Ander Herrera is a Manchester United Player!

No it is not relevant, somewhere the story got started that every signing we make has to be announced to the stock market before hand and that really is not the case. Signings and player sales are a normal part of running a major football club.
It may not be relevant but it seems to be what the club are doing now so there is no ambiguity. Open to correction on it though.

NYSE is always relevant when a company makes an announcement of this kind. Most important announcements with financial implications are made before trading opens or after it closes.

For significant management changes yes - not player announcements.

Believe me - look it up.

Phil Neville's giving him to tour, complete with dialogue.

Phil: I know they're around somewhere

Woody: We've been waiting for 4 hours, Phil. You can show him another time

Phil: No, no they're here I know they are....ahhh, here they are. Now Ando, gather round, these are the set-piece folders from last season...

Thanks people!

4PM Local time close, so 9pm GMT. Might explain Mata being announced at about 9:30pm.

I expect Herrera to be announce in the next 2 hours judging by that.

Moysie will be getting super bitter as he sits at home.

Easy start fixtures wise
Fabregas was available
Looks like we're getting Herrera who he couldn't get.

Poor Moysie
Not going to change the fact that he was a weak manager with negative tactic and counter-productive training methods. Sooner or later he would be found out anyway, Fabregas/Herrera or not.

Interceptions is a vital stat missing off that chart there, something Carrick usuall excels in. Either way I need no convincing, it's going to be great to have somebody who can actually play football in midfield.

It's any announcement with financial implications. Earnings reports, investments etc.

What do you mean "look it up" they don't have a rule of football player signings.

De Gea's played like 10 mins for Spain, why the feck are people using not playing for Spain as justification for not being good enough FFS.

I would keep fellaini ahead of cleverly, who could offer us That impact off the bench. I feel cleverly young and nani are guarantees are completely useless, Those 3 could be replaced by a top wide player and a CM player , which would clear the wages for some better players especially young

I think we'd probably get at least £5-6million more for Fellaini and we're short on numbers in midfield, where Cleverley is probably slightly less of a liability than Fellaini. I agree about Fellaini he offers more overall when used as a target man.
Cleverley scored a goal?

Got the 3rd away to Villa

NYSE guidelines state what can/can't be announced during trading. It talks about significant management changes.

If we had signed Fabregas people would've been creaming themselves. Now that we're going to sign Herrera people are saying "so glad that we signed him instead of Fabregas," when he wasn't even on our radar anymore just a couple of days ago.

If LVG rates Ander higher than Cesc then who are we to question that.

He was clearly on our radar last year, and i for one was gutted when he didn't come, added to that Barca wanted shut of of Fabregas, rather than Bilibio been gutted Herrera is going, just sits better to me.

But yes in many ways you are right, if Fabregas had come instead then the cafe would have exploded!

Everybody on here was creaming themselves when we were in for him last summer and supposedly signed for him, it has nothing to do with Fabregas. It was a big surprise that we went back in for him, even a lot of reliable media sources said that they'd be surprised if we were interested again, that's why most lost interest in discussing a potential transfer. We thought that our interest stopped after the shambles last summer.

Fabregas is the better player at the moment, but Herrera will suit us more IMO. He's much more mobile.

I could be wrong but I don't think there has been a major player investment that has been announced mid-trading since we floated on the NYSE.

Opinionated football fans.

This forum would get awfully quiet come the new season if we never questioned our manager's decisions.

Yeah I agree but I trust Van Gaal's judgement. I'm sure the majority on here do also. If he didn't think Fabregas was a good fit for his team than thats fine by me. No point shoehorning players into the team for the sake of it.

I love stats. Statsy stats stats, down into my belly

So, this guy had last season more goals, more assists, more dribbles, more chances created and more shots than all our midfielders combined, and has around twice as much tackles as our best midfielder. Not bad at all.

I'm not saying that Cesc would've been a better signing, I'm just saying that a whole bunch of people are suddenly acting as though Fabregas is a second rate player since we didn't sign him.

Yeah, I agree, really. After last season, we need someone who has a clear idea of what he wants to do with us and for now our best bet is to assume this is all part of a masterplan.

EDIT - Just realised I started my post exactly as you started yours... What agreeable sorts we are.

Fair enough, I certainly see that too

NYSE is always relevant when a company makes an announcement of this kind. Most important announcements with financial implications are made before trading opens or after it closes.

It is customary to do things after the closing bell, but there is no prohibition on announcing news during market hours. Furthermore:

Annual and quarterly earnings, dividend announcements, mergers, acquisitions, tender offers, stock splits, major management changes, and any substantive items of unusual or non-recurrent nature are examples of news items that should be handled on an immediate release basis.

I wonder what it means for Nick Powell now that Herrera has been signed

There might not be a prohibition but practically you want anything that may impact on the share price to be given to the market at a time when they an digest it, not react immediately. As markets often react badly immediately, as they don't like change.
