Ander Herrera is a Manchester United Player!

Significantly better than the aforementioned, albeit playing in a much better system in a different role. The last game I remember seeing him in was vs Sevilla who aren't too bad, and he was just all over the place, doing everything, defending like a seasoned DM, popping ballsy passes off at every opportunity, contributing with a goal. He's no Iniesta but he's got more ability than you appear to give him credit for.
'Playmaker' style DM's rarely make it in the premier league. I don't think I can really remember the last proper 'playmaker' style deeper midfielder. I am also sceptical.

He really was fantastic during the second half of last season. I'd love it if we signed him. Cocks on hold.

I already have a poster of him on my wall that I kept in reserve from the last time we supposedly signed him. It's going to be different this time though, I can feel it!

He is not a DM but a box to box, very good technically, good passer, good tackler and a bit of "cnut" a la Busquets.

If I remember right FCBarca didn't seem to rate him much last summer when we were linked to him but a few other posters did (along with journalists like Hunter who said he'd be a potential future captain for us if we got him).

I'd love to know what posters who've watched him regularly think of him now?
I watch a lot of La Liga, it's pretty much my usual Sat and Sun night viewing from what I seen of him he's pretty good but not in the £28m bracket but he is a cm and we need at least one of those things, I still don't believe this story though!

Cardena broke this story and they've usually spot on before anyone else catches wind of the story
Can't say I've ever followed them. What else have they called right?

Don't think Herrera would have to much difficult adapting to the PL (from what I've seen). He's not likely to find the physicality too difficult as he's a) 6ft as opposed to the standard Spanish midget and b) a scrappy, niggly and irritating presence by all accounts.

 Herrera! That last /2nd last day of last season's transfer window was the most disappointing transfer related day ever! From the conviction that Herrera was firmly in the bag to the harsh reality of signing Fellaini.
Well at least this time we are not waiting until the last day again. If he is gettable again, then let's sign him. But I don't believe it, he is still young and surely doesn't want to leave now when Bilbao have qualified for the CL!
Well at least I'll spend another day at work clicking F5 every 30 seconds

Players holding up the shirt, usually. Not 'he said she translated purple beret soldier march Herrera signing' articles. I said before, when he's on the club website holding up the shirt then I'll believe we've signed/were signing him.

You've just decided he's not good though.

There is definitely more room in the PL for a bit of scrap. It's a different kind of scrap, however. The shout above about Arteta, I'll pay that. He has the kind of scrap I am talking about.

You've jumped to that conclusion on the basis of my saying the signing has me sceptical about his ability. That is half the fun of transfers, though isn't it? Watching a player mould and grow.

Marca are saying he's already been in England, probably just rehashing other stories though.

Meh, nothing will beat last year's saga with the "impostors" thing. I never laughed so hard in the transfer forum as back then.

This is hilarious, wonder how long it will be before this thread is locked. Muppet season is truly in full flow again. Where did this come from?
I doubt this will happen, it's probably the spanish Daily Star getting a story from caughtoffside via goal. It's filtering now to the UK media like the plague, entertaining here in the caf tonight though:)

This can't be true. From all accounts, an average year in Spain. Surely not a £30m outlay on this guy?

Check whoscored.com ratings for Bilbao players. There's no better way to gauge these things.

Cardena Ser broke it. They are about as reliable as you get.

According to that Mail article, his buyout clause increases after June 30th.

At least that means this won't drag on for too long...if we want him we have to act quick(ish).

According to my friend (Barca fan) he's a good little player that will offer us mobility and a bit of bite in midfield. He's a good passer and isn't afraid of getting stuck in. He's not a pure DM but does a bit of everything and is currently a definite improvement om what we have (not so difficult to achieve that). He reckons we'd still need a more defensive partner next to him, especially against the top 4, but all sounds encouraging. I have to admit I only saw him in the two matches against us a couple of years ago and thought he was immense at the time. Have no idea how he's developed or anything like that but he seems like a decent signing even if he's a bit over priced. If all of this is true of course.
