@VP - all yours, pal.

The original question asked was that why shouldn't Shakib be considered as equal to Watson which I replied. Anybody who has watched them play will realise who's the better player between the two.

Also what's the criteria for decent test playing nations. Even if remove Bangladesh, Watson's bowling average is 33.5 which is not much different from Shakib who's considered a lead bowler for Bangladesh. Shakib's stats are further increased by the fact that he plays on the slow Bangladesh wickets which help Spinners more than usual. Take his record away from home against test playing nations and you get a record of a mediocre player. 21 batting average and 36 bowling average.

kumble and vettori under the same queries gives you more or less the same bowling average too (kumble's worse actually). Most spinners thrive at home. And in spin assisted pitches, he is a good threat just like kumble and vettori would be.

edit - the point in all this is just that shakib is actually a good option with the ball and a handy option with the bat. We probably wont need him to bat all that much anyway (just tailend support stuff with dhoni playing at 7 or so) and he can get some cheap overs at about 4 or 5 an over with a couple of wickets. anyway chill. not looking for fights and all. :p

He's a tier below Kumble and Vettori.

How did the Football Drafts ever get sorted ? There are hardly any stats until the last 15 years or so and even then the stats are pretty inconclusive and highly subjective. Was it all based on youtube videos and Peer talk and Journo's articles ?

Shock as people uses stats to determine who's the better player

The problem is that the people who are voting won't be using statsguru to compare the players, most of the voting is based on what people have seen on the cricket pitch and what they rightly or wrongly believe in their own mind. Saeed Ajmal can have a better record in some aspects than Saqlain but that won't matter when it comes to voting.

Best fielder after Azar on those day and along with one of those unpicked player we had decent LMO.Their running between wkts was good. Not the best batsmen but at this stage yes he's good pick.

Who does the voting? Anyone that browses the thread?

Sarwan iis not a good pick IMO, but that's just me. I usse the eye test more than stats

This is why we picked our Indians early. 16x2 players is a bit tough on that pool.

Infact we are regretting not picked one much earlier.

Only one can vote and these days manager or As.Manager never vote.

Calling it a night lads. Who should I send my pick to?

"You gave me this house, this business, everything, but what have you really done in life, grandpa?"
[90 year old Skills opens the draft final thread]"see that name there kid? That's your old man"
"I love you grandpa"

We've had a few fiascos because of this and the accepted norm at the moment is - you post a name, you stick with it. Of course skills is the gaffer here.
If @Skills and most of you guys are ok with it, before @VP selects his guy, then I'd like to change. But if most of you / Skills don't want it, that's fine too.

I think I know who you guys want to replace your pick with. I'm hundred percent sure actually.

If you change then you've named an unpicked player which means you'll be assigned a sheep.

G'warn then, quick.

One off exception though. No changing picks from now, no fecking up by picking more than 2 of the same nationality too please.

Sorry to be pain - but we'll stick with Sarwan in the interest of fairness (sorry!).

Yep - I know I've caused a hullabaloo over nothing so apologies to all.
