According to Sky News its €75m with an extra €5m bonuses so £59.64m to £63.62m

We need a Roy Keane type player, someone who will feck shit up in our third then drive us up the pitch and pick out the best 6-8 yard passes.

He'd balance us better than Vidal IMO. We need a Makelele type much like Real Madrid did in early 2000s.
He'd balance us but nowhere near would he make us as good as Vidal would.

Such a jizzworthy lineup! But yeah, if we can't get Vidal... De Jong would be perfect. Way better than anything else we've got, which is quite said as I don't rate him that highly at all.

We'll give him number #47 though.

We might as well now that we've started to give away our best numbers to whoever comes in first to grab it.

What shirt number should he wear?

He should definitely wear #9. This is our biggest signing ever and he will be our biggest star for the coming 5 years. He probably prefers that number and the club has lacked a proper #9 for quite some time now. I fully expect this guy to be everything from our midfielder to our main striker. Player is unreal.

He is not the best player in the world, but he is very very good and will hopefully be the catalyst the team needs.

At the moment he is probably the best player in the world. He was outstanding in the CL final. Players like Messi, Ibra and Ronaldo have been on top for quite some time and to me they have lost that extra spark to take them up to 100%. In current form I would say Robben and Di Maria are a half step ahead of the others at the moment.

if all ander, di maria, shaw and rojo come good then no one will care how much we spent on them. All should be played in their right position i.e. Rojo as a LB or CB, Shaw as a LB and Di Maria and Hererra as Winger and CM respectively.

Van Gaal needs to switch to 4-3-3 and use a DM to protect his inexperienced CBs. We have to score goals to win and 3-5-2 is blunting our attack.

if the aim of 3-5-2 is being compact and while attacking spreading the play wide, its not really working since neither valencia nor young take their man on often enough or put in dangerous crosses consistently.

Whichever formation we eventually decide to play one thing is for certain, we need an experienced CB and a central midfielder asap.

No way. Messi doesn't even need to be 100% to be better than Di Maria.

I love is signing but Di Maria was never the best in the world.

Not unless the club have made an announcement we've missed.
Aye, remember when Willian did his medical and ended up signing for Chelsea? Nothing's set in stone :nervous:

Very good post. I don't believe there is anyone thinking back on the money we spent on Rio/Rooney.
The money will do us no good unless they are spent (of course in a good way) because at the end of the day we want to watch world class football. The money we spent is hardly exceptional considering how long we have held back on spending money. We want to be a world club so we make world transfers. When you mention those names I really feel we've gone for quality this time instead of long shots.

I love is signing but Di Maria was never the best in the world.
Oh really, well let's see you still say that after THIS:

Enough about the money ffs. 10 million here or there matters feck all really when you're buying one of the best players around.

amolbhatia100, you have probably watched a lot of football in your life and you also know footballers don't stay on top all their career. What we saw last seasons from messi was probably the beginning of the end. Or to be honest it started at the end of the season two years ago when he had that injury to his leg. Once you start getting those kind of injuries there's no turning back. He will still be a very good player though.

 this is what I think of every time successful posts.

I love how the arrow changes colour and use of multiple boxes. Such attention to strange detail.

It's the difference between having a beast player or not having a beast player. If we don't pay the cash for players like this we're stuck with what we have. If we're going for a player a level lower than Di Maria...like a Sanchez or Cuadrado, then we're still going to be overpaying because clubs know we're getting desperate

 Beginning of the end for Messi? Oh dear lord!

That's how you'd describe messi?

What's Rooney? Fatso playing with ball?

About time we showed up to the annual Madrid fire sale. Had we bought Robben or Sneijder earlier we might not have been in such a mess now.

Joke of a fee. Not that I expected Woodward to change the long trend of extortionate fees.

For those so concerned with the fee, would you rather not sign him? He's easily worth £60 million to us should he prove successful.

That theory scheduel would work in reality. A lot of my ideas are being ignored only to be used by somebody else who takes credit for them.
I was laughed at two years ago when I said the caf should try to introduce Twitter and Facebook + likes, to the site. Today Twitter is an integral part of the site.
