Anyone who hasnt seen this video, should watch it to see just how much of a transformational affect Onana will have on the team. Its an eye opener.

Manchester United and Inter are really close to reaching an agreement.

The Italians ask for 55M € , bonuses included.

Negotiation sources believe that it can be closed soon.

Maybe, Maguire becomes Superman with Onana behind.
Hes his own enemy for me, thinking he is prime rio because he was bought for x amount of cash, if anything I can see him becoming even more of a problem with playing out from the back

When there is white smoke....the new MUFC pope will be announced. Blessed be the Onana era.

So we've offered 45+5 and they want 50+5? In terms of negotiating I don't think we should go much further above where we have

Onana's shot stopping metrics are better than De Gea's this season. He has also made less errors than De Gea this season.

Onana has flaws, but I dont think we have to worry about him being better than De Gea. He already is. Atleast, the current DDG.

I can't name one GK in the league top teams that doesn't have some absolute howlers against their name. It's the other things Onana can provide that Dave unfortunately can't which is the real positive.

Personally, I don't care about goalkeeper clangers beyond that weekend and as long as they are infrequent enough to not be beyond embarrassing. Onana brings in a unique skill that is required for us. I'm ready to accept the clangers and then revel in the beautiful passing.

Agreed, they all have howlers in their resume, it's part of the job, it's a difficult one and a small mistake can lead to a memorable howler. During their prime the only goalkeeper that I don't remember making many mistakes were Buffon and Van der Sar(excluding his Juventus experience) but even then I'm almost sure that they had at least a couple of terrible howlers.

We would never stop at 45+5 for him - we literally don't have a keeper! The 5m is a no brainer.

Was really impressed with his ball skills in the final. a signing I am enthusiastic about. Came from La Masia and played under ETH in Eredivisie. Makes a lot of sense this one

Going from De Gea to Onana is going to give united fans some major whiplash. But I'm very excited with bringing him in.

Also can't wait for the inevitable media scrutiny when Onana does something mental that costs us a goal.

Sounds like it's happening, then.

I'm not fully convinced by him but definitely willing to give him a chance. And at least we will now be starting every game with 11 players who can actually pass a ball, rather than voluntarily playing 10v11 like we have been for the past few years.

What is wrong with you?

We are literally about to sign Onana going by all accounts and you quote a fecking nothing article from the mirror with absolutely no substance to it to try and claim EtH might quit the club?
Maybe learn to read... "I wouldn't be surprised" doesn't mean he wants to quit. Nothing wrong with me, everything wrong with the Glazers who would haggle over the price of a bag of crisps

I will bet you £10 he won't quit.

Give me some examples of when a manager walks out on his multi million pound salary.
You seem to have missed my point: the Glazers are screwing things up right to the very end. Oh, and lots of managers resign (but I didn't say he was going to: I was saying it wouldn't surprise me: he's being f@cked around by a bunch of f@ckwits)

Happy with this signing if we can get it done, as sounds likely.

He clearly improves us in terms of distribution and ball retention. And in terms of saves and dealings with crosses - De Gea was very poor with the latter, and used to be very good with saving but has become increasingly prone to unforced errors with those as well so it's not like any clangers Onana commits would 'definitely' be ones DDG wouldn't have.

However I'm not fully downplaying Onana's potential mistakes in terms of 'all keepers make them'. It's a bit like downplaying Alexander-Arnold and David Luiz defensive mistakes in the same way - yes, all keepers and defenders make some, but some make more than others, and same make more avoidable ones, etc.

De Gea was a 'play it safe' keeper. So made less noticeable errors than a more proactive keeper like Onana - but also is less helpful to his teammates in terms of distribution, dominating the box, etc.

Onana will do all of that, which is great, but keepers who do that will also make more noticeable and high profile errors along the way. And being a United keeper puts you under the spotlight more than pretty much any other club. Hopefully, Onana will continue to bounce back from any mistakes and not let it effect his confidence - my only worry is that the constant global scrutiny of United and the PL effects his confidence more than at previous clubs. But hopefully he'll continue to be able to bounce right back from them and not let it change his risk taking and the overall effectiveness of it.

He won't just up and quit, way too much money in getting sacked!

If another big club needs a manager and comes in for him he might ask to go, but let's hope the Glazers are gone by the time that starts happening.

So that's the budget spent, pending any sales?

I personally think that the transfer budget is £150 million before sales.
There is zero chance that they would have left nothing for a striker.

There’s probably a good £50 million still available that can be topped up by sales.

I don’t think we really operate with a specific budget. We are more likely constrained by cash on hand than anything else.

Chris Wheeler was on Stretford Paddock yesterday and he reckons the budget is around £120M before player sales.

Possibly makes sense

£55M Mount
£42M Mount
£60M Hojland
£5M Suzuki Zion

Maybe after sales
£25M Amrabat
£85M Kane

Still holding out hope we can get Kane in towards the end of the window.

Sounds like this is getting really close now, actually quite excited about this signing.
