Ozil has played a similar role to Di Maria for Bremen, left wing/right wing and at times through the centre... I've always thought Ozil looks the better player regardless of where his starting position is in the few matches I've seen him whereas I've just never taken to Di Maria... he lacks pace and isn't that superb technically though he does possess a ferocious shot and is a decent crosser.

The commentators were waxing lyrical about him yesterday but i don't see it. He's a good player but nothing special. He doesnt seem fit enough to last 90 mins, some of his movement is puzzling and he doesnt get involved in the game enough by cutting in to get the ball therefor limiting his goalscoring opportunities.

Looks like he'd be the bee's knees at a smaller club, where he'd be the main attacking outlet, but surrounded by bigger, better players, might not. Then again, if Mourinho puts an arm around his hsoulder, who knows?

I think he's been a weak link at the very top level - e.g. when they play Barcelona and his comparative lack of ball retention skills is shown up. A Cambiasso or a Mascherano would provide greater protection to the defence.
