Valverde (coach) repeats that they've got nothing new to say on Herrera.

I get the impression that they've named their price (the release caluse, basically) and don't think we are willing to match it.

Athletic Bilbao coach Ernesto Valverde when asked about Ander Herrera today: "You're all obsessed. We'll all know tomorrow.”

I think I can safely say this is definitely going to happen.

I'm getting that feeling too. But you know we have edd closing out the deal and that's enough to make me worry a little that this won't happen. :nervous:

He said after the game : "There won't be any move in our squad. For me, he is a great player and very important to us. I think Ander will stay, this does not worry me at all."

I'm not sure I want him. Watching us it's clear we don't need numbers we need class in midfield. Has he that class? I haven't seen much from him. Obviously it's too late now to go for the big guns.

He can hardly be worse than Cleverly, Ando or Giggs

We don't need to sign anyone; our squad is more than good enough to retain the league title.

Transfer news: Athletic Bilbao expect Manchester United target Ander Herrera to stay

Athletic Bilbao coach Ernesto Valverde does not expect midfielder Ander Herrera to join Manchester United this summer, despite leaving the player out of his side for Sunday's 3-1 defeat at Real Madrid.

Herrera was the subject of a bid from the Premier League champions during the week, which was rejected by the Basque club.
Herrera had started both of Athletic's league games this season - against Real Valladolid and Osasuna - but played no part in the early Primera Division kick-off at the Bernabeu, with Mikel Rico starting instead.
But speaking after the game, Valverde was adamant the bid from David Moyes' side was not related to his decision to leave Herrera out of his team.
"It had nothing to do with the bid from Manchester United, I left him out because I chose the players I thought were best suited to the game," Valverde told a press conference.
"I'm not thinking about speaking to him to convince him about anything and I'm not worried about anything else.

"I haven't spoken with the player but what I'm going to repeat is that I don't expect the club to make any moves in the transfer market tomorrow (Monday).
"I do not know what will happen. I want Ander to stay with us, and that is what I expect will happen."
Asked why he thought Herrera would stay, he responded: "It would be harder to explain why I thought he was going to leave."
Before the match, Valverde declared during a pre-match press conference that Herrera was fit to play against Madrid.
The 24-year-old progressed through Real Zaragoza's youth ranks before joining Bilbao in 2011 for 8million euros, and was part of the side that defeated Manchester United 5-3 on aggregate in the last 16 of the Europa League in 2011/12.
He has a buy-out clause in his contract which is widely believed to be 36million euros.

That's something very Barcellon-esque of him to say..

Simply means that it could happen if we receive the right bid. The player may well have indicated he is keen, but is holding back in case the bid doesn't arrive. This will allow him to do his Fabregas-esque, I didn't want to leave.

This does seem much more likely than the Fabregas transfer, but time is so against us. That said, it makes it easier on us, the fans, not to be pissed around for weeks.

Quotes don't sound so bad to me.
"It had nothing to do with the bid from Manchester United, I left him out because I chose the players I thought were best suited to the game,"
Liar!

Just sign him up. He starts the first two games and doesn't start against Madrid.

Clearly something is happening. It's up to us to pay the cash rather haggling over a few million.

Valverde: At this moment, I think he'll be staying with us.

I think it's quite clear. At the moment, United aren't paying enough so he stays. It's time to stop fecking around and pay up. That he was on the bench indicates that his head has been turned. The club needs a boost badly.

Moyes is more then happy with the players he's got
