As far as Martial and Pogba are concerned, they were both expected to take the Euros by storm and didn't. Particularly Martial, who had a woeful tournament with all sorts of rumours coming out about his head not being in the right place (presumably because of the well-documented drama in his private life). His tricky second season is the continuation of a trend that began before he had ever kicked a ball for Mourinho.

Feck I hope he gets back into some sort of consistent form. Would make our late season run-in so much easier, we've still got top 4 and/or Europa league to play for.
A fit, firing and determined Martial could make all the difference to our end of season run in.
I think a lot of his problems have been attitude rather than ability related this season. Once he gets his "eye of the tiger" back, he'll be fine.

Zero football intelligence. Never uses his pace to offer an overlap or the option in behind. Always comes short. Often into the way of our players. If he can't run into an area with the ball at his feet he's actually quite useless.
I'm done with him for this season. Hopefully things improve next September.

He needs to learn to run off the ball, but he's the least of our problems when playing with Lingard, Rashford & Co. He actually has real talent at least and he is trying to make things happen.
I don't know what's wrong with him. It seems like he just doesn't care. Even in today's game you can see that Rashford was always trying and has been working on different facets of his game whereas Martial has not improved AT ALL this year, in any aspect.
Will never amount to anything if he doesn't use his pace and start running behind the lines.

They played lots of simple passes but never once looked like getting near the goal. Martial wasn't great but he was still running at defenders.

Martial is a young player with poor footballing intelligence. LW/LM is a position on big teams that requires a lot of intelligence and creativity as opponents will regularly park the bus. Martial showed Mourinho can't rely on him to start and win those types games for us. Still think the lad has a ton of potential, but he needs to be humbled and coached. It wasn't even about the intelligence at the end, but rather effort. He just showed no desire. Big problem.

That's the great problem with talented young players. You just don't know whether they have the football IQ to convert their athleticism into consistent results. Rashford and Martial therefore, are still a work in progress. Same goes for Justin Bieber at Monaco.
