I think we should trust Mourinho in his man management of Martial. He's stated that the press have the wrong idea..that he is happy. Today was a great day for both of them.
Not if he's not showing sufficient effort and positive attitude in training.
I was being sarcastic!. Or was I? Who knows based on this seasons man management from the Queer one
Speculation
We lost a few valuable points while he was dropping him
That's just guesswork.
Pretty much seems to be the case in every thread I've seen him post in.

Like it or not, Jose does seem to be harsher and expect more of Martial (than Rashford for example). But that in itself tells you that he knows Martial can be a world beater, and I reckon he knows how to get him there.
My issue is that you're giving way too much credit to Mourinho. There was no need to go through this whole process. Martial was alright/poor at the start of the season, so I understand the concerns. However, he has been playing this well for over a month now, and Mourinho's justification for benching Martial was the Liverpool game. Which was where he got triple marked and still somehow looked like our best attacker. Not many of you want to mention the games against Middlesbrough and Reading, for example, and the fact that he kept getting dropped after playing well. What's the point in playing yourself into form if you're constantly getting dropped? And what is your issue with my post? I said it appears that he's taken it on board, time will obviously tell. I'm hoping it's a similar situation to Mkhi, although I think he has been as hit and miss as Martial this season.
This was the table before today's game:He's actually been pretty good this year (2017) Think Damian can provide a table to confirm this
I believe the manager knows what he's doing, at least infinitely more so than random forum posters who like to presume he doesn't.
well..we don't know that do we...that is speculation.
And around we go again. My opinion doesn't count. I'm just some random forum poster.
This is a forum. I am a poster on a forum. Surely you are not here telling me my opinion isn't valid on the grounds that I'm a poster, posting on a forum? You're an admin ffs

How do you know Mourinho hasn't been gradually converting Martial into the player he wants ? We as fans see about 10% of the interactions that players have at the club, in training, meetings, etc.
LOL Funny but true. Random forum poster, and he is an admin
But but he hates him!
Its also logic. Managers routinely keep players on the bench for reasons fans may never know about, since they aren't in training.
He hasn't changed his game in any way so the only way that could be true is if he's trying to change Martial's mentality. We're not in any position to comment on whether that was necessary or effective but it's fair to say that's a risky move. Personally I'd prefer he didn't take such risks with one of the most talented young players in the world.
Get a grip. No one is telling you your view isn't valid. Now run along ...
I'm in the same boat. But then again I'm not pretending to know more than Mourinho. Massive difference.
Good game by him today. He started the season poorly thats for sure. But I do feel his handling hasn't been ideal in the past month even when his form has been decent with the lack of minutes, the inexplicably high standards he was held to and public criticisms he was getting. Hopefully that's all in the past now, Jose has made his point or has seen what he wants to see or whatever, Martial can cement his place and we can move on from this.
Sure but you've somehow identified what that reason is. Even though like you say, you aren't in training.
Absolutely. He deserved the criticism he received at the start of the season. I didn't think he did too badly but he wasn't at his best. I understand Mourinho wanting to toughen him up - it's always been his style. But what was different about Martial's game today compared to Middlesbrough or Reading? Why go through this process when a talented player like Martial was starting to produce some very good form? I also understand that it's a long term thing... I honestly think he would have made a big difference in the games we dropped points in recently, so it wasn't worth the risk IMO.Good game by him today. He started the season poorly thats for sure. he left the pitch early though..Guess the media reports are true. Martial's obviously leaving...

Doesn't look happy in that hug at all, Mourinho's clearly forced him into it to make Custis look stupid.
