Ander Herrera is a Manchester United Player!

Just out of curiosity, how players have come to united as a result of a buyout clause being triggered? My guess is that there haven't been many.

I'm not surprised to be honest. It's rare for Spanish players to come play in England for reasons other than a bigger pay. That and the fact that we already have 2 Spanish players creating a good image of the club along with us being a bigger club than Bilbao. Then, there's the fact that no other big Spanish club has bid for Ander Herrera so far.

It's somewhat odd for Bilbao fans to criticize him for that. He's been offered a chance to play for Manchester United for feck sake, one awful season doesn't undo our overall stature.

This part really gets my goat :

"Keep in mind that the players are professionals and are selfish, as recently Del Bosque said. What surprises me is that the players always make the excuse of sports improvement, and in this case Herrera is going to a club that has been left out of Europe, so after all it's about money."

STFU Basque media. United is still one of the 3 biggest clubs in world football and have been out of Europe for just 1 season out of almost 20 ffs. Now we have clubs like Athletic (been out of the Champion's League since United's treble 1998/1999 season) tooting their horns and claiming their superiority for being in Europe when we're not. It's not about money, United is not bottom of the barrel City or PSG buying into our way to the top. It's about the prestige, success and history associated with United, something 99 % of the clubs can never match.

Let's not forget he's not Bilbao born and bred, he's a Zaragoza fan, born and raised. Played for the club. Bilbao are a step above them and United a step or two above Bilbao.

I think they're peeved that having finally made the Champions League, he's joining a club, no matter how big they are who aren't in the Champions League.

Paperwork problems delay Herrera deal...

"@Bassa_UTD: Ander Herrera's move to Man United held up by paperwork problem, deal is still on should be done by Friday [Cadena Ser]"

yes it would....but it would be traditional 'woody'

nah..think it will be fine.
They'd make the poor lad rot in the reserves until his contract runs down if it did.

Yeah it should be sorted soon.

It's not just that. Bilbao have a basque only policy: where do they get a proper replacement for Herrera now, even with the cash? It's a massive problem for them.

I'm starting to get a bad feeling about this. FFS I've already bought him on FIFA!
He will sign i'm very confident, you play your game and score some goals with him whilst the intricate details of this deal are sorted out.

It's a good job he's already in Manchester so we can hold him hostage until they agree to deal.

The Athletic Club wishes to report that this week rejected an offer from Manchester United FC, estimated at 36 million euros, to transfer the federation and economic rights of the player Ander Herrera.

What in the world ?!?!?!

This isn't going to happen is it, Bilbao is going to stall it until July 1st when his buy out clause goes up and we'll pull out.

What choice do Bilbao have in this though really?

If he has a release clause they are surely powerless. Maybe this is as a result of our dodgy paperwork.
