Can't wait for this signing, hopefully the rest of our players will now stop constantly passing out wide to Valencia for our only form of attack! We seem to do this no matter what formation we play.

Really coming around to this signing. He can dribble! The fee is still monstrous given the situation at his club, but the add-ons thing is smart. You don't really care how much you bet if you end up winning.

A sterling World Cup, and voila.

To be fair, Monaco paid £37m for him, a season before his departure. If Madrid wanted him (and they always want the latest fad) they were gonna have to make a stupid offer.

El Clasico last season where they lost 3-4, Madrid could have scored four goals in the first half alone, all set up by Di Maria. The ultimate big game player.

This is a 70 million player. Totally worth his fee.

Dani Alves will be really happy he's gone.

He gave incredible performances in the clasico's last season, his techniques really shone through against Barca's high caliber central players.

Yeah, I don't watch much Spanish football so haven't actually watched him play that much. That was one of the few games I watched last season and his performance blew me away. Such a great combination of work-rate and skill.
That's it. Rarely do the wingers of his ilk bother tracking back or even get their head down once the team is down. Di Maria is relentless. His supercoppa appearance last week and obviously the CL final were a testament to his skill. Madrid are mad to let him go. Yes, they bought James but I think Di Maria is a more skilful player than James and has more potential. People keep saying Di Maria has maybe 5 good years as a winger. I'd say that he has three more years as a central midfielder. Once he loses the pace, it's all about smart possession and incisive passes. Something Di Maria has in abundance.

Shamelessly stolen off Reddit.

Agree with everything you said, he could play in midfield quite easily for 3 years once he loses abit of pace for the wing.

So he lands at 6.20, prob take 20 mins to get out of airport, 20 mins to carrington? (If thats where the medical is held). 7pm is the time to be on here then ;-)

What a joke of a club

Real Madrid takes 40% of image rights from all it's players. Now think about Ronaldo, the money he makes from his image rights and the amount of his yearly wages covered by that contract clause.

Di Maria will sell shitload of shirts @ United, something he can't do at Madrid. He'll probably replace Ozil from top 10 list this season. For the huge transfer fee and the money he we will be making, if you don't have that clause in his contract, that would really be a joke.

I think that tweet says he lands at 5:20 GMT which means he'll get into Manchester at 5:20. So i'd say about 6:00 - 6:15 would be the time he gets to carrington. That is unless they fly him from Manchester Airport to Carrington in a helicopter, like Mata.
I would take a drive down there and see if he arrives via car, but it could be a long wait for absolutely nothing.

Hard not to get excited watching videos back, but also hard not to think he's in for a bit of a shock. Last season he was flanked by the two most devastating wide forwards in the game and fed by two top midfielders. Signing a genuinely top class midfielder would mean these two signings could absolutely transform the side, but one and not the other might frustrate us even more.

No, he's right. We're on BST at the moment. I used to confuse the two too.

Do we actually earn money from shirt sales?
We get the sponsors payment, and the sponsor gets the actual money from sales I thought.

Otherwise it's a bloody lot of money to be paying £70m a year for!
I thought they were paying to have their name plastered everywhere on our shirts and seeing as they sale millions worldwide I would say they were paying for advertising, we make money from the shirt sales, I think anyway

Thanks for correcting me. These time changes confuse me haha. Either way, i don't think it'll be done tonight, i'm guessing a medical will take a few hours at the very least

He'll be the best player we had since Ronaldo, cannot wait to see him tear into the opposition... he is someone that will put the fear back into them.

He was also fantastic in the CL final, probably the best Real player that night. I remember two absolutely wonderful runs that were impeded by very cynical fouls by Atletico players, and of course he could've had the winner after a lovely slalom in Atletico's defence but for Courtois's great save (that then went to Bale, which he scored with the header). He's a wonderful player, real world class. How anyone can moan about that fee is beyond my understanding.

How some people are able to function enough to make a living baffles me! How can anyone think it is appropriate to compare City and United when it comes to spending?

 You forgot to include the time for a piss or some fish and chips or a call to his wife so she can keep her Instagram up to date!

Not you're right, i was getting the two mixed up as was pointed out about. Apologies.
No need to apologise.

At my work you'd be surprised how many airlines file their flight plan an hour later than they mean to mixing up local and gmt. They then blame ATC for their hour delay ;-)

We only make a very small percentage on shirt sales, the manufacturer makes most of the money, but the deal with Nike or Adidas or whoever will take into account the number of shirts they can sell. It's a fallacy that we directly benefit from signing 'marketable' players such as Dong Fangzhou or Park.

Maybe City were deliberately shite for so many years so their purchase price would be kept low so any sugar daddy coming in would easily be able to buy them.

Exactly. Amazing how many can't grasp this.
