Yeah, very much like that, as if he thought Martial pussied out.

That was my opinion at the time and I haven't changed it.

The head injury I don't think was that bad, though of course it's hard to say. The tackle that led to the goal I don't think would have caused any injury, he seemed to be holding his head whilst going off and on the sideline.

He's looked not quite right mentally this season, maybe a hangover from France, the malaise seems to be getting worse and I really think against Watford he took the easy out.

Needs a week or two off to recover from that knock and just recuperate in general. Will be fine when he returns.

He's having a lot of off field personal issues with his Mrs.... Ex... whatever.
Di Maria's form similarly flatlined with off field issues and Rooneys had similar crashes in form when his infidelity issues have been made public in the past.
So yea I think its a mental thing also rather than physical burn out or whatever.

Barney says he won't be available for selection on Saturday. I don't think he's injured. Maybe, he's been given time off.

Wasnt he concussed? A couple of weeks is standard in those cases.

Someone mentioned it in the matchday thread, but I think him missing has played a huge part in that first half as well. He has been pretty poor, and a good break now may do him the world of good.

Martial on form will add even more to this side. Needs to get in gear.

Rashford is the better option for the time being. Martial should start some cup games to try and get himself back in form.

Any link between him being out and us playing this way? Seems to be the prevailing logic here.
He's a bit of a lazy fecker tbh. Purely a ball to feet player. Doesn't run much off the ball. Rashford should retain his place & Mkhitaryan will start on the right.

Are you kidding me? Look at our corners!

That said, Martial when playing poor tends to run down narrow alleys and our play has suffered as a result.
The 'prevailing logic' line read like you were opposing it!

Martial hasn't been great so far this season, so it's probably fair to point out that we're doing better in his absence, but with him I have no doubt he'll be back.

There's more than enough to suggest there's more causation than simply correlation today.

Just one game, its precisely the same situation. You're basically having an argument with yourself from a week ago and i'm facilitating it.

Logic isn't your strong point is it?

Ahh going down the dismissive superiority route again, backed up by literally nothing . I'm not interested in your style of debate so i'm going to leave it there.

Back on topic, fingers crossed his injury isn't bad and he's back soon.

I've already told you that there's more evidence of causation this time and its not just a single change. Is that too much for you to follow?

Last time you were arguing that a lack of change is evidence that Rooney wasn't the problem, and I argued that that one thing alone wasn't sufficient to prove anything.

Today there were a host of blatant benefits that were facilitated by his absence and the changes it enabled. Hence "more causation than just correlation".

If you want to continue this battle against logic then do it in the right thread.

I don't need to feel like the smartest guy in the room, as I said i'm out. So the logical thing to do would be not reply, I know you're struggling with that.

Man Utd 1:0 Zorya
Couple of nice runs when he came on, with and without the ball, no one in the team can run at a defense like Martial, we need to get him into form.

Really need all our standout players to play their best. Imperative this guy can remain regular and putting in performances that we all know he is capable of. The Lingard and the likes will huff and puff with a neat winner at times but will never produce performance of consistent quality that we require to dominate teams.

He looked much better out there today. Clearly needed a rest. Hope he gets a start ahead of Lingard if Miki is still not fit.

Really hope to see him and Mkhitaryan recover their form of last season. Would love to see those 2 + Rashford as our attacking line-up.

Looked better yesterday for the few times he got on the ball. Instead of running straight to the corner, he was passing the ball and made a couple of runs. I guess Jose needs to get the LVG out from his legs the most.

In the previous set up, he had to get the ball and make something happen with individual skill. In this new set up, there are lots of players who can do that, and he doesn't need to be 2-3 men each time he gets the ball. Let's see how quickly he adapts

Playing from the right doesn't suit him but it will force him to vary his game and make him a more complete player

He was playing brilliantly last year, so why should LVG get out of his legs?

EDIT: Nevermind, for some reason I completely missed your 2nd paragraph

I want to see us use him sparingly for a few weeks. Give him a little bit of a break and get a bit of hunger and focus back from him. I think he's still got a bit of a hangover from last season and the world cup and all his personal issues. We'll benefit later on in the season.

Still think Martial and Mkhitaryan are our best wide options, and hopefully we can get them in form as soon as possible. We are improving, but need at least one of our x-factor wide men to start winning games for us like the likes of Sanchez, De Bruyne, Sterling etc.

I think that is obvious and that it is the "long term" plan of Mourinho. Long term meaning when Mkhitaryan is finally fully fit and Martial is starting firing again.

If Martial and Miki start firing again with Zlatan leading the line and Mata in the hole just in front of a midfield containing Pogba with the energy of Herrera at his side, my wet dream will finally be complete.

I'm just praying and hoping that Mourinho's plan is to slowly get Miki back to fitness and form while Matial will soon rediscover his form. This added with the right selection in midfield is something I'm praying happens sometimes soon during this season.

Skip Ibra for Rashford and that could be some amazing attacking Football. However, I do not think that we will ever see such an attacking minded line-up.

Still don't know why Mou puts him on the right when Rashford is equally adept to playing on both flanks.
Good to see that he got over his injury, now back to the all-conquering self from last season please.

Ibra-Rashford-Martial-Micky-Mata, such a promising attacking unit
