One good thing came of that game last night. Hopefully he won’t play again in a league game . He’s a shocking player

Poor game for him yesterday - I still have faith in him. He looks really short of confidence right now.

Sorry kid but you had a chance to shine and blew it. Maybe it isn't completely over for him but considering how many few chances he'll likely get between now and end of the season I don't see him making it.

Neither of them are good enough as even squad players, but yeah, if we had to have one, it would be McTominay. Pereira is no kid, he is 23 years old and that's old enough in modern football.

I think Pereira has way more natural talent but McTominay just has the correct mentality. I predict that Scott will have a long career with us

He was dispossessed 14 fecking times in the 63 minutes he was on the pitch. That’s shocking.

Where do you find this number? I am looking at an statistics website and the number there is totally different.

There is no way he was dispossessed 14 times unless you are counting inaccurate passes, which is something different than being dispossessed. And even then I don't get to 14?

At 23 and with his contract expiring at the end of the season, the sands of time are running out for him.

In the two starts given in Jan, he has failed to perform. A youngster needs to be doing extra to break into a side and he is not taking the opportunities given

He should get more minutes over the busy Feb period, but as it stands, I Would not be in a rush to renew his contract

At his age now he should be doing far better than he is.

I don't think he's good enough.

Should be behind McTominay in the pecking order

I agree with this and this says it all, to me.
I wanted him to succeed here, but sadly, he simply has never done anything of note, when given a chance. At the biggest clubs in the World, a player trying to break into the starting XI needs to make immediate impact (just as Rashford did, when he first got his chance).
I've seen him play plenty of times and he's done nothing. I think that he should move to a Spanish club, as that league did seem to suit him.

I think i've seen enough. He's gone in the summer when his contract expires. Might turn out to be a decent player one day, but we need one now.

Pereira's got a very high technical level, arguably higher than a lot of other options in the squad, but I'm not sure it'll prove to be enough.

You have to be careful with young players because often they turn it around. However, Pereira has shown some worrying tendencies. Yesterday he started quite positively but as the game progressed he got more and more hesitant with his play, less and less willing to express himself. The same happened against Reading in the FA Cup and when we got trounced at Brighton. He retreats into himself a bit when things get tough in midfield and that is a psychological block he needs to get over to make it here.

I can see him leaving United and doing well at a team in a slower league where you get more time on the ball and there's less pressure to make quick decisions. Shame because I was really enthusiastic about him after pre-season.

He's played one game.

He didn't play well (in a team that didn't play well).

Let's see how he responds.

He did not lose the ball more often than others really, apart from his error ofcourse. If you look at the stats, his passing accuracy was in the same region as his partner Pogba, 82 vs 84. He send 51 passes in his 64 minutes, Pogba made 56 in 95 minutes. He did not win anything in the air, but did have a interception. Pogba got dispossed 3 times, Pereira once. Pereira got 61 touches of the bal in 64 minutes, Pogba 75 in 95 minutes. You can hardly say he was not making himself available when superstar Pogba was even more invisable.

Mind you, I am not saying Pereira did wel, but he did ok in a game in which we were struggling offensively. Rashford was very sloppy and Pogba did not do much better in the first half. It's a bit of a shame, because Pereira had a nice pass and interception just before his error. I was just thinking he was stepping up and then that happened.

I can agree that he did not show enough (again) to warrant a place in next years squad. He should be working very hard to show something better in the next months if he want to stay.

On the other hand, I believe many people on here are very harsh on him. People are expecting a player without much playing time to get a chance and totally command the game. The comments at half time were very much pointed to getting Pereira off when he did just as good/bad as the rest of the squad. Seems like a bit of an easy scapegoat in games that we struggle instread of being critical of the players that should carry United against mediocre opponents like Burnley. They should provide an inviroment in which new/young players can ease in the team. Realisticly many new players struggle at United because the players around them do the same. It's so much easier when the base of the squad is solid and I do not think we are far enough at this time. I hope we will be soon, otherwise other talents like Chong, Gomes, Garner and Greenwood will struggle as well.
This!

Yes it wasn‘t a good performance but what are you expecting? It was his first PL start since months and everbody goes crazy like he was the only one who played an average game. Come on he was not that bad. Why people have no patience? In pre season everyone was going crazy about how good he can play.

We should not judge him by this game and neither will Ole. For me he deserves a new chance in form of a new contract. If he will not improve then we can get some money maybe. But at this moment i doubt he wants to stay at the club.

