Thoughts?

Also MJJ, I wouldn't be so cocky about your team against me.

Very few people will be able to get pasta back 3/4 of Maldini, Stam, Jane and Deschamps.

Peters and Giles are two of the most complete midfielders of all time.

Gento was one of the greatest players of all time, Augusto and him are both excellent on the ball as well as amazingly quick, and Law and Ronaldo interchanging as 9 and 10 is I think the best 2 man attack in the series.

Maybe, we will see. I still think I could win if its against you. M

I am hoping I play jake tbf. I prioritized getting him over a RB as can see monti going but doubt any one would pick a rb as their 12/13th pick.

Cocky... not sure it's as easy as you make it sound.

Edit: Ouch! Just seen Jake's defensive setup.

That's what he means, just say Matthaus, Brehme, Breitner or God forbid, Beckenbauer become available, how are you going to draft them? If you had Maier in goal and another keeper of another nationality on the bench, you could take Maier off for your sub keeper to free up the German spot and bring in one of those legends.

I know what you mean though, never mind worrying about future subs, just try and win your first round! Like I pointed out earlier though, Goal keeper make little of any impact on these drafts usually.

Probably ultimately makes little difference but it was wreckin my head pickin between the 2 so put my mind at ease having both.

No other keeper appealed other than an Argie, but the hope i guess is that my Argie pick would be Di Stefano or Messi after the first round, in which case he'd be redundant :)

Will draft in another defender, either a leftback or a centerback

MJJ... :

.......CB.....CB
......Chumpitaz

or:

........Chumpitaz
.........CB......CB

is what I meant - anything where he is not part of a flat back four as a CB, basically. As I said before, Chumpitaz is one of the very best defenders there is in the draft for dealing with short, low centred, tricky, darty (etc, etc) forwards, so you want to use him in a system where his ability along the ground is best utilized.

You've obviously got to cater to the rest of the side too... you have to have balance and as few obvious weaknesses in the system you chose as possible as well.

You're going to have to figure something out that's logically sound at the very least as what you've put up isn't gonna cut it as others have already said.

Think you'd better use your last few picks very wisely and round your team out, personally.

Thanks for the advice, am pming you to clarify something.

I will go for Big Nev, Neville Southall! Great keeper from a smaller nation which suits my team well.

Really strong at the back and defensive midfield. Not sure about Nedved on the right? Thought he was a left sided player.

Messi speaks for himself.

Not a chance IMO. It isn't the numbers, it's the players and we have fluid workhorses throughout the team. Our two forwards aren't even strikers but are both comfortable in an attacking midfield role, then you have Boniek who runs all day and the best defensive fullback of all time.

It's a very lazy criticism, "oh 3 is bigger than 2". Means feck all unless you actually analyse the players.

I like it NM. Pele and Ruminiegge is incredible.and I really wanted Neeskens. Like two players in one.

Anatoliy Demyanenko

demyanenko_04.jpg

Captain and leader of Dynamo Kiev who dominated left flanks across Europe during the 1980s. Integral to the great Kiev team of the 1980s that was one of Europe's top sides, winning the Cup Winners Cup in '86 and reaching the European Cup Semi in '87 (making light work of a strong Rangers side on the way). Third greatest Ukranian player of all time with 3 national Player of the Year awards (one is rare enough for a full back).

Yeah I will switch Nedved to the left. Got it wrong,

The major problem I can see is that its a two man midfield while most of the teams in the draft have gone with three. Although it might work but think it will cost you guys votes.

Well the reason we are ok with 2 is that all our midfielders cover so much ground. Alsom as thisistheone says, Neeskens is really 2 players.

That's what I'm hoping for tbh. I have two genuine box to box midfielders and a winger who will run all day. Plus I have the Carvalho-Cole connection with Chelsea, and Carvalho and Thuram covering for Passarella when he goes forward..
