Gaming Animal Crossing: New Horizons (Switch)

My museum is built it looks really impressive, though that owl is a bit rubbish, sleeping on the job then being scared of a third of his exhibits aka bugs!

Surprised a certain raccoon is actually letting me use it for free wouldn't have surprised me at all if he charged me for the privilege even though I'm the one doing all the work!

I've purchased more storage for my bag and also the tool wheel as scrolling through them and the one you needed always seemingly being the last one you selected was driving me mad!

I haven't even played this game and I don't know if I even want to but for some reason I really like reading this thread cause it sounds so fecking weird.

Same. Like to know what they are all up to. Sounds like Waco. Just need the FBI to move in and let everything burn.

Waco cult island jokes aside can anyone explain the premise and what is and isn't possible. Tom Nook. Does he come after you if you don't pay? Can you get him off you tail? I'm intrigued on what quirky things you can make happen in game.

It's basically The Sims meets Minecraft and you can play online and go to other people's islands.

Are there unusual things your can uncover though? I'm interested in some genuine weird or unique things that have happened

Everyone has different villagers on their island and different things happening depending on their island location and time but I wouldn't say weird or unique things happen, no. The joke is that Tom Nook is a villain cause he's always charging you to upgrade your house and build bridges and stuff.

Can you ever pay him off? What happens if you don't bother paying? I'm intrigued

Damn, nice. I've made 5 million off of tips in the last two hours.

any chance my 6 year old can sell 260 turnips on your island?

This is her first time buying any and both hers and my prices have fallen through the floor, i made about 5-6 million last week selling turnips so didnt bother this week, she saw how much i made and spent the whole week saving all her bells, normally she buys piles and piles of clothes everyday but she spent the whole week saving instead

Yeah sure! You able to come on now?

So, the time & date on my Switch is about 4 months ahead (I've not time travelled on Animal Crossing but did with another game ages ago and forgot!).

If I set my Switch to the correct time/date, will my island get all fecked up? As I say, I've not time travelled at all so far, will a one-off 4 month time jump be a problem?

I decided to order it. I have no idea if I'll like it, I still don't really know what it is, but seeing the excitement here and other places on the net over turnip prices, I can't not at least try it.

Other than some fish/bugs no longer being available, nope.

Just been doing lots of fishing and managed to get a tuna and the catfish, sick of the sight of sea bass though

Has anyone caught a shark before? Are they currently available in the Northern Hemisphere?

The two player co-op in this is absolute shite, isn't it? No point even trying to catch a fish or a bug if you're not the leader. I gave up after 2 minutes.

Deena the boring Duck moves out today. I hope Thomas Nook allows us to have a celebration.

So I’ve gotten bored of this now. It is a nice relaxing game to just pick up and play, and I enjoy crafting my dream island, but there’s only so much of the day to day living I can take. Farewell, fellow caftards, and I hope your islands prosper.

I forgot to sell my turnips and I missed the turnip lady. D'oh. The prices during the week barely rose above what I payed for them, last couple of days they were shockingly low.

I've reached the maximum of villagers now:

Want to keep:

Reneigh - Not that interesting but my first neighbour so there's some sentimentality involved.
Beardo - I like his vibe.
Naomi - She's got an interesting vamp style.
Octavian - Just moved in, fun design.
Tom - Just moved in, don't know much about him. Is a blue cat with a surpringly deep voice (sounds like Mumbo Jumbo from B&K)

Want to send packing:

Celia - Just boring.
Cranston - Jerk.
Kid Cat - Jock. Only talks about cardio.
Leonardo - Jock. Only talks about lifting weights.

Unsure:

Cookie - Kawaii dog.

I mean it's only supposed to be a game you play for an hour a day, really.
