All Rossi transfer speculation here please

The agent of Giuseppe Rossi admits a move from Villarreal is still on.

Federico Pastorello says, however, Villarreal are yet to give the green light for the Italian striker's sale.

"The Spanish club has not given official approval to a possible sale," Pastorello told calciomercato.com. "But the boy wants to have a new experience after two years in Spain.

"Surely, if Giuseppe is to leave it will be to join a major team, where he can showcase all of his quality . We hope that negotiations will be resolved as soon as possible."

Villarreal striker Giuseppe Rossi has ruled out the possibility of a return to Manchester United despite a clause in his contract offering the Premier League giants first refusal on the 23-year-old.

The diminutive Italian international was signed by Sir Alex Ferguson as a 17-year-old in 2005, a move the striker concedes “didn't work out”, and although he has been linked with an unlikely return to Old Trafford, the former Parma youth product admits he has no desire to return to Manchester United.

Rossi has been attracting interest from Serie A giants Juventus and Inter Milan but admits to being happy with the Yellow Submarines.

The former Manchester United striker told FourFourTwo.com: "There's no chance of me rejoining Manchester United.

"I've nothing to prove to anyone back there and I'm very happy at Villarreal.

"I enjoyed my time there but it didn't
work out and, like I said, I'm enjoying myself in Spain and I'm playing for my country."
The pint-sized striker was named in Marcelo Lippi’s provisional 28-man World Cup squad, but was one of the unlucky five left out. Rossi has three goals in 15 games for the Azzurri.

He's not good enough, with Rooney and Chicharito there's no chance for another player with similar characteristics

In the last season his performances have been appalling

Shame. And none of Villarreal's players were good last season even though they do have a bunch of good talents like Senna, Cazorla and Rossi. Its why only 1 Villarreal player made the world cup squad for Spain.

Suprised with all the goings on that this thread hasn't been bumped sooner. Naughty muppets :)

See he has 4 in 7 for Villareal this season in the Primera which is a good return. Anyone seen any of his matches and care to state how he's been doing.

May be a good time to invoke that buy back clause

Does this clause even exist?

I am sure Custis in The Sun will find this thread on here and print a story tomorrow to get the muppet erections going. Could be a good signing and we apparently have the first option I think! Does not have the fight of a Rooney or a Tevez but could more than do a job!

The fact that Shrek is off brings a whole new perspective to it for him. That kid Afellay and Rossi I would imagine will become the names that will constantly be linked us with in the tabloids to replace Shrek with Afellay being on a free and all. Would be amazing to see Cleverly step to the role next year. Anyone seen any of Afellay by the way and could say if he is any use?

The clause does exist but if you read up, Rossi said he doesnt want to come back, or something along those lines, in the summer. He's a gonner.

Spurs consider Rossi bid after Bent windfall
Tottenham look at £16.5m former United striker as Sunderland target Crouch

Tottenham Hotspur are weighing up the possibility of a move for the former Manchester United striker Giuseppe Rossi, having finally been paid the full £16.5m they were owed from Sunderland for Darren Bent. Rossi, 23, now established as one of the best strikers in the Spanish league at Villarreal, is on Spurs' list of possible new players after they turned down the opportunity to sign Ajax's Luis Suarez, now a target for Liverpool. Rossi's contract expires in the summer of next year and he has attracted much interest in Spain and Italy this season.

The transfer of Bent to Aston Villa has caused movement throughout the transfer market, with Sunderland now making serious inquiries about Peter Crouch at Spurs. While Tottenham's manager, Harry Redknapp, does not want to sell the England international, that still very much depends this month on what kind of offer Sunderland would be prepared to make. At a fee of £15m-£20m, Rossi would be among Spurs' most expensive acquisitions, but he would fit their model of buying good, young players at competitive prices and has been scouted for some time. He has formed one of the best forward partnerships in Spain with the Brazil international Nilmar and has scored nine goals already this season.

Born in the US, Rossi is now one of Italy's first-choice strikers after being left out of last summer's World Cup final squad by Marcello Lippi. He was highly rated by Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United, who signed him as a teenager from Parma, but was permitted to leave in August 2007. There have been suggestions that Ferguson has an option to re-sign him.

Don't United still have first option on him, we should stick our beak in (in the words on John Sacramoni) if Spurs are interested.

Spurs will hardly sign him with 4 strikers on the books at the moment and Harry only ever seems to play one of them with van der vart. Keane looks like he wants to sit on his 70k a week contact for the next few years and doesnt look like going anywhere. Harry will hadlly sign another striker unless one or two leave

He'd probably buy one anyway.

Former Manchester United striker signs new deal in Spain
Giuseppe Rossi has ended the speculation around his future by signing a new contract with Villarreal until 2016.

The 23-year-old had recently been linked with a return to the Premier League with Tottenham during the transfer window.

Rossi joined Villarreal in 2007 from Manchester United and is now the club's all-time top-scorer in La Liga with 44 goals.

He was in goalscoring form again on Sunday as he bagged a brace against Real Sociedad to take his season's tally to 11.

The Italy international's goals have taken Villarreal up to third in the Primera Liga behind Real Madrid and leaders Barcelona, who they trail by 13 points.
That ends that for now. Lock needed.

I wouldnt say a lot more. Also, I think Defoe has a very good eye for a pass that doesnt get enough praise. I think finshing wise, they're about the same, but Rossi has a better first touch.

No one's going to pay £30m for Rossi.

Then again, it's Spurs we're talking about.

£30m for Giuseppe Rossi?

The market's gone mental. He's a good player but that's pretty steep.

I would - Defoe's a very, very limited player apart from shooting on sight. Rossi's an intelligent all-round forward who can also get goals.

Rossi has much better technique then Defoe whos a very good striker on his day...His plays much more intelligent and he's more creative then defoe

Villla Real have accepted £30m from tottenham for ROssi? So this is real?

I thought you really didn't want him to go but he wanted out. He was clearly a great prospect.

I think if he had an extra couple yards of pace we would've never loaned him out as much and he would've broken into our side and gotten more games with us. Hence, leading him to staying.

We really didn't want him to go but he didn't (rightfully) want to go out on loan again and wanted playing time. With his attributes, coupled with that bit of pace, he could've cemented time at OT before it ever came to giving transfer ultimatums IMO.

Glad to see he has developed however.
