What about:

-------De Gea
Rafael CB CB Shaw
------Herrera
-----------------
Januzaj Mata di Maria
------Rooney RVP

It's not something we have been used to over the years. Back before the millionaire owners we used to break the British record quite often. But it does feel odd doing it now. And if you add in the money they have spent on mata, shaw, Fellaini and Herrera it's crazy. Just takes getting used to for some, including myself

Yeah, but I'll take that any day over us signing the likes of Bebe, Powell, Jones and Young in a window and that's us done. A club like United should be doing a hell of a lot better than that. We don't have SAF in charge anymore, we're mortal now.

Thats a good point and something I was talking to my brother about. We know he's a good player just like Ozil, and I hope he isnt a sulky fooker and performs to his best. Our record with Argie players has not been great. 2 of them turned out to be shits and the other was an expensive flop. Lets hope DM can buck that trend.

Like I said, unlike ozil or veron, we actually need someone like di maria, has this team is lacking another specialist wide player, nani is gone, young and valencia are not rated by VG has wide player options, di maria changes our system back to 4 at the back, and he has got one hell of an engine on him. Hes been used in CM at times in a 3 man midfield, so its a signing that makes sense all round

I am not as "ITK" as some of the twitter geniuses here but I would say it is more due to the fact that he felt with james and kroos coming in, he felt he would not be a starter or play as much or as important a role as he did last year and so decided he would go somewhere he would play regularly. United were able to convince him with their project and so he decided to go there.

Why the crazy moaning? We are probably overpaying but thats the situation we've put ourselves in after last season, at least this is a player that will add quality and pace to our team. We show willingness to spend big and compete with other clubs. Just sit down and watch Young and Valencia rip Sunderland apart and be happy.

Can someone please post some more links to youtube compilations? This transfer is going too fast and we've not had enough of them youtube comps yet!

In this thread in particular.

Not sure where you are getting that from. I was merely expressing my opinion. Just because it is cautious and differs from yours doesnt make it whining. I've seen others who are more negative than myself. I'll give it time and am excited about such a good player playing for us, but I'm not sure he should be our top priority at the moment.

I like it - I like it a lot!
Signing av world class player like Di Maria will lift our spirit, confidence and belief. Many of our players seem to need that, so I expect this to benefit us numerous ways. I happen to like Di Marias pace, work rate and set of skills as well - he will fit right in imo.
Now, sign that dutch warrior de Jong to help aid our "need to play" CDs, and we will do fine this season. Then let the team get time to adjust, and we will be back where we belong next season. By that time, I am sure Strootman will be here to help as well!
Thanks LvG/Glazers/Woody!

Offcourse we do, the whole point I'm trying to make is that the board wrongfully didn't value him enough to pay him like our top earners.
He just seems to lack that superstar/galactico feel which is probably why he wasn't valued as high as other players.

Yeah, altough I get the feeling he'll shine at United more than ever, don't know why.

I honestly hope he makes Perez regret not giving him what he wanted.

Probably just because they bought him as a talent not as a ready-made world class star or off the back of a load of WC hype. Only at Real Madrid is the former valued less than the latter.

I agree that it makes sense, I guess what I am worried about is his attitude. I really hope its a move that he wants, not one hes been pushed into. If his attitude aint right then it doesn't matter how much sense it makes. Saying that though, I rate him highly and if he plays like we know he can then its an excellent signing.

more! For those that like statistics, we could be seeing one of the best attacks to take on players at Manchester United. Januzaj, Di Maria and Mata can all go past players very easily on their day. Could also add Herrera to that list who really likes those runs from midfield.

If it meant we can play Di Maria in the same role he played at Madrid last year I'd instantly drop Mata in favour of him
Don't think we signed him to play as a 10, Van Gaal already stated we have plenty of them, he'll be played as a winger or midfielder.

This is all terribly exciting isn't it. Oh my.

LVGs big challenge now will really be to bring our young defenders on, polish a few rough diamonds.

I hope Van Gaal can bring the best out of Di Maria... still can't believe this is happening!

Gary Neville just said on SSN that he feels Di Maria is perfect as he adds the pace that United have not only been missing, but that United have built their success on over the last 15 odd years. He feels he will be played as a winger for United and he said after speaking to LvG that he knows LvG will only buy players he wants to fit his system. He also added he felt Fellaini and Mata were BOTH pressure buys (his words)

You are complaining about the fees. Come on. If we backed out because of a couple of million, everyone here would be crying we are acting like we are skint and Glazers are using all the money for their own profit.

Benzema getting a new contract and most likely a wage increase despite having no competition for his spot with 1 goal in 15 matches must have hurt too.

He's right.
