Hes so long that hes really an imposing target with a pen.

Confidence just grew and grew as the game went on - some massive saves (albeit with Havertz having an absolute nightmare probably helping him at times). Fair play to him.

Fully deserves to keep his place v S’ton.

Play him vs Southampton. Show Onana that he finally has competition.

This isn't meant as a criticism of him, moreso praise of the team/criticism of Arsenal's finishing but penalty and Rice header aside, thought he didn't have to deal with much today.

He did well from corners today which is a big credit though.

Did an outstanding job today, showed great reflexes and saved two well-taken penalties.

Needs to be put on a kicking training regime though, and some of his punches were also sketchy, not just the one he sent straight-up for the equaliser.

Overall great performance and well-deserving of some more starts.

Could’ve done a lot better with the Arsenal goal. Flapped at a few corners first half. Really grew into the game second half. Savingl the penalty boosted his confidence. He really needs to work on his kicking though. Maybe, just maybe, he’s a diamond in the rough.

I wonder if this was a token game for him, a shop window job, or if Amorim is trying to look beyond Onana long term.

I destroyed him in the match thread for his error and he then goes and turns in a display like that.

Fair play to him but I still can't get why he didn't just catch that cross.

I didn't see that coming from Bayindir. The way he flapped at that Arsenal cross in the buildup to their goal. Nothing suggested that he would end up being 'the man' for us today.

However, he became a different player as soon as he saved the penalty that Havertz bought off Andy Madley. Even his catching from crosses suddenly became more assured. That point blank range save from Rice's head too. Just shows how much confidence can affect a footballer's performances.

To go from what we saw against Spurs in the League Cup, and for the first hour today, to how he finished today's FA Cup tie...

...Football. Bloody hell.

Just simply a cup keeper, it doesn’t have to be anything other than that.

That's fair enough, but I hope it's at least given Onana something to think about, as I'm still not convinced about him.

Not that I think Bayinder is anything like good enough as first choice either.

I think he had a great second half and shoot out. Not sure he is good enough to keep his place, his kicking is awful.

Two penalties taken by the post, and a header from seven yards, I feel it’s tantamount to saying ‘apart from scoring a hat trick, I didn’t feel Højlund tested their keeper too much’ ;) Na, just joking.

He was on course for a 4/10 with me for horrendous kicks, bad calls in when to rush out and the clumsy volley ball lay-up for their goal, but you could see he just grew and grew after that Ødegaard penalty, suddenly he was in the right position all the time, smothered several opportunities that Arsenal should have scored where he just made it that little bit more difficult, and three matchwinning saves to take us past one of the best teams in Europe away in an epic drama, for me that means I’ll just forget the first 60 mins completely and celebrate it as a 10/10 performance :)

I’m not worried about Onana’s position though.

I purposely ignored the penalty shoot out and just the 120 minutes. He was of course good but it he wasn't extremely busy, like we have seen DDG in the past.

He was good of course, kicking aside but I felt the defence/Arsenal's poor finishing were huge contributing factors too.

I think it’s worse ignoring the penalty shoot out than ignoring the first 60 mins like I did :) and reminding me of DDG rather underacores that sentiment

Seriously, though, pens and whatnot - he’s played so little and under so unusual circumstances that I feel there is little use evaluating him as a keeper based on those rollercoaster minutes. He was the villain in the league cup and the hero in the FA cup, and analysing more than that is probably pretty useless.

This might sound insulting to some but he reminded me of Pickford. His cocky body language after every save made me almost certain he would win us the penalty shootout. I love seeing us have a keeper celebrate every save/miss from the opposition like it's a goal.

He absolutely wants to be here, which is great to see. Makes me think he could be a good cup keeper/second choice if he's happy to hang around.
Hopefully he can play his part is us winning something

There was that save really low down late on that was very good too

Really happy for him. Some really good saves. In reality he isn't good enough as a first team player as his distribution was pretty shocking and he was quite flappy at crosses. That being said he kept us in the game massively today

He had a bunch of horrible kicking moments and a dodgy punch, interspersed with moments of brilliance - that eventually won us the game. His errors didn't cost us, and his moments of brilliance won it, but I don't think I am comfortable with him.

His kicksouts and punches were......something but jesus the penalty saves and that one from Rice were outstanding.

Fair enough, I don't recall that one. His confidence was clearly very high today though which was a positive after his last performance. You never want a nervous energy from your keeper and he brought a level of calmness in his shot stopping and dealing with crosses, generally I thought.

I really like how he spoke post match. Very mature and sounds like he wants to be here and compete.

Fabulous penalty saves. Nearly saved that one with his legs!! Seems a lovely humble guy as well.

His goal kicks though, wow.

I really like his character, great speaker and oozes respect for the fans and confidece. Deserves a chance to be our number 1, really don't fancy Onana at all.

That shootout save was unreal.

I assumed that his abysmal kicking was due to nerves.

Why the fk can't he kick. Must have kicked it straight out at least 6 times. Good otherwise.

Old school

Nice thing about old problems is that old solutions already exist! Time to bring back defenders taking goal kicks while the keeper watches on. Not taking about passing it to the defender, no, the defender launches the dead ball.

I nominate Martinez.

He keeps making that bitter face as if he eats a paracetamol without water every time he's about to make a save. Why is that?
Well done son I'm not blocking you on instagram.

Not gonna say that I told you he'd do alright. But I did :). Let's hope he kicks on from here.

His kicking and punching is weird and he doesn’t seem to make the box his own. But what a comeback from him during that game - after the 1st goal he really player the role of our saviour. Well done, what a moment for him.

That penalty save calmed his nerve i think, then went on to grow blocking rice few times kept the momentum until the penalty shoot out. Amazing what confidence can do to you. Fix the kicking and we have ourself a Romero, gentleman.
