Hopefully Ten Hag goes first, and the new manager will have a very good player to work with. Don’t know why people are getting mad about Antony, he picked a fecking left back to play as a 10 instead of Amad. That’s worse by a long shot.
 
But Zirkzee has obviously shown a LOT more so far. Soooooo much more. He deserves more starts.
Antony has also been streets ahead, right? Also clearly deserves to be ahead.
Our new RB is also ahead of him in the pecking order, makes a ton of sense.

If Amad had half a season in Eredivisie he would have been starting more games for us.
 
Obviously Ten Hag doesn't fancy him, prefers a more direct winger for quick transition. Early start of the season where we look more in control seems to be more accidental than something that we actually strive for.
 
So he's not happy about Antony being brought on before him? If that's the case, he can leave; we don't need players with that kind of attitude on the team. He hasn't really proven himself to be significantly better than Antony anyways, and their age difference isn’t substantial. It looks like he's caught the same attitude that has affected Garnacho, thinking he’s better than he truly is.

Give your head a wobble. Antony is literally useless, and was only brought on because our equally useless manager wants to prove some kind of point to the detriment of the team. Anyone would be deeply disappointed with this scenario.
 
Him, Mainoo and Garnacho need to get the feck out of here. They shouldn't be signing new contracts and if they do, need release clauses in them.

Nah, based on what they have shown for us, there's barely anything between them. Amad's just marginally better that's about it. Certainly shown nothing to warrant that kind of attitude to feel he should be automatically starting ahead of others. He's also has been competing for a starting spot with Garnacho and Rashford not Antony. If you are moaning just because another teammate got substituted ahead of you then that isn't the kind of attitude we want in the team anyways. You do what the manager asks of you, end of. Doesn't matter if its Antony coming on ahead of you or if the manager is ETH who everyone thinks is shit.

Yeah they should. Then maybe we can properly get some decent wingers in the team ahead of Garnacho and Amad who can play for the team instead of the one who is moaning because a teammate got on the pitch ahead of him for like 20-25mins and the other who thinks he's Ronaldo reincarnate and always goes for glory instead of playing in his teammates who are in better goalscoring positions.
 
Absolutely mind blowing, being the best winger start of the season and after one neutral game see himself after Antony in the pecking order.

He’s done nothing to deserve losing his starting role, let alone being dropped behind Anthony in the pecking order.
 
Feel for this kid.

Did well pre season and in the opening games of the season, only to get dropped for players who are performing far worse than what he had shown.

He needs a coach who actually plays him. He is a talented kid who knows how to play but our deluded manager has no idea how to man manage and develop the player.

He hasn't shown enough to definitively justify being ahead of Antony in the pecking order either. Besides, Antony came on as a substitute for about 20-25 minutes, and outside of the game against Barnsley, he barely played this season.

Additionally, the starting wingers have been Garnacho and Rashford, not Antony. In my view, it's essentially a toss-up between him and Antony at the moment, and it appears ETH favored Antony for this particular game. If he's unhappy about a teammate being substituted in ahead of him, then it reflects an attitude issue, especially considering he hasn't consistently demonstrated the level of ability required to secure a spot. That's not an attitude I'd want in the team. Prove yourself at the level of world class players first then that kind of attitude gets a pass.

Rubbish. There are countless top players who have been annoyed at their manager for starting someone else ahead of them, or subbing them off. It’s a perfectly normal thing that happens in football, especially amongst players who have confidence their ability and are desperate to play and make an impact. That’s actually exactly the sort of attitude we need in this team.

He’s not a kid, definitely talented though. He could have done with showing a bit more when he has played. He’s not exactly done what Mason Greenwood did coming through. I think he can be really good for us and the coach needs to go, but Amad’s not quite shown what some make out.
 
The football IQ of some fans on this forum is on the same level as our starting wide forwards in this team. You either get it or you don’t.

Amad has had the luxury of being a starter for us for about 6-7 competetive games, and was one of the best on the pitch for the first three, at the end of last season. Was ok but nothing special at the first few games this season.
Antony has been here for about 2 and a half years now and has, somehow, about the same amount of good games as Amad has.


If you think Antony has ”consistently demonstrated the level of ability required to secure a spot” or to even be ahead of someone else i don`t know what to say.
What has Mazraoui done to earn a spot as a starter as a number 10 for Manchester United?
What has Zirkzee done so far to earn a spot as a starter up front for us? I mean, you think Amad has been poor…

This is much more about Erik being a weird and stubborn guy than the actual quality and attitude of Amad.
 
Has this all got something to do with contract talks? That he doesn't want to extend? It feels weird that Antony would be in front of him for getting subbed on in Europa league.

Something must be up - I remember seeing a stat that for xGI performance he was among the best (in the league) for the first games of the season before he got benched.

Edit: Can you really blame EtH and INEOS if Amad has decided to stall the contract talks/run his contract down, while having delivered nothing for us in the grand scheme of things, when we paid a massive fee?

Who would want to develop someone who's not here for the project and longer term? On top of that, if we assume Amad is not here for the long term, it hinders your biggest paid player in playing - would be weird to just stuff a 300.000 weekly-wage Rashford on the bench for nothing.

Amad isn't quick enough, nor does he have the engine, for EtH's "system". Been abundantly clear for a while now.

I do think that's what ETH thinks, our tactics at the moment do seem to be sit a bit deeper and gain the advantage on attack with quick wingers. The thing is Amad has successfully been involved in plenty of counter attacks and his tackling is good so I don't think it's true.

Whether he's an automatic starter is questionable and they should rotate. However he should be the one coming on at 60 minutes if he doesn't start.

We don’t really create anything in possession though. Most of our chances come from fast counters which Amad is not suited to.
