He wasn't poor and at least got an assist. He was okay, but the reason is because Coleman had his best game last night. Even Zlatan had no choice but to knock him off.

Coleman on fire! The way he shrugged off Zlatan with ease.

He shoulder barged Bolasie off the ball and Bolasie had to take a time out to get some wind back in his lungs.

That was the only enjoyable part of that second half.

The few chances he got to run with the ball he always cut inside. Would have liked to see him go on the outside to keep the fullback guessing.

Difficult game for him. He had to do a lot of defensive work to cover for Darmian, but he got no help from Darmian in attack. Thus, he had to cover for at least one attacker when defending, and had to try to take on at least to defenders when attacking. Compare that with Valencia's contributions in the other fullback position. If only Shaw could rediscover his mojo!

If you look closer the game, you find that Martial did more defensive works than usually. There were atleast 2 situations in which Martial intercepted Everton's attacking wave successfully with Coleman and Bolasie being left behind.

I think it is a good signal for him, Mourinho would always like a winger having both offense and defensive skills, maybe this last night performance could make Martial become Mourinho's favourite option for starting squad

Loved the way he fought with Bolasie and Coleman. That sort of aggression has been missing in his game for a while.

to be honest I didn't know it was part of his game. That's the first time I really noticed him digging in considering he is supposedly a flair forward, credit to him

It would help if he had at least midtable premierleague LB behind him who doesn't need invitation to overlap. Quite incredible how such a poor player like Darmian survives at United.

Just keep playing him. I'd worry more if his touch was shite or something more fundamental.

His main issue is linking well with his men around him and that can only improve with more game time.

We question him because of how good we know he is and should be.

nothing about scapegoating.
True. He's not had a good first half but not worried with him. He just needs to keep on playing.

I agree it would help, but Martial didn't have or need that last season.

He's been fine. Darmian is doing feck all at LB and whilst Martial's touch/shot has let him down once or twice, he's been lively and getting himself into good positions.

His end product has been shit but he's someone you stick with and wait to come good. Kyle Walker has done well and he's one of the fastest full backs in the league. It'll come.

Mostly his finishing that's been off (also that last shot that he hit over was a very tough chance to take first time, skipped up right before he hit it). Also going inside a tiny bit too often instead of going down the outside of Walker. Walker is a very tough fullback to come up against though. Still happy enough with him today. Definitely not doing poorly though, he's worked hard defensively and still been a threat.

Started the half well, but seemed to make heavy touches and poor decisions as the half wore on. He's still looking more aggressive and lively than he did some weeks ago.

Shaw on the overlap would offer a great deal more threat. He's doubled up on as soon as he gets the ball.

I reckon he's doing alright except in shooting department. Pretty active considering he isn't getting much help from Darmian offensive wise.

I think our left side depends a lot on Luke Shaw. If he gets bombing up and down like prime Evra, it creates that overlap that allows Martial to cut in and give the defenders more to worry about. Right now they know Martial will cut in, so show him outside and he doesnt go to the byline. Disadvantage of him having no left foot.

Keep him on, he's very useful on the counter (especially now that we're 1-0 up) and he's done well defensively. The type of player that can pop up with a moment of magic, it's mistakes like subbing him off now that slow things down and cost us.

I'd take current Evra over Darmian.

I think a more confident Martial takes that down. Very hard for Walker to make a tackle in there.

Needs a bit of time out of the team. Mata has done so much more to deserve a place in the team. Martial still way too wasteful and not disciplined enough.
