His all around play is coming back, already much more dangerous, running in behind picking great positions, he just needs that goal and he'll be back. Showing great signs, IMO.

Agreed. I said in the match thread that everything looks good except the final ball, be it a shot or cross/pass. It'll come.

Yes like I said, he's improving gradually, game by game. He'll be fecking flying soon, especially now that Shaw is beginning to maraud that flank too.

You can see he's just hesitating a bit too much on his finishes, that's it. Apart from that he looks to thrive much more under Mourinho's counter-attacking style.
 
He frightens the shit out of defenders with his pace and dribbling. What a player!

Him and Pogba are going to leave defenders in a right mess this season.

Also he and Shaw are showing signs of a real partnership.
 
Much much better again in the second half. Could have had a hat-trick. Again tells me, it's a fitness issue.
 
Second half he was pretty good. Still working his way into match sharpness but not far off.

Hopefully his end product improves this season. Should have scored.
 
he is going to be dynamite in this counterattacking set up. Caused havoc when he ran at them.
 
He played well imo. Could have scored a few had he got his shooting boots on.
 
He is getting there. Some excellent play. Thankfully he isn't the only top player we have now who can make things happen
 
Improved in 2nd half. Hopefully he will regain his form soon.

I think Mourinho has given the players freedom when compared to the straitjaket Van Gaal had us on. On Martial I think our fortunes will depend on how his season pans out because he is still the only forward we have who can run at defenses and disorganise them.

Oh boy yes. And the more opposition players get frightened of them, the more it frees up other members of the team. Having that fear factor will make such a difference all round.

Whereas last year, for a spell it was only Martial who looked a threat. Teams doubled up on him and we looked out of ideas. I can't see that being possible this season...not with the number of threats we have.
 
Started to really find himself in the second half. Cant wait until he really gets up to speed.
 
Scary acceleration during his best chances. Few more matches and he'll be catching every defense on a counter.
 
You get the feeling that he was positioned too deep in the first half. There were a couple of times when the ball was launched forward in that direction, with acres of space - the kind that Ibrahimovic didn't have the pace to exploit, but Martial would have thrived on.

Obviously this changed in the second half, when Southampton pushed higher up, and Martial was devastating. I guess Mourinho will have a real dilemma whether to utilise him to full effect or sacrifice that for defensive shape.

Yea, I forgot about that. Mourinho aswell has been important in giving this squad confidence and a winning mentality. I am so glad that Van Gaal is gone.
 
Slowly but surely getting back to his best, was good today, just lacked the end product, which we know will come.
 
Missing a bit of sharpness, but like the 2nd half of the last game looked dangerous. I think he's vital for the team with his speed and technique. I would like to see he and Micky on the wings starting.
 
Still looks unfit/fatigued. He never ran full pelt I feel. Lacks energy. I hope he gets back to his best soon but played pretty well today.

I often have such high expectations of him and forget his age.
 
Much better second half again. Should have scored, possibly lacking a tiny bit of confidence and needing a goal to get that back but by no means a poor game. Doing his bit out wide as being a cutting edge and linking up well.
 
Decent performance last week, but today he was pretty average imo.

He seems to react too slowly in certain situations. This is not me saying he shouldn't start next game, because you can still see in a performance like today how good he is.
No doubt he will improve with a couple more matches in his legs.
 
The boy needs to get his head off the slappers and get back into the groove.
 
Glad to see the improvement from him in the 2nd half. He'll get back to his best, but needs some encouragement and direction off the field - something or someone to keep him positive - especially with his on-going spat with his ex.
 
He played well, but didn't score the goals to reflect it.

After a goal, he'll be back banging them in. Zlatan should have been alert to his through ball for what could have been his hat-trick.
