@Edgar Allan Pillow

Mitchell Johnson actually had a really up and down career for a long time, there is one fast bowler left imo who has a better record than him

Could the 12th round be without the minimum matches criteria?

Make it something like that player must have played less than 50 matches or something or must have played for an associate country.

I think associate countries will anyways come to the forte. The ODI pool is incredibly shallow. I don't see how we can keep it going for 6 more rounds.

Agree. Would make the last round a lot tastier and more interesting.

I told you there should have been a criteria to pick a player from Zimbabwe /Bangladesh, Andy flower would have been first pick then

The reason why Shakib isn't really rated that highly is because his batting and bowling average is greatly helped by the fact that he's played 1/3 of his matches against associate teams.

Here is his record against test playing nations.

and here's Watson record against test playing nations.

except that includes Watson's stats against Bangladesh who themselves are minnows in cricket. If you remove that, Watson averages 36 against decent Test playing nations in bowling and 37 batting which is decent at best. Hitting 185* against a hapless Bangladesh team is kind of the same as shakib hitting 134* against Zim. In fact the gulf between Zim and Ban is less than the gulf between Ban and Aus.

Not to mention Shakib averages 33 as a bowler purely against test playing nations. One look at stats for the same for Kumble against the test playing nations is 33 as well with economy the same as well. And Shakib is way better than Kumble batting wise as he has a batting average of 31 against the nations. So if kumble is in a tier below the top tier (as per the comments a few pages back) then surely shakib is around the same too?

12th round having players less than 50 games defeats the purpose. There will still be players around though not great ones and one can always go for associate nations as well. Some greats of game who played just 60-70 ODI games are going to create conflict as it is in judging them against even relatively new players.

In the sheep draft we had open criteria for one of the rounds where basically any test cricketer could be selected. There were even a couple of guys selected with less than 10 tests. This is no different. It didn't defeat the purpose then, it won't now either.

And those players were replaced at some point because some such as myself were uncomfortable with the idea of legends like them not having represented internationally. It's upto @Skills to decide. Anything seems fine.
