I swear if he wasn't from the academy he would receive x 10 times the stick. Some people here have overated him because we all like the romantic story of a academy player breaking through the team and developing like the class of 92 but lets stick to the facts. He had an ok season nothing special with Granada and people was asking for him to start. He then went to Valencia and couldn't earn a place and still some people wanted him to start before Matic, and then the few chances he gets this season he has been a massive dissapointment.

He played like an amateur against Reading 2 weeks ago and today may be one of the worst performances I have seen in some time. He was awful against a Burnley side that offers nothing besides physicallity, if he can't be up to the expectations in a home game against Burnley then how can we expect him to make the difference in the important games?

Some facts and statistic from todays game:

Recoveries Made vs Burnley:

9 – Jones
7 – Matic
7 – Shaw
5 – Lindelöf
5 – Pogba
4 – Young
2 – Rashford
2 – Mata
1 – Sánchez
0 – Lingard
0 – Lukaku
0 – Pereira

In addition of not recovering the ball 1 single time as a midfielder, he also lost the ball 14 times. According to Whoscored he was the lowest rated player on the pitch with 5.3

I seriously don't know how he could had a worst game than this. Obviously the inflection point is the lost ball that turned into the first goal for Burnley, but he had being attrocious before that as well.

He is on a terrible form and he is not that young anymore, he is already 23 years old. Compare him to other players of him generation like Alli, Arthur, De Jong, Rodri from atletico, Ndidi, Ndombele, Neves, Bentancur all of them are the same age or younger than Andreas and have proveen way more than him. If he was good enough he should had showed it by now. We are not talking about an 18-19 year old that is just breaking out into the team, he has been around for almost 4 seasons and hasnt been up to the challenge.

I know we are all about giving youth a chance but enough is enough, we should not waste more minutes in to him, it's clear he won't make it. Let's use those minutes in other players that might make it here.
And we did give him a chance. He impressed in the pre-season. Unfortunately, he hasn't done so in the 10 appearances.

Agreed, it's time to give youngsters a chance. Gomes, Garner and Gribbin (when he comes back).

Yet again incorrect stats. How can anyone have watched the game and think he never recovered the ball? Not to mention whoscored have him an interception anyway.

There was one good long ball to Rashford and a moment where he almost found Mata in the box. Apart from that, most of his passing was unadventurous, at times a bit negative. Not impressed by him pulling out of a 50-50 in midfield. Didn't sense the danger when robbed in possession for their first goal.

He does have technical ability but whether he has enough to stand out at PL level is debatable. Perhaps if given a longer run in the team, we might see him reveal more of his qualities.

Personally, I don't see him as a sensible replacement for Herrera in this system. It rather assumes that Herrera's physical contribution to the team, his hard-work, isn't that important.

I wonder if he could perform Mata's role, though I doubt we will ever know.

Anyway, he'll be lucky to get another start in the PL this season.

Those recovery stats are damning. I was actually thinking during the game that the burnley MFs were looking more composed than he was. He seemed nervous like the pressure got to him.

I think if Herrera starts tonight, we would have won the match.

You are right, he has 1 interception. 1 single interception in 63 minutes he played. Everything I said I stand by it, he is awful but since he is a caf favorite he won't receive the stick he deserves.

Just imagine Fred or McTomminay having the game he had, what would had been said?

Lets stop protecting him, like I said enough is enough.

I was a fairly big supporter of his before but he hasn't impressed in many of his appearances and last night was just a serious issue. I would have initially passed it off as a lack of games so a bit rusty but nothing he did really filled me with any confidence. All the 'good' things are what you'd expect (like when he won his only 50/50 in their half) but otherwise it was just more shit than good

It seems really harsh to be judging him after so long out. His career still hasn't really gotten started, lots of time on benches, lots of time being asked to play multiple roles. I still suspect there's a player in there but it's difficult to see it happening for him here.

Awful mistake, worse performance.

He’s a more nothing player than Cleverley ever was and that takes some doing.

Absolutely nothing remarkable about him whatsoever and some down right bad traits in his game that make him not up to standard to even be a squad player.

He’ll go to Spain or France or Italy and disappear.

Pretty much.

I think he has the quality to become a good player but he doesn't take responsibility. That was the criticism after the Leicester game when he hid quite a bit early in the season. After that he was out of the team (though he had a good pre-season). There was a time tonight where he should have challenged for a header but he cowered. He rarely showed for the ball in tricky areas like Pogba and Matic do all the time, and when he did he practically gave them a goal. He's got one hell of a task to prove himself at this club. But there is a good player in there if he can find some courage.

probably more shit than good tonight but Jones did serve him a hospital pass for the goal. That’s never going to do your confidence any good. But hey...pereira is younger and far far less experienced than Jones and both appear to be stealing a living way above what I could even dream of.

Always a potential. He lost the moment to step up some time ago and i don’t think it’s now going to happen for him. Two or three years ago he was a diamond but now he looks less than average. I think the Sacked One had a lot to do with his rapid decline.

He made 1 interception so thats not true.

