Ander Herrera is a Manchester United Player!

I'll be honest and say I know next to nothing about Ander. But why do so many people seem happy to spend 30m on him but no one seemed to want Fabregas and even Schweinsteiger for 20m got mixed receptions on here. Is he that good?

Is there some Spanish player that isn't best friends with Agent De Gea or I'm starting believing this story.

Maybe Fabregas and Schwi decided not to join us.!?

There were specific reasons for some being unsure about those two in particular:
Many had doubts about Fabregas' positioning, tactical discipline, and over-eagerness to get forward rather than control play.
And some had doubts about whether Schweinsteiger was past it, on the way down, or simply worth buying at the expense of someone younger (the type of player Bayern would replace him with).

Herrera's not as good as either of them, but he's younger than both, more disciplined than Fabreagas and still has it all to prove and win. There's also probably the subconscious desire football fans often have to sign a younger, newer player. Fabreags and Scweinsteiger are kind of old news now.

However I wouldn't say so many are happy to spend £30 million on him, as many are unsure if he's worth anything like that.

I personally think he'd be great here. He's one of the most energetic midfielders around, disciplined, very good off the ball, and isn't afraid to try the riskier pass, which is something we could do with alongside someone more solid and secure.

That has nothing to do with posters on here not wanting Fabregas or Schweini.

Not really. People had hesitations over Schweinsteiger injury record and age.

Also the fact Fabregas last played Centre midfield like 5 years ago. Nobody didn't want them.

I really like him and I'd be delighted if we got him. He's a really intelligent player and I think he'd be great under LVG. It's actually realistic for a change too, so I'm excited that it could happen.

Well, I think he's a good player but overall Fabregas/Rakitic/Kroos are certainly better individually. But, Louis wants him and thats fine for me. With Van Gaal, it's more important to have a cohesive team than a group of individuals (look at that Netherlands team right now!), and Herrera is much more complete than the aforementioned. The money doesn't really matter I think, as long as we sign the right players.

I'm not a fan of judging players from youtube videos, but some of the passes on that video are great. He seems to have great vision and awareness, as well as a perfected weighted pass. I doubt you would find as many good incisive passes if you made a video of all of our central midfielders from last season.

Also, not only is he a top midfielder, he's also the highest ranked female poker player of all time, which is impressive. Won his third WSOP bracelet this year.

What a man our Dave is. He's like Spanish footballing superhero or something. Shot stopper in the day and lethal agent at night.

The fact that all these stories have come up so suddenly makes me think that there must be something in it.

Van Gaal knows what he's doing. If he wants Ander then buy him.

Here's one of those videos that shows all his touches in a game, this one v Barcelona:

Well it could be like every other rumour where they all just piggyback on an individual 'source' on the outside chance that it's true.

Crazy price, who else in the world was gonna pay that? Apparently he was on the bench more often than not last season, they want a 36mil bench warmer?

Anyway, the important thing is he is indeed the sort of midfielder we need. Hope it's all true.

Nah, he was benched a few times early on in the season due to what happened with us, but as the season went on he played most games and started too: http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ander-herrera/leistungsdaten/spieler/99343

That's the way football is going. If we want quality then we are going to have to stump up the cash. From what I've seen of Herrera I reckon he'd be worth it as well.

I just mean that no one else seems to be looking to buy him for that price or near it, so why hold onto him rather than take 30mil?

I guess they called this one correctly if we ended up paying it, but seems a heck of a risk. They must think he is the real deal.
