Rashford jose needs to understand he is best off the bench, a plan B to zlatan, and no way should lingard ever start ahead of mrtial. Its pretty obvious martial, mkhi and pogba are the power houses to support zlatan, or mata used has a no10 to support zlatan with mkhi and martial rampaging from the wings, we can see jose seeing the importance martial brings, and already the pieces are moving into place as jose is preparing zlatan's long term replacement. But? I hope now carrick is unfit its mata martial and mkhi supporting zlatan on the weekend

The St Etienne defenders will be having nightmares about Martial running at them. His direct style caused them problems all night. Great game and deserved a goal.

I think what Jose will really have enjoyed from him was seeing him track back diligently and even cutting out a pass late in the 2nd half in our own box.
Looks like we'll have a rested Martial firing on all cylinders for us for the rest of the season. Most of the other teams have their 2-3 best attackers on a lot of matches already, we got one fully rested
How fun is he to watch? I spent the second half wishing for him to get more of the ball.
The first time tonight where I've seen glimpses of him getting back to his best. The last few weeks he's shown progress, but he's getting that killer instinct back and his dribbling is getting back to its best.
It's such a sight to behold watching him at full speed. That damn ball doesn't leave the edge of his toe and is dangling like a carrot for the backtracking defender, but the second he flinches to go for the ball Martial takes it away and goes the other way. Unbelievable talent.

Great performance today. Seems like he must have watched Neville on MNF because he pointed out that if Martial dribbled on the inside rather than always cutting onto his right foot he would go up a few levels.

Showing why he's considered one of the best young talents in the world, we have a brilliant player on our hands. Coupled with Mkhitaryan we've got a very good looking attack, the best we've had in a while IMO.
Best player in the team and you can just see how much good the rest did. He needed that after a long season and Euro on top of that. Superb player.

Yeah absolutely, Mkhitaryan and Martial have a very good understanding when he's at number 10 and Mata looks twice the player when he's around, that front three on their day is as good as any we've had since maybe 08/09. Not to mention Ibra ahead of them and Pogba behind.
Made great runs, but it was his off the ball movement and tracking back that stood out to me tonight. Hopefully Mourinho sees the effort Martial is putting in and keeps him in team.

Aye, was just wondering. I was watching him for large swathes and it was just so frustrating that he didn't make a few runs in behind.
Credit to him it he tracked back and had a few electric runs, unfortunate not to score.
It just annoys me that if he just made a handful of runs in behind to give them something else to think about and mix it up it would benefit him and us so much.
For periods today entire minutes went by where he just didn't move for Blind or the CMs.

He had good moments but he started to directly attack the fullback again tonight. It's the little things like his control when dribbling and turning the fullback inside out at top speed which is what sets him apart and it's what I'd been waiting to see again to confirm he's finding his groove again.
He's been slowly building up to tonight's performance recently and there it's still more to come.
