I'm a little surprised this might not be a done deal tonight. Doesn't Inter need the cash before July first due to FFP?

Ten Hag botching it by not signing him on a free and his age fudging aside, has anyone not thought to question his past drug abuse/addiction?

Why is he quite cheap? Maignan in the same league/age was costing quite a bit more.

1+1=2
:wenger:
This will get done fast, 42 million Sterling, generally we have good working relationship with Inter. Should be the most straight forward transfer ever... who am I kidding

They play for different clubs that have different financial situations and different opinion on whether they should sell their starting goalkeepers.

If you take out all comments on siging him for free and worries about the Africa cup and you could summarize this entire thread in 2 pages.
Take out the posts about people complaining about those two questions and we’re at less than one page.

That is a shit thing to say, I thought we have learned the lesson of stereotypes.

Not always the case but the practice is rampant enough for it to be a fair question. Good thing he left as a youth so there is more faith that it's close enough to his actual age.

So we buy him and Inter buy lukaku
“We’re giving more money to Chelsea so they can buy Brighton football club blah blah”

How about when he’s away on international duty to play in the African cup?

Currently retired... but could easily unretire if the national team coach is changed.

He got into a bust up with the coach in Qatar because he thought he was a midfielder or prime Neuer.

I don't think he is actually that good of a goal keeper. Excellent with his feet, but can't say I have been overly impressed other than that
Don't you know that's all that matters now :)

I'm just sitting here wondering why the African Cup of Nations didn't buy him when he was available for free last summer.

You can get away with an average shot stopper as long as your keeper is excellent with his feet, pushes the team further up the pitch and is generally commanding. A proactive style of football. That being said, I think Onana is better than average when it comes to shot stopping.
Yeah. Shot stopping is important but how many shots per season are the type that an average stopper won’t save but an elite stopper will?

Not many. Most goals are either impossible to save or down to an error. Dave made a few of those so even being a great stopper doesn’t eradicate goals that shouldn’t have happened.

That wasn't on ETH. Onana wanted to go somewhere he was going to be #1 and in CL. Plus the money sucking would have never sanctioned the contract it would have took to sign him with De Blunder and Henderson's wages. I get Henderson got loaned out but i'm pretty sure he hadn't gone on loan before Onana signed with Inter

What if he unretires from international football and they move the AFCON back to Jan? Not worth the risk

We’re signing a 52 year old African keeper who no one wanted and ended up at Inter on a free transfer and is going to be missing 7 months of every season because of African nations cup who also can’t save any shots over 1m away from his body and is prone to have an attitude and take a little drugs here n there. Exciting signing.
