Anyone else catch the reaction shot after his winner of the joyful Manc lad in the stands wearing an Amad kit with the back side facing forward
There was a clip before his hat trick of a little kid holding his Amad scarf up which was cute

He pushed up out of rwb to get his goals, he's clearly a far superior 10 to rbw.
His first goal was while he was playing RWB, just getting into an attacking position which is where he's supposed to be getting into. After the Maguire and Eriksen subs we seemed to move to a back four and Amad was more of an out-and-out attacker, which is where he scored his latter two.

I'm equally happy with him in either position at the moment, so it'll be interesting to see which position Amorim prioritises to strengthen (if we buy a RWB then Amad will predominately play as #10, or vice versa).

his second goal also comes from coming inside from the wide position.

I think Onana, Mazraoui and Bruno aren't that far behind him. But yes, he's still ahead of them. If the vote was tonight he'd for sure win (even without recency bias)

Nobody should be shock you say this. Despite Amad winning us derby, tonight and getting the point v Liverpool of course for you Bruno is player of season. When is he not?

Waste of post. Amad has been levels above anyone for us this season for impact and performance. Breath of air.

I'm surprised people are saying he was poor until the goals. For most of the first half I thought he was our most dangerous player, easily the most likely to create something. There was a 20-30 minute period in the middle of the match where he was quiet, but then obviously burst back into life at the end.

As others have said, it's amazing it's taken until now before he's really got his chance. While he's obviously taken it to another level, right from his first season (20/21) he was quite impressive when he got chances. He was good on the ball and combined well with others, was dangerous with his dribbling, pressed well, competed surprisingly well physically considering his size...basically all the same things he's doing now. He probably wasn't ready to be a regular starter back then, but he definitely should have got more chances than he's had over the years. Other than maybe being a bit more of a natural goal-scorer than I thought, nothing he's doing now is surprising.

Nice bit of stat padding tonight against the team rock bottom of the table ;)

12 G/A in the Prem

Shame he is having to do all the heavy lifting, but I can only see Bruno helping out, the rest are still miles off!

It does, but by that stage it seemed he was playing as an outright attacking winger rather than a wingback. The shape of the team was quite different, with him staying up much higher and Antony coming a bit more central. The rest of the defenders had seemed to shuffle over as well to cover for him not coming back anymore. At least, that's how it all seemed to me once we made those last subs. Or definitely in between the first and second goals anyway, after the second perhaps Antony had moved back to wingback and left Amad as a #10? It was only a few minutes and I wasn't really focusing on the shape by that stage.

I saw his full potential at sunderland, the fans up there idolised him. Now we are seeing why. He is awesome.
Speed, quick feet, persistence, skill, finishing.

This guy is actually insane. Wanted him to get a chance under Ten Hag but never in my wildest dreams did I expect him to be as good as this when he did get that chance.

I'm a massive amad fan but second half until the goal he was poor.

Takes a lot of football intelligence to be playing as wing back and score a hattrick. That means he made use of moments in the game properly. Complete finishing. One with dribbling, second is a first time, and third from him pressing. A MAD performance

Correct -winner and team player
And don’t forget still very very young .
That smile as well -great to see .
Like a ray of sunshine after the dark days you’ve had
He brought us that too and I think in no small part his presence helped our other youngsters “ grow “
We are now reaping those rewards
Thanks Amad

He was never hard working.
Rashford actually was fairly hard-working in his first couple of seasons under LVG and Mourinho. I think it was Mourinho's last season where it started declining, then just seemed to get progressively worse almost every season. At first people overlooked it because it corresponded with his attacking form really picking up though.

What a performance! Fast becoming my favourite player in the team.

Some united fan called into talk sport there and said united should cash in on Amad now then recall Sancho from loan... :):):):) clowns

They have to be using paid for actors

If you watched him at Sunderland, it wasn't glimpses. A few of us here used to watch Sunderland and discuss his games. He was a consistent game changer after the first few weeks of getting to know his teammates.

I'll be honest, there was a tiny bit of doubt as to whether he'd be able to do it in the PL, but it was clear he was at least miles better than Antony.

The loan to Rangers was a farce. I believe Gerrard was the one who got him in and then promptly left?
Either way, he did very well his first game or (may have even scored), then if I remember correctly, Van Bronkhorst threw him into the Old firm derby away, he had a poor game in a match where Celtic completely outplayed Rangers, and after that, he was out in the cold and only played if there was absolutely no one available.

He got bullied a few times during his loan at Rangers. He didn't react well which led me to think of another Possebon scenario. He played timid for most of the stint at Rangers there after, though his stats were quite impressive.

Van Bronkhorst thought he was getting a finished product. He was even given the starting #9 jersey! Ridiculous for a short term loanee.

What he needed coaching and acclimatising. But instead was thrown into the deep end. Even at Sunderland he was slow to get up to speed. But thankfully Mowbray had patience and understood the need to bring him in slowly. Even changed his game too. Added an end product to his skillset, got him to shoot more

I was really frustrated with him for about 80 minutes.

When we needed people to get into the box to pull defenders or receive a ball he just stood there on the wing. A few times we passed to him as the only option but by then they had all their defenders in place. There was no desire to run and try and make something happen without the ball.

Also in the first half he would stand rock still to receive the ball, turn and telegraph his sideways pass.

Then for 10 minutes he turned into a wizard and produced 3 goals, and won us the match. Without him, there was no chance of us scoring.

I've genuinely not seen a player quite so naturally talented at pressing. His timing is usually spot on. Got a brain for sure.

He would probably tell you that he created this finished product from previously unrefined material.

Funnily enough some posters here have genuinely tried to argue that what we’re seeing from Amad now is all thanks to how carefully Ten Hag managed his game time in the ost coupe seasons.

He was poor for his standards as he had quite a few misplaced passes and dribbles. However, the context is that he was coming deep almost right next to Yoro because we weren't progressing the ball at all due to Southampton's high press and it was his close control, hesitations and feints that helped alleviate the pressure. Once again we played our most progressive player the furthest back to accommodate players like Garnacho. Anytime he had the ball in the first half past the halfway line, he pushed them with his dribbling.

He doesn't have a lot of off the ball movement into the final third because generally speaking we need him on the ball and tbh I wouldn't trust a Bruno or Garnacho lofted ball into box i.e it would lead to a counter attack. When the time calls for it, he's in the box but there's no point moving if your team mates on the ball are looking for obvious options. In the first half, the majority of the time he was near his own penalty box in his own half surrounded by Southampton as they were pressing our entire team. He didn't have a great game by any means during that period but expecting him to have movement when the team wasn't holding onto the ball it in the first half and then when the team needed passing options in the second half is looking it at wrong.

Whichever scout found him has done an absolutely amazing job

I love the timing of his pressing more than anything else. The way he closes space down at the perfect time and that too late in games is pretty incredible.
