I don't know about you but when I tuned on to Revista de la Liga and saw this, the euphoria was unbelievable. That was when the news broke that we were signing Di Maria.

I will never forget that day, it was a Saturday, wasn’t it? Oh man

Bored today so here's another one.

how does di maria, who wants to leave and is surplus to requirements cost more than sanchez and rodriguez?
I think it's a combination of us being desperate for a quality signing, Di Maria is arguably their best player behind Ronnie, and Di Maria is better than Sanchez and Rodriquez (in his prime too). Real Madrid always get good prices for their players too.

People [mostly journalists] are disappointed because they can't do another "XX player has rejected/turned down Manchester United" article, they love that headline. The reason we have missed out on so many in the past is our insistence on getting value, Hazard for instance, we wouldn't pay £8m extra in agent fees to land him. I don't mind overpaying for a world class player [as we are clearly doing with Di Maria] - it is when we overpay for the likes of Zaha, Young and Fellaini then I ask myself what's up with those that manage the club. While we're at it, why not bid another £60m for Vidal.

It'd be easy as feck to fit him in our midfield. We have none at the minute.

On quality it would obviously. But Herrera and Mata are both attacking players and the rest of our midfield options aren't up to scratch (bar Carrick who is injured). It would be unbalanced.

It would be smarter to sign a defensive midfielder to partner Herrera and play Di Maria out wide. We'd look a much better team that way, in my opinion.

I remember when I was 17 and thought 25 is grandfather territory... Now that I am approaching it, I know this is not the case.

You want to roll on a bit, and get to my age when pretty much all the players are younger than you!

Now we cleared Evra and Vidic out, I am older than all the United players!

It's difficult to figure out how we should play at the minute. Dropping one of Rooney/van Persie/Mata could be the best way to get this team to play with any fluidity. 4231 seems like the best way to play right now, 433 is possible. Either way we need a defensive midfielder or else all this talk is pointless as the side won't get anywhere near enough defensive protection in the middle of the park and will struggle. Cleverley and Fletcher must not start.

And Milan are broke as feck so will take whatever they can get. Also, since when is signing someone at 26 a concern?

A few years ago we were annoyed we kept signing nobody youngsters.
Embrace these times of buying peak age, ready made top players like Mata and Di Maria.

Hasn't it been confirmed that the 63m fee includes the add-ons. It's a 50m fee.

Now that Di Maria is gone, we actually made a profit in this transfer window. :D

If I look at transfermarkt Kroos, Rodriguez and Navas cost 105,6 mil. Euros
You have sold players for 25,5 mil. Euros. Di maria will bring 61,5 mil. Euros (not counting the add-ons, about 75 counting the add-ons).

Who else did you sell bar him and morata? Wouldn't you still be a tiny bit down, as di Maria was basically the same price as James and morata a similar price to kroos? You still have keylor navas that you bought.

Oh, Diego Lopez. Wasn't he the same as navas though? So more like break even unless it's just something marginal.

The 63m doesn't include performance add ons, which is apparently win the premier league for 5m and 2 champions league titles for another 5m.

Sahin and 3rd keeper Jesus. Lopez was a free transfer to Milan.

Yeah, if we did manage to sign a top quality DM surely we could have this line-up? Would be a strong system and make the most out of the players we have.

DDG
Rafael Jones Rojo Shaw
Carvalho
Herrera DiMaria
Mata
RvP Rooney

I'd agree with this apart from Jones. Both of those CB's are crazy no-nonesense players, so I feel Smalling would be a better compliment to Rojo. Kind of like Rio and his amazing positioning with Vida's immense ability to win the ball.

Why on earth would they agree to the "2" champions league wins part? Why not make it 2 league wins?

It'd take super mad optimism to see us winning the champions league twice in his say 4-5 year contract! We're not even bloody in it for the first year!

He was much better at real than Sanchez was at barca and actually vital to their success unlike the latter. He's right now far better than rodrigez.

Liverpool could have use the Suarez money and buy Di Maria and make their squad more complete upfront. However, they chosen to use the money to buy lots of fringe players just to fill up the squad so they will have 'depth in squad'.

I don't think he would move there to be honest.

Doubt he'd have gone there. They won't attract elite level players till they prove themselves more. Obviously we won't either if we continue slipping. Less likely, if we add players of this class.

He would have rejected them just like Sanchezter United did.

Maybe the journalist who tweeted it confused the two but it would be weird indeed. Think it's probably the other way around, though others have said how unlikely it is that the full add ons will actually be paid, so it could be true.

I forgot about Sahin, Morata and Garay. Probably because Sahin and Garay weren't there last season (or even the season before last) and I keep forgetting that Morata exists.
