Andre Gomes

I've watched him play half a dozen times and you can tell he can play football. I think he'd be a great signing.

He's the real deal in terms of talent, and if we let him go to Juve, you just know he will put it all together and be priced at 60m. With his age and skill set, I think he can become a star under Jose.

I guess with Jose's latest comments that this is a no go. As per usual journos link us with every compatriot of the new manager, which Jose has just squashed. Journos got to work harder now.

Not really mate. He said he wouldn't buy players from the portuguese LEAGUE, he didn't rule out buying portuguese players from other european leagues.

Seems the tweets are ambiguous though - you read portuguese, right? Is Luckhurts translation wrong? So this would only rule out Joao Mario?

Ironic :D

I saw Mourinho's interview on my lunch break. Luckhurt's translation is wrong. He was talking about players from the portuguese league. And yes it rules out João Mário, Lindelof or Carvalho.

Thanks! Did he say anything else interesting?

Here's the link with what he said

Says he won't buy anyone from the portuguese league. Rest of the interview was generic stuff about Portugal in the Euro 2016, not being favourite but having the ability to win it. Then he said he was already "part of the furniture" (it's a portuguese saying that makes more sense in our language) in England, with 7 years in the Premier League, that new people that arrive are the ones who can change anything, that he isn't a novelty.

He also had some words regarding Pep Guardiola, saying that with his experience he can't be inocent. He was some years with Guardiola in a league that whether him or Guardiola could be Champions. Mourinho said that if he just focus on Pep, or Pep on him, another manager will be the champion. It's more competitive in England.

He was on Bayern Munich's list too before they decided to go rather for Renato Sanches.

This is the sort of thing that turns fans on here. If FC perfection Munich want a player, he must be brilliant, because anyone associated with United can't spot a player, but Bayern own the market.

I havent seen him play but reviews seem to be mixed. Nevertheless, I'd like to think that a highly talented player can become consistant and develop nicely under Mourinho

You already answered your question about Kondogbia :D
He has been pretty shit at Inter and was voted one of the worst buys of the season.

I see, he doesn't seem the cleverest of players, but he seems or seemed a very talented one whenever I watched him, central midfield version of Nani?

He's really quite graceful for his frame. Certainly doesn't seem a left midfielder, especially for a side down to 10.

He really is a star in my fm16 Valencia save. Became one of the best midfielders in the world so he must be good.... right?

Was played out of position but still showed his quality on the ball.

Honestly, he didn't do enough in his 45 minutes against England to be either concerned or excited about. It wasn't much of a match, and he didn't have much of a chance to shine. He's clearly a talented fellow, but I haven't seen nearly enough of him to have a strong opinion. From what I have seen, he doesn't strike me as a must have, can't miss, sure to improve our team type of player. I'm not saying he wouldn't be a good addition (for the right price), but I don't think he'd be a transformative one. Rather, he may be one piece in a bigger puzzle. Sanches showed more in his ten minutes or so that caught my eye. We desperately need a midfielder of that ilk - a strong, quick, athletic bulldog of a midfielder that can drive the ball forward and pick a pass. Gomes can certainly dribble, but I'm not sure that he's athletic or combative enough. I wouldn't be disappointed if we bought him, but there may be better options available.

He is definitely athletic, and can drive with the ball. Last night wasn't much of a match, but he showed glimpses I think, including one run in which he ran about 30 yards with it and took on a couple of players.

I think he's at least equal to Gundogan in talent and can develop into a similar or better midfielder personally. I see potentially the same sort of style in them as CMs, although Gundogan can also operate a bit deeper I guess. Perhaps Herrera is more the role he would replicate here, and I believe he'd be an upgrade.

I can't really argue with that, as you've likely watched him play more often than I have. If we truly are interested in him, I hope your assessment is accurate. I appreciate your thoughts.

But there's a lot to suggest that soon he will be. Can only speak of his games against Madrid, but both times he seriously impressed. This guy has the ability to run down an entire midfield. Good passing technique and range, very agile, good at shooting - would hate to see him go to Juventus.
Id love to see him go to Juve.

If it meant Pogba heading our way

We are apparently offering a lot of money to sign him, we must rate him highly, or the Nevilles have put in a good word. Only ever seen him live against England but he looked the part.

Don't know why people are calling him average. Looks very good to me.

If United don't sign him now, I can see him playing for Barcelona or Real Madrid in a years time

Think it's his inconsistency that has bothered most that have watched him in La Liga. Could potentially be a world beater but he has a lot of bad games for a 22 year old (23 in July). I'm personally neutral on the prospect of him signing, and think we could end up wasting a lot of money, although we've got it to spend to be fair

I've seen him have too many bad games. Too many games where he might as well not be on the pitch.

This.

But he is a striker and they're the first to disappear when the team plays poorly.
