Any chance we can appeal this?

Don't think you can appeal yellow cards...

Terrible decision by the ref, it was painfully obvious that it was a slip... The trully bad thing is that Herrera makes this formation tick, i hope we play Carrick instead of Fellaini.

Trouble we have is he might play Carrick on Thursday as it is away in Europe so he can't play next weekend. At least Ander can play in that game.

This is what you get with aggressive players that get stuck in a lot. Two marginal situations today.

On the whole, it is probably worth it. He adds so much to the team in terms of winning the ball back, its inevitable that he is late in the tackle occasionally.

He could've been sent off earlier in the season as well.

Of course it is and I don't want him to change. We need that in the team, the rest can be too soft.

In fairness Herrera has gotten away with a few, Stoke at home for example. he's beena red card waiting to happen. shame it was on a poor decision but its been coming for a while.

It's a slip and just bad luck, but it is still a yellow card, unfortunately.

that was two bad decisions by ref imo, he did well to go for the first tackle as someone I think Pogba totally messed up and it was needed to stop their counter, he also pulled away so it looked more dangerous than it was...

Second one, he slipped, was harsh, clattenburg enjoys acting like a star of the night, what would you expect from him, all the so called "world class referees" would go for the second yellow..

but how about that Flanagan's handball, clear yellow and that cnut shit his pants and doesnt give the second yellow, just hate this..

until then he was having a good game again..

Bad luck or not, it was a yellow card offense.
Stupid to get sent off against Burnley with 80% possession.
He's played really dirty lately, was just a matter of time before he got sent off tbh.
He slipped! it wasn't a poor decision, it wasn't even a decision!

He has committed 3 fouls today, 2 of which were accidental, but they've earned him 2 yellows. Maybe it wouldn't have happened if Herrera had had some defensive help in form of Carrick or Schneiderlin as a midfield partner, because as of now he's expected to do too much and that is to: harrass, defend, create, hold positional shape and offer partners a passing lane.

Love me a good first touch.

Little help here?

That wouldn't satisfy the condition for a yellow card.

Neither do, infact. He pulled out the first challenge and visibly tried to avoid any impact from the slip in the second.

I thought the Burnley players got him sent off with their theatrics. He can't complain though as our Herrera is prone to the odd shriek of agony.

It isn't a yellow but it is perfectly feasible that the ref didn't see that. A City player got a yellow playing against us in the cup game mid week for exactly the same thing.

Iheanacho I think.

Yeah but to have two bad shouts for a yellow is a poor call all round.

he shouldn't of been sent of as it was a slip, but think this is gonna become a real problem for us as he isnt the best tackler in the world and he is been asked to play in a position where he has to make a lot of tackles.... he is gonna pick up a shed load of cards!

*Carrick and Schneiderlin are waving hello whilst standing before sunset* (no, they're not holding themselves using their other arms)

Yet his passing is to erratic to play as a 6 and he's not creative enough to play as a 10 so where does he play?

i dont think his passing is erratic. tackling yes, passing no.

i think Herrera has always been an 8, also think like pogba would function best in a midfield 3.

Aye, he's got lovely ball control and he always seems to use his first touch to set himself for the next pass - he reminds me of Scholes in that aspect of his play. Reads the game exceptionally well, and is good enough to basically dictate the pace of the game. I remember around the time of the FA cup games vs Preston and Cambridge thinking that he stood out a mile as being a very dynamic player in a team that was unbearably ponderous and impotent. I wanted the team to be built around him at the time, and am I ecstatic that after last season, he has found his mojo. That he is just so committed is the icing on the cake.

I don't mind the sending off today. Both cards were silly, in retrospect, but that's the price you pay at times for playing with intensity and energy in your pressing and retention game.

Hopefully Mourinho won't steal the old "Ander takes a suboptimal step on the pitch so he's out of the team for a few months" trick from the Van Gaal playbook.

Never a second yellow in a million years. He clearly slips and it's a poor call IMO.

Question for your guys: is he a long term successor to Carrick in the holding role or is he better playing in that 8 position?

If Pogba is fit he plays, that's what it looks like. We've got Mata playing brilliantly in the hole with Mkhitaryan waiting in the wings as well. Therefore it's not looking likely we'll be playing with 3 in there anytime soon.

Can we develop into a 6 long term?

Should just make him official captain when hes on the pitch and Rooney isnt there (which should hopefully be a lot of matches).
Hopefully he doesnt curb his aggression and pressing.

Rapidly becoming my favourite player. Unbridled passion, he's like a real Utd fan. Unfortunate sending off.
Captain in the making.

You are on drugs if you think he's anything like Scholes maybe in height but otherwise I'm struggling. I like Herrera but he's been underwhelming since joining. The fact you stated vs Preston and Cambridge games means something surely? He has shown nothing to suggest he can dictate play for us. His choice of passing is erratic he does have a good touch but so do a lot of players his passing is very limited. Good player to have but we need better in my opinion.

Don't talk bollocks, he just needs to learn to stay on his feet. The first yellow he went sliding in for no reason, the guy was on the floor!. 2nd was more unlucky but he has a habit of running forward too quickly and misjudging the opponent coming forward. Having a partner who's more defensive won't change how he plays.
