Anderson on his way out?

I'm a staunch fan of Anderson's but even I came to the decision season before last that he had to establish himself as a mainstay this season.

He hasn't done that due to injury but averaging 10-15 games per season over the last 5 seasons isn't good enough. If we get £10m for him we should sell him and use the money for other players.

If not then we keep him as very useful as backup throughout the season. With injury-prone players they can absolutely play - as long as you you don't build a team around them or rely on them being fit all the time.

It's shortsighted to suggest that we should offload Anderson if a decent offer comes in. After this season, Giggs, Scholes and probably Fletcher will be gone and we're going to need all the midfielders we can get, even decent ones like Anderson.

Just because we get paid 10 million or whatever for Anderson, doesn't mean that money will be invested in a new midfielder right away. We've been spending alot of money every summer recently and we still haven't bought a a proper midfielder since Owen Hargreaves, even though we desperately needed one.

Last season I assume. Interestingly after our horrorstart we were PL winning form for the rast of the season.

"PL winning form". Did You won something ? ...oh right, players who joined City, did.

Keep selling them players...

If we hadn't has such a shit start we'd have been up there and wouldn't have bottled an 8pt lead.

 Storey, delusional as ever. Some things never change.

There are certainties in football and on the Caf - Storey will talk complete bullshit, and Arsenal won't win trophies.

"If"... Big word.

You won one of your last five matches by the way, lost one and drew three.
Yeah, but you fecked the title from 8pts up, we got 3rd from 10pts down. Biggest bottle job since 1998.

Wasn't 1998 the last time peterstorey saw a trophy? Can't really remember, feels like decades, doesn't it, pete?

I'm not disputing that United completely failed at the end of the season. We were horrible at the end and deserved to be beaten.

Having said that, Arsenal were nowhere near champions form last season. I don't get how you would even think that.

That "if" just ticked me off... because "if" we would have managed to beat Everton we'd be champions. Makes no difference, didn't happen. Just like you didn't have a good beginning to the season, ended up having and 8 point lead towards the end of the season or won the league. Anyway, you were horrible in the beginning of the season, had a good run for a while and at the end of the season you looked bad again. Not really the stuff of dreams.

I hope both United and Arsenal come back stronger this year by the way. I would be happy winning the league with Arsenal as our main rivals again. But that's a wish that's unlikely to come true... But hope for the future is always better than an "if" from the past.

He's just trolling, you don't have to explain anything to him.
He also knows how pathetic his team is and it eats him inside. :)

Next season will be his season! It's like a single player version of Liverpool's team motto.

I'm not sure who would buy him from us though, not with that injury record.

You've basically said no team in the world would take him for free. Get defensive and lash out all you want, it was a ridiculous comment to make.

Wrong!

Did you not read the comment properly? Well obviously not.
To recap for you , I said any TOP club, and I stand by it.

Of course the likes of stoke and villa would take him.
Can't see him getting a game at chelsea, city, inter, barca, real, AC Milan etc....

Can you ?

I seem to remember a season called 2002/2003 where a certain Arsenal team bottled an eight point lead to a certain Man Utd team. I believe that happened between 1998 and the present day.

Yeah just look at his goals stats....

Oh wait....

7 goals in 145 appearences - Anderson scores in just under 5% of games.
19 goals in 273 appearences - Carrick scores in just over 6% of games.
23 goals in 302 appearences - Fletcher scores in just over 7% of games.

Anderson has scored in 13 percent of the games he's played in over the past 2 seasons.

Carrick has scored in 2 percent of the games he's played in over the past 2 seasons.

Fletcher has scored in 10 percent of the games he's played in over the past 2 seasons.

His goal record has improved, so his shooting must have also.

Carrick and Fletcher generally play a lot deeper. Anderson, for an attacking mid-fielder has been woeful in front of goal.

I think Anderson has done enough in the last two years goal wise whenever he's played. Expect him to get around 10 next year if he's fit all through the season.

How many times have you seen Anderson play as an attacking midfielder?

He might not play as an attacking midfielder but if he partners one of them, who have likely been his most frequent partners here, that he'a allowed more lisence to go forward, generally that they are. Additionally you have to factor in that a lot of the games that carrick and fletcher have played have been with scholes, who because he needs protection and generally stays deep, forces then to play deep. Both of then could improve their goal return, personally I think fletcher has shown the best progress in these terms when he was here and if he were partnered with carrick now i'd fancy him for a decent return. Either way it's not really fair to compare them on games to goals as carrick and fletcher, although both could have done better, both player with greater responsibility for defensive duties in the middle.

Anderson though, given he doesn't provide the defensive cover those to do, needs to up his attacking game when he is fit. However tbf I think if he can stay fit he can get a decent return.

You have to hold your hands up and say...Fergie got this one spectacularly wrong.

Not yet.

I don't think anyone doubted his ability and potential after that first 6 months will the club. It was clear too see why we signed him.

the 3 of them dont score enough jake.
And Anderson having a better stat ratio than carrick doesnt make him the better player.

Goal stats don't tell you much. Anderson's goal record in the past 2 seasons is very similar to those of Modric and Moutinho.

you expect a player that has scored less than 10 goals in nearly 150 games to get 10 in the next 40 odd...

Well that would be some turn up for the books