Its not a lot but there have been plenty of games this season where our midfielders won the ball back 1 time themselves. Matic had performances like that and he was playing DM, while Andreas today was playing RCM further up.

He also made 2 fouls to break up play when he couldnt win the ball another way. Lindelof made 2 fouls as well

Overall he made 1 key pass but mostly his distribution was just to keep the ball moving, nothing complicated. He made 1 successful dribble as well

It certainly wasnt a good performance but nowhere near as bad as you just made out by ignoring what he actually did do. His passing stats are very close to Pogba's despite Pogba playing longer and Pogba also being tackled 3 times on top of it.

Passing stats say nothing when they are sideway passes, obviously Pogba has a medium pass rating since he plays through balls and difficult passes which will often end up intercepted, to give some example Phil Jones has over 90+% pass rating.

The only thing Pereira did was that pass to Mata, but add that he only recovered 1 ball, lost it 14 times while playing safe and his brainfart on lossing the ball for the first Burnley goal its an attrocious performance. I seriously don't know what haves to happen so people can realize he is not good enough.

Everytime he has a bad performance people claim he needs time, different position, different tactics, different players around him, but it's never his fault. Like I said if he was good enough he should had showed it by now.

Apparently 0 to 1 interception makes a lot of difference for some to mention it as wrong ? It's a disgusting stat for a midfielder either way.

He doesn't seem to be a United player and that will literally be the case pretty soon. Maybe he's one of those players who impressed more in training than in actual games going by Ole's recent comments.

Why is he usually liked by the average football watcher? Because he has great technique on the ball with fantastic telephone box dribbling. Why is he disliked? His feet can move at 100mph but his brain can't. He losses possession because he dwells on the ball and doesn't have the mental RPM of top-class midfielders. He also has poor decision making.

Why do I still believe in him? With regular game time, you sync your timing to the pace of the game and as a result you don't lose the ball as often and then you can really let your superior technical skills show - see preseason.

Why is he not going to make it here? We're never, ever going to give him a run of games over either Matic or Pogba. The only chances he might ever get is if either Fred or Herrara get injured.

Result? Another loan or he finally pulls his thumb out and makes a more permanent move because there is a very good player there that is not getting the chance to get that engine running.
Every time he plays he just continues to reinforce this. Move him on ffs

I have never understood the hype around him, because he's never been around United quality. Guess it's the outcome of the lack of quality CMs at the club at all levels, people overrated him because of a need, rather than him actually having the quality

He probably is a skillful player and that impressed the coaching staff behind the scenes. But on the pitch he's very ponderous and self indulgant. Also lacks the drive and incisiveness (in his passing) that you'd expect from a creative CM at a big club. I saw more fearlessness from Gomes in his little cameo to be honest.

Another player overrated by the CAF for no reason.
One of our best performers in the last 3 or 4 pre seasons so it wasn't for no reason. He's still got potential, he's just probably going to have to move to somewhere like Spain permanently to grow as a player. It's pretty conclusive he isn't at the required level just yet.

Its horrible to see him play
Please selling him, it's disgusting for losing 2 points because of him
Very overrated

That was a really bad play to give up that goal. When Jones gives him that pass the whole idea is to give it right back on his first touch, then make a run to receive the ball again. It's done all the time when midfielders have opponents around them. The last thing you do is take a couple of touches. Not in that position. Either that, or it's a first time touch out to Lindeloff who was making space down the right and ended up being caught out once Peirrara lost the ball. Amateur stuff from a kid who I think we all had such high hopes for a few years ago...

I have seen nothing from him to suggest he's a good enough player for United. I don't think preseason matters much in the grand scheme of things anyway so not sure why that is given so much importance when justifying his poor first team performances.

He's played one good game this season and that was our opening home fixture against Leicester City. That's it.Where he also played deep.
At this moment in time he's not good enough for us. He's 23 and needs consistent first team football and that simply is not going to come with us.

I think a permanent transfer would be best for us and him.He needs to cut ties with us completely from a career point of view.
He needs to focus on himself and be clear in his mind without the indifference of a United career hanging over his head.He needs to accept the reality at present.
And ,I reiterate,he's not going to get in our team and stay there anytime soon.

Spot on. We need to move him on.

Did better once he kept things really simple in possession, but if he's going to do that then his physical limitations mean he can't really play for us. His lack of strength and quickness over a couple yards really stood out, and he'll almost certainly never be the almost genius Mata is on or off the ball creatively.

Might have to go somewhere he can play in a 4-4-2 where they play central midfielders wide like Watford or Palace have been doing. His being 2-footed and his long range passing (awful today but generally good) and shooting seem like enough for him to have a useful career as a mid-table player in a top league, but it's tough to see more than that anymore. Did play scared today though so maybe he'll just be a late bloomer mentally.

Has great technical ability, two footed, good passing range.

Unfortunately he just isn't mentally ready. His decision making is poor & too slow for the EPL midfield.

He needs a loan as a CM not a winger. Unfortunately with his ccntract we just ran out of time with him. Will be decent elsewhere if given time/experience