I’m sure that can’t be correct. Do you mean ‘lost possession’? Or include ‘lost duels/headers/etc? Because if you count pass accuracy, a player with 80% pa will normally have ceded possession 10-15 times in a game. I’m sure there were nowhere neat 14 instances of someone taking the ball off Pereira in the match.
Ed: Saw your answer to @TheForgottenOne previously.

The post you seem to cite says ‘lost the ball’, which is not what I understand by ‘was dispossessed’. Small but significant difference since one is fairly normal and the other would be scandalous.

Eh I feel bad for him. Gets one game every month or 2 and is expected to perform

That's exactly what players on the peripheral of things need to do. Always be ready and take the chance once they're given it. He was shite against Valencia, he was shite against Reading and was shite again last night.

If Andreas was offered a new contract and he signed it I would say that would be the dumbest thing he could possibly do in this period of time in his career. He needs to get away from us.He's had enough loans as it is.He needs to think for himself.Understand that its highly unlikley he'll be part of the first team anytime soon and sign for a club where he's going to consistently perform in the first 11.He's just turned 23.He needs to get the 'United dream' out of his mind and play football.

We cant afford him the luxury to take his time here and neither can he.

Fully agree with this post. It is time to part ways for both parties, unless Andreas starts pulling out oak-trees and sequoias left, right and center. Good luck to the lad wherever he ends up.

Sad but I don’t think he will cut it. 2 or 3 seasons ago he looked a great potential but his development has run out of steam. Last night was a pretty tepid performance although I would not blame him for losing the ball that led to their goal. Jones should have fired it away, it was a stupid pass and Andreas could not shield it. Apparently he lost the ball over ten times in the middle last night which is way below average and simply not good enough.

He needs minutes.

He very much looked like a player who has barely played all season, which he is.

Best for all parties for him to move on and develop elsewhere.

He can be a good player, it just wont be at United and probably not at league winning level

As soon as I seen his name on the team sheet I worry. He’s an absolutely awful player. Shouldn’t of made so many changes last night ole. First mistake.

It was a gash performance. I'd like to hope that he improves. It's definitely a league acclimation issue here. He needs to add some real steel to his game...I just can't get over how he hasn't the ball back from Burnley more than the once I can't even remember. So either his aggression and positioning were off or Burnley's midfield were just too much for him tactically and physically, which isn't a good sign.

In the end, I think Ole''s selection was off here because I do want to think it's mental. Surprised Fred didn't start if we were intent on resting Ander.

He seems to have Verratti's mentality with lesser skills. Still think that he has potential to become a regular in this team, although his last showings were incredibly poor.

And for all the talk of Scholes being unable to tackle, Pereira really is. Does well to put pressure on the opposing players but when he actually gets to them he has absolutely no idea on how to proceed from there.

I felt for him. He had a poor first half but had actually started well in the second half. Bad mistake for the goal but he had zero options.

Nice comments by Ole. It's a shame United got such a tough FA Cup draw. I'd like to see him get another game to see if he can play himself into form. United really need another option in midfield. He has played so little football, it's not surprising he is rusty.

Jones shouldnt have played that pass, but Pereira is to be blame as well for trying to turn at critical areas of the pitch.

Either way, this is the second game where he didnt really take his chances. I wonder how many more Ole will give, if any?

I disagree. The majority of young players that feature for the big teams either show what they've got from the start or they disappear. They'll have a limited window, be allowed few mistakes and will either progress or slip down the table/ leagues/ out of sight altogether. They all have serious talent, that's why they're there in the first place. Whether they make a go of it or not often comes down to mentality. I don't think Pereira has it, the character to take his opportunities by the balls and make people take notice. I'm never hard on the young lads and this is not just about last night. I don't think it's going to happen for him.

As terrible as he was, honestly the worst thing about when he plays is the match day thread and then post-match threads.

A substantial number of caftards seem completely unable to spell his name which is one of the simplest names in the squad. I've seen several variations:
- Periera
- Perreria
- Perreira
- Perirea
- Perriera
- Peirera

How is it so difficult? It's literally one of the easiest names to spell.

He's 100% to blame. He chose not to play the ball first time straight back to Jones (or De Gea) which was an option if he felt he didn't have time to take more than one touch. He's a professional footballer ffs. You can' start blaming other people if he takes two touches when he should only have taken one. That's basic fecking stuff.

For me, his previous loan spell at Granada was much better. Based on that, I thought he would go on and be part of the squad but he wanted to go to Valencia the season after that. It was a poor loan season for him.
