So you think punching it straight up is a normal and desirable action in the situation?
No but in the same way a good shot might go in and GK gets some fingers on it, I wouldn't really blame the keeper.

His kicking was bad and as seen in his last game even his shot stopping was a bit dodgy but I must add, it's probably incredibly difficult to build any rhythm or form with the extremely limited amount of minutes he's had. He's at an age where he really should be playing a lot of minutes to find the connections with his team mates and improve his all around game. That's why Romero was so fecking good for us. Unless we start challenging for every competition next season, Bayindir is going to bide his time. It's probably a good headache for Amorim though to have somewhat of a capable second gk.

Very happy for him to have his day in the sun. Saving two pens in the same game will always make you MOTM. I think once the giddiness subsides a little, in the cold light of day he has shortcomings that means that he shouldn’t be in our first team. But he deserves another punt in the next round of the cup.

Yeah, kind of where I fell. Obviously difficult to say that last night after such a thrilling win, but I've never seen a keeper kick the ball out so many times from goal kicks. It was weirdly consistent.

Liked his post match interview. Held a proper speech and his imitation of the fans was great

Can see why Bruno described him as crazy in a good way and being a positive influence in the locker room. Seems to be a likable character. Good to have a back up who doesn’t throw his toys out of the pram, much like Heaton.

Can imagine it was a bit toxic having Henderson in the squad with his attitude. He came across rarely well when describing his time at United on Ben Fosters’ podcast though.

No player in 154 years of FA's history saved both normal time penalty and extra time penalty in the same game. EVER. This record will last a generation. He MUST start the next game now. Its only proper.

I'd like to see him get a run of 5-6 league games, maybe that cup game he shed some fears and we see him able to be more solid overall.

Onana for me has added an extra layer of vulnerability since coming in, he's not really settled and looks slow and heavy and lacking concentration too often. I don't have much faith in either but willing to give Bayindir a go.

Will probably start in the Europa league. Amorim has to show discipline by dropping Onana for a few games.

While he saved our bacon against Arsenal, let's not forget he also gifted them a goal. Whatever we do with Onana, I have a hard time seeing Bayindir as the solution

Nah, not really, it should have been a better punch but it wasnt the reason we conceded.
Of course it was. It could've been prevented after his poor punch, but the situation is over if he just does his job correctly.

It happens, but with our first choice goalkeeper being prone to clangers, I'm not convinced another inconsistent keeper prone to costly errors is the answer. A steady Eddie would help much more

He's been barely playing, needs games, how many he's been in the goal, about 3?
I dont think he's the answer but Onana needs a rest, that's for sure.

Not long term but we do look much more assured in the back with him. Our defence seem very nervy in front of Onana.

I'm not sure he's played enough for a statement like this. Did we look much more assured vs Arsenal than vs Liverpool, for example?

I think the two games against Arsenal are a easy way to compare. We looked completely lost on corners in the first match and Onana couldnt impose himself. In the second match with Altay in goal we didnt have nearly as much trouble with their corners.

I think the fact that Rice wasn't on from the start in the cup game may have had an impact here. His deliveries in the first game were bang on the money.

His terrible punch absolutely did, it was a blunder in the vein of Onana
It was an error, but nowhere near in the vein of Onana's two yesterday for example.
It wasn't a great punch, it wasn't a great attempted header away after from, I think, Mainoo, and the shot, which was straight at Bayindir, took a massive deflection and went in the corner.
Bayindir had some responsibility, but nowhere near the cock ups we have seen recently from his compatriot.

Altay also conceded direct from a corner vs Spurs. And spent about 60 mins shanking the ball out of play under no pressure & gifted Arsenal a goal.

It's genuinely a more credible shout to give Tom Heaton a go rather than Bayindir at this stage.

The goal from the corner against Spurs was a foul on him tbf.
I think we were also better organised at set pieces against Arsenal in the cup. It's a stretch to put that down to just the keeper.

He’s far from perfect but Onana is an idiot and needs dropped.
Couldnt agree more.

His volume of mistakes should not be compounded with more guaranteed starts. Bayindir may go out and make his own errors, but are we truly any worse by dropping Onana? Is he legitimately stopping us from dropping more points? If the answer is no, we have to start taking some action.

Anders Lindegaard managed to bag 18 PL appearances in De Gea’s first two seasons, and without going back and researching it I’d imagine they came after he had a stinker…

Totally agree

It was never a foul in the Spurs game. He was pretty poor against Arsenal too up until the penalty save but he does deserve a bit of credit after that, he made some important saves. His kicking didn't improve, mind.

The Spurs player blocks him from bringing his arms up, definitely a foul.
Poor is maybe a bit harsh for his match before the penalty, but he wasn't having a great game yeah. His kicking was terrible

I wouldnt mind Heaton in goal. Rather that then Onana.

Man Utd 2:1 Rangers New
Did everything he needed to efficiently, no fault for the goal.

He can block the ball, so he is already an upgrade on Onana. Give him some starts in PL.

Feck it, give him a run of games. He's not good enough but at least it's fair. And he seems likeable enough.

Probably his most assured performance for us, might get a chance in Premier League at some stage.
