Well the majority of our squad are currently in Brazil...

Nani and Valencia at CM.I agree. The thing with LVG is that it isn't a 100% sure he has pulled similar rabbits out of his hats before for most teams he managed. Davids, Seedorf and Schweinsteiger are good examples. As easy as it is now to say "but those had great abilities for a CM" there was a time where nobody saw those abilities and everybody said they were wingers.
Nani and Valencia at CM.
They update it on a weekly basis nowadays so I wouldn't bet on it given they haven't budged his stats for the entire year.
Completely different players. Is he better than Matic?
Very pleased if this deal goes through. I think he will surprise many on here, in my opinion he is much more than the 'at least he's better than our current options' that some are describing him as. I think he genuinely has the talent to be real top class.
As for his lack of international recognition, I am sure that will come. Spain have pretty much had their midfield fixed for the past few years. People said the same about Fernandinho last summer, and he is one of the best midfielders in the league. Herrera will get his chance with Spain.
Without wanting to name names, there are bigger name midfielders we have been linked with this summer that I wouldn't have before Ander.
Now all we need is a player who can beat people up next to him and we will be set.
Many of the comments in the comments sections of the Spanish sports sites say that he is shit and is not worth what United paid.
I don't watch Spanish football, so I don't know. Are these comments accurate?

no. bilbao are in the champions league and have played well against teams like barca and madrid last season. i made it a point to watch those games and i felt herrera played a big role in those games. he isnt suited to the spanish game (like fabregas), maybe thats why he isnt appreciated as much. Many of the comments in the comments sections of the Spanish sports sites say that he is shit and is not worth what United paid.

Pass me the KokeWe're becoming good at this. First De Gea, then Mata and now Herrera.
Anders riding the small horse...

The medical is carried out under United's instructions. It's not like a 3rd party comes along and tells us whether he's passed or not. We can sign injured players as long as their recovery is going well.
Heck, we can sign injured players even if they recovery is going badly.
He is what we need, he will be one hell of a signing. He's good and probably not worth the money.
But hopefully he'll improve
So, is this lad any good?
Spanish papers are saying he isn't, he is good defensively and I reckon also attackingly but his passing stats aren't great. So, is this lad any good?
Piece of the puzzle. Martinez wasn't worth what Bayern paid either, but he was what they needed to go forward.
Since when has Martinez ever went forward?
But thats exactly my point. Having someone like Carrick next to Herrera would be a waste. even though he thrives in a 3-man midfield, if we were to play him in a double pivot or just as a box to box player next to a playmaker, his partner in the middle has to be a player who has similar energy levels and enjoys getting stuck in as much as herrera does (in fact the whole team must play that way) or else one of the best parts of his game, which is his pressing and winning the ball will be lost. theres no use in only few players pressing and others not doing it. carricks style is not to press but to block angles of passing from further away. I dont think that would compliment herrera. Im just trying to emphasize that we need another central midfield singning.
Yup. He was also a target of Barcelona, although they managed to get Rakitic for cheaper."Is he any good?"
If form was a factor for Spains starting squad, he should of been starting, along with Koke and Busy, the most consistent and freshest throughout the year. You gotta remember Real Madrid have £70m worth of Spanish talent didn't go either, and neither of them were in imo overvalued, they just got them while they had to, which was a year too soon maybe.
Actually believe Schweinsteiger was the one who stayed back more often than Martinez did but a Bayern fan may correct me. Even though they took turns as they were both capable as the more offensive and more defensive central midfielder. That is what you get if you buy the best.
Could you imagine if he got a worldwide ban and Liverpool couldn't play him and couldn't sell him either. The "could this day get any better?" posts:
Surarez probably banned from the World Cup and possibly facing a lengthy ban from football - is that even better still?
I keep hoping this thread title will change to deal done everything I refresh and then I can click on to see him holding a United shirt after signing a 5 year deal.
But he'd come back after his lengthly ban to bang Liverpool up the league. Keep it an international ban so he can still be sold this summerCould you imagine if he got a worldwide ban and Liverpool couldn't play him and couldn't sell him either.
I say we milk the shit out of the prospect of it being a done-deal & then go full muppet..
Oh, and its alleged that its a 4yr deal too DMC
