Ander Herrera is a Manchester United Player!

Yes peeps. He's tall, just slightly taller than Hernandez who has a very similar build, im not talking about height here. Im talking about his frame and his core. He has a 'small body'. Thats just on appearance, I havent said it will affect his physicality

Loudblaze you do have a point there. Many Spanish/ Latin players struggle to adjust to the physicality of the Premier League (atleast initially). We saw the effects on De Gea who was frankly taken by surprise at the intensity of the game. That said a few months on United's diet/ weight program (that transformed Ronaldo/ De Gea/ Januzaj from weeds) will work wonders for Ander. :)

That may say more about the Spanish world cup squad...

Where was he playing for Athletic?

That is very true!

Mostly in Attacking Centre Midfield according to whoscored. Also from whoscored.com 3.1 tackles per game, 103 total tackles from 33 total apps.

yes he tackles but from a more offensive position. I'd say Rooney and Herrera would mean 2x #8 in midfield where at least one of them should be real #6 to protect defense

You don't necessarily need a "real" #6, you need two intelligent box to box, who understand when they need to cover the other one, so Rooney can't be one of them.

His passing seems suspect in many of these match highlights videos. His best asset seems to be his mobility and ball retention and determination.

Do we know when it's going to be announced?

Ander.......son-son-son
Oh no shit that's the wrong one
Anderson-son-son
We shipped that one out on loan
Shoots to the left, to the right
But he never hits the sight
Herrera's class
He can pass
Even Woody flashed the brasssss!

stats say the the same, with 81% success rate his passing is below most other top midfielders but Fellaini has 88% which sometimes says nothing as Tom with his sideways passing has > 90% sometimes.

I hope this breaks down. Surely for this kind of money we can get someone better than "better than Fellaini & Cleverley."
Im sure if we were after someone "better" and that "better" player wanted to come we would have got that player. The prices are messed up but he's a decent player who wont take too much space in the lockerroom. Honest player who i think we will all appreciate

Where are the 3 lawyers? There is no way this deal can be concluded without those 3

I think it'll be higher if played in CM, along with lower key passes. Generally when you play in the hole you are a bit more adventurous with your passes and give the ball away a bit more, trying to make things happen.

He's a good passer, nothing crazy

Excited about this.

I can see why some people might have concerns that a) he's overpriced and b) he's not an absolute top quality talent.

However, from all I've heard and the little bit I've seen, I get the impression that this guy is exactly the type of midfielder we'd want and has the personality to be a success here too.

He played as an AM last season by their new manager but will play deeper for us (in his preferred position).

My dinkles been dangling in the wind far too long over us signing a decent midfielder, ffs get a move on so I can tuck the poor sun shrivelled bastard back in.

I think even if he struggles to adapt to playing in a 2 man midfield (if thats what we play?) he'll still be an improvement on what we've had this season. I'd be concerned if he was the only midfielder we signed though

He's probably not going to outperform Fabregas next season, but he'll have a good go at it and will only improve. He's a top talent, make no mistake about that.

I imagine he will be announced between the world cup games or perhaps after if the stock market is a factor.

He's young, is a good passer, can be physical, proven as one of the better midfielders in La Liga. While he's no Fabregas he's certainly an improvement on what we're currently working with. I'm very confident that Van Gaal will make him an even better player, especially if we sign a player like Schweinsteiger as a more defensive type of midfielder Herrera will benefit even more. Think this is a great signing considering the circumstances. But as @Ekeke said, I would be concerned if he ended up being the only midfielder we sign, but I don't think that will happen.

I think many people will be suprised with Cesc next year. There is a reason why Barca sold him and why Arsenal didn't want him.

As for Herrera i rate him as third or fourth best spanish midfielder (behind Javi Martinez and Busquets on level or a little behind Koke).

Of course i don't think he is better than Iniesta, Silva or Mata but those are more AM than midfielders.

Which source has revealed he is at Carrington? I had a glance back the way, but all I can see is pages of predicted formations and people talking about their genitals.
