have to counter my argument? Come back when you have one. Mourinho can't say a shot was a bad shot whilst praising his player but you can say your opinion? Please try to be consistent too.

Two people seeing the same thing differently. Could never happen. One person must be lying or not supporting the club. What a childish stance to take. Grow up

Post the quote in its full context so people can make their own minds up, anything else is fake news.

Bottom line Mourinho should be able to praise Martial without any but to follow up. Heck would just like a proper congratulations and praise to the boy without nothing controversial to accompany it.

The fact that we have to understand meanings or explain away Mourinho poor use of the English language in order to rid away of any slaps in his compliments of Martial is an issue in itself. How about just a compliment and we stop at that.

Stop projecting and stop denying what you did. You know full well what he said but chose to only highlight one bit and present it as if that was mourinhos point when you know it wasn't. And well, your behaviour is anything but supportive.

Ah would ya give up? I called it as I saw it. I'm entitled to do that. Your projecting some sort of anti mourinho thing onto me. I agree with 90% of what he does. Doesn't have to be 100%. Pathetic to run around branding people liars and not real supporters just because you don't agree with them. Worse that your calling people cnuts yet still posting.

Mate stop replying then, mute me. Also, reverse psychology doesn't work.

Right I'm getting hassle over my read on a Jose comment. Anyone else have an opinion on when he said "I don't understand people's reactions, are they red devils?" I took it as a suggestion thst those who question his selections (martial v rashford) may not be real supporters. Apparently I'm spreading fake news. Anyone else know what he meant?

He meant that people obsessing over their favourite players and throwing a paddy when one of them doesn't start should spend their energy on supporting the team.

I'd be a bit worried if Martial got the views of the manager from a newspaper rather than ASKING HIM IN PERSON.

Interesting that whenever someone disagrees with a team selection it's naturally assumed that they are doing it because their favourite player isn't playing. When did this become the thing? It used to be because they thought we'd had a better chance of winning with a different lineup. I think both Rashford and Martial should be starting because they are brilliant players who can win games. Would I be called a fanboy of both or just a supporter?

Mou's quotes, fully transcribed:
Sometimes he starts the match and his contribution is good, maybe not scoring so many times as he is scoring coming from the bench, but he's playing well, the same as Rashford, the same as Lukaku. I really don't understand some reactions by... are they red devils? Sometimes I don't know... because they work amazingly well, and today there were two strikers playing together against three top central defenders, the best we have in Europe, and they had to do the defensive job of pressing them coming out with the ball, which they do really well. Because they have big routines of playing with three in the back. And on top of that they gave solutions to get out of the pressure, to win first balls, to win second balls, their work was amazing. Then Martial scores with a bad shot [laughs], and a bad shot can sometimes be a beautiful one.

Quick reminder that somebody interpreted these quotes as Jose "suggesting people who think he should be starting are not real supporters"

When invited to praise Martial (which he did), he took the opportunity to praise the hard work done by Rashford and Lukaku prior to that. The reference to the fans was just his way of praising all three of his forwards rather than just Martial.

Would never have got inside the box in a 4231 to win the second ball and score.

His strenghts suits 2 up top.

Good important goal today. Hoping for similar impact vs Chelsea , but he'd have to do a lot more to go past courtouis.

It's not questioning team selection thats the issue. It's the fans that make it an 'us v them' between the two that is the issue.

The ones that sit waiting on the Player Performance threads waiting for someone to slip up so they can bump it with 'MARTIAL WOULD HAVE SCORED THAT !!!11!!!' or 'MARTIAL IS SO SHIT' or will downplay what the other has done in order to try and big up their favourite.

There's constructive criticisms to be made of both of them, and neither are the finished article, but both are having great seasons and bringing lots to the team. If your response to that is to try and vilify one of them to get your guy starting then you're a pretty shitty fan. We should just be appreciating that we've got two great talents on our hands.
