It's visible how much harder he's worked today and anyone disputing that is lying to themselves.

No, it's not. It's just what you want to believe. He's playing like he always plays, just today he scored goal in PL instead of a cup game. He's probably played better in some previous games too.

Martial didn't do anything today he hadn't been doing for the past year and a half. The only thing Mourinho has done is rather recently inflict some self doubt into Martial with his bizarre man-management.

Rashford has done a great job filling in but clearly Martial is our best long term option for that position.

Well he is our manager after all, whereas you are a random punter on the internet.

Yeah, you are right. We should agree with him even if he puts de Gea instead of Ibra up front.

Your whole approach to this thread has been to discourage discussion. Manager's right. Anyone who suggest otherwise isn't supporting him etc. Forums are for opinions

How do you know Mourinho hasn't been gradually converting Martial into the player he wants ? We as fans see about 10% of the interactions that players have at the club, in training, meetings, etc.

Ok. I'll leave those with the wool over their eyes to it.

... What is the 'the player he wants?' Martial today was the exact same as the Martial of the past season.

Who is discouraging opinions. If you have one, you better be prepared to defend it against those who may disagree with it.

Never mind the goal and assist, but I think his tracking back and intensity today really convinced Mourinho. I could visibly see Mourinho on the sidelines applauding and jizzing himself over a few of his efforts intercepting and tracking back.

Will be like when Mkhi came in after being sidelined for an extended period, he just makes himself unbenchable.

He's been poor this year. Few would disagree with that, which justifies Mourinho's intervention. And low and behold, he's playing well again. Imagine that.

Pretty much seems to be the case in every thread I've seen him post in.

You haven't done that yourself. You've been saying his treatment of Martial has been correct but your only justification has been "because he's the manager"

Part of the reason he was poor was because of how little game-time he got. I'm not really bothered enough to get into this - so it's score one to the Mourinho crew - but you only really have to look through @Damien's posts with the graphs and such, he's set it out quite well.

You can mould a player and still pick him.

That's an opinion as well. Martial has been poor this year and Mourinho has obviously not been pleased with his production, which led to less playing time while things were sorted out in training.

Mourinho's treatment of Martial has been poor. There have been far worse players in our attack getting more opportunities. Mourinho has had this petulance inside of him throughout his managerial career. I really want Martial to stay as he is a class player who will only get better. I hope Mourinho can give him more opportunities

Like one poster stated earlier, Mourinho has manoeuvered himself in a great position, if Martial performs than it's his "treatment" to thank to, and if he doesn't...oh well he doesn't have the "attitude".

I bet you were saying the same about Mkhitaryan. Mourinho is the king, everything he does is good.

His work rate has clearly gotten better. It's obvious Jose expects that out of his game.

Great display today. Looks like he's finally getting back to the form from last season, when he plays like this he should be one of the first names on the team sheet.

That's the inverse of how it works. If he's not training well and isn't producing in matches, then he isn't likely to get more playing time. In such cases, the Manager is quite right to fix the situation in training before reintroducing him into a consistent starting XI role.

The rest Martial's had will be important now until the end of the season. You must remember he played so much last year and the Euro as well so he wasn't back until late july or something? He needed a rest (or dropped). He's a starting player when on form like today.

Yeah, until you start setting double standards for other players and actively calling the player out for no reason.

He's actually been pretty good this year (2017) Think Damian can provide a table to confirm this :)

I think we should trust Mourinho in his man management of Martial. He's stated that the press have the wrong idea..that he is happy. Today was a great day for both of them.

What a ridiculous comment. You only have to look at Chelsea from last season compared to this season with almost the same set of players to see that he can also make mistakes. Whilst he is here at Utd I will support the team to win. When he leaves I wont give a fu about him
