Alvaro Morata | Real Madrid inform Juventus of their decision to salvage Morata's federative rights

Somebody help me out here..

Sky are saying Real are looking certain to activate their £24m buy back clause to sell Morata for £38m. But why would another interested not just bid £25m to Juventus? (they would accept it because its £1m more) So then Morata could just have the option to move straight to that club rather than fart arse around with Madrid who just want to use him for money

There are clauses in the deal which took him to Juve.
If Juve sell him before the buyback option expires they will have to pay Real something like 80% of the fee.
Real were basically smart, they put a buy back option, and also included a massive penalty for selling to someone else, it basically structured like loan which can turn into a permanent deal, and gives Real all the control.

That makes a lot more sense! Thanks!

Subbed off for Aduriz with 30mins to go... would much rather pick up Embolo if were going for a young attacker. Embolo seems a lot cheaper too.

To be fair, I don't think the Spanish national team uses his strengths. I'm not saying he's a £40Million player but you have to get crosses in the box to use his height. He's a good player but I don't think he'll be as good as Torres,David Villa,Raul or any of the great strikers Spain had in the past and for that reason it'll be hard to get behind a big money move for him right now.

Well if you cannot play well when you're a forward playing for a team with 70% possession and 20 shots with the ball constantly kept around the penalty area and you don't score much for the best Serie A side who also tend to dominate most their games, chances are you won't be proficient for the next club you are at either.

He's generally mediocre for juve in the league but one of their best players in the CL. The reason for that is as you say Juve are utterly dominant in most serie a games so there isn't much space to run into, as is the case for the Spanish national team. Put him in a team that gets lots of their reward in transition I reckon he'll be a better player.

60m€ for a striker who never scored more than 8 league goals in a season is proper mental. Nowhere near good enough for a top team.

I watched the game earlier with extra importance so I could witness Morata (although have watched him several times for Juve) and whilst he is quite strong on the ball and makes a lot good runs its looks like he could play for hours on end without ever scoring. Big no thanks for me especially at the ridiculous prices quoted. Hopefully Sweden get knocked out in group so we can get Zlatan sorted.

I hope we stay clear of him, he doesn't have a clear strong point, he has a good hold up play but he is not physically strong, similarly he is not great in the air for a player of his height, he has average pace and dribbling, i don't think any sane club will pay more than 20 M for him, except West ham they start their bidding with 30 Million. :D

I think Morata ultimately gets sold for a much lower price than some of the ridiculous sums quoted. Even with the huge inflation in transfer prices and the short supply of top level strikers, I don't see anybody paying 60M euro for this guy. Many of the links also just seem like classic lazy journalist rumor mongering - "He played for Mourinho, so lets link him with United, he was recruited by Conte to Juve so lets link him with Chelsea."

I felt he did well - lots of good runs and was good on the ball, however I can see why people wouldn't want him - he doesn't strike me as a finisher at all. I'd like him at United if it was a similar fee to what we sold Welbeck for.

I actually think he's got a lot of quality but I think there are more deadly forwards in Spain that Del Bosque simply doesn't intend to gamble on

The Giroud comparisons are terrible though, Morata is a much more complete forward

Yea, he does look as if he has a lot about him, his overall game is pretty good, his goalscoring record however is poor, Welbeck similarities may be somewhat apt.

Ibra for free, or £50 million for this fella, just no competion.

We need blow our big money on a right winger and top CB, get Ibra and Kante for the striker and midfield positions

The buy back option ends in July, anyone can sign him from Juventus in August without Real Madrid having any say in it. But if Juve sell him before that, they have to pay Madrid 80m Euros.

Which leads me to think, Juve are not just going to sell him back to Madrid if the interest in Morata from else where is real. They will just wait 2 months and sell him to the highest bidder if that is what they want to do. Real are hoping and depending on forcing Morata to sign for them.

They won't have a choice if the clause is setup properly

Sorry I had forgotten to add the line about Moratta agreeing. Juve can be forced to agree the fee but Morata still has to accept and agree Real Madrid terms. If he is only being bought to be sold on, why would he do it?

I guess they can sweeten the deal for him, pay him some sort of fee to do it.

Where on earth has the hype come from?

He didn't even start for Juventus at the end of the season and he looked poor this week.

Funny. I always thought of him as a predatory striker with not much else in his favour, but it's the complete opposite way around. Just doesn't have that ruthlessness in the box even though he does seemingly pick up promising positions like in Spain's first game. That said he did drop deep too much. Looks like a physical presence though; good hold-up and link-up play.

Wouldn't mind if Arsenal sign him. Is he any better than Giroud? Quite similar players in fact and Arsenal's issues upfront will still remain.

He's one of the most underrated players on this forum because he doesn't have fancy stats.

Meh, consider the midfield feeding him. Even with Juventus quality midfield feeding him his stats is shit.

This Spain midfield currently feeding him is so good it should be considered cheating.

He actually looks a really good player, just his goal tally is low, but Torres goal scoring wasn't exactly jaw dropping until he came to the Preimer League.
You look at him and think if he could quite easily make the next step up.

I still dont want to touch him at the prices being quoted though. :(

He's such a likable player. The midfield behind him just now is ridiculous but I've seen him a few times now and he's a pretty good overall player. Yes his stats might not be magnificent but that's not the be all and end all on whether a player is good. I remember people used to criticize Tevez because his scoring statistics weren't always great, but the guy was such a top player that he didn't need to always be scoring to make an impact for us. Morata will be the same if he comes to the Premier League. His price tag is extortionate but whoever gets him is getting a very good player.

Still not impressed by this guy. I hope arsenal or whoever pay 40 million for him.

Scoring 2 goals with this spain midfield is really nothing. Not a bad player but is very overrated.

Madrid want 60m for a player with 15 goals in 63 league games for Juve FFS. The front of that club is beyond a joke.
