I am actually not panicing anymore. A couple of days after the CL Final I was feeling very anxious but now that has been replaced by a feeling of serene - I cant think of a better word that this to sum up my feelings - indifference.

If he stays he stays - great.
If he goes we will we weaker for it, but I would rather that than have him against his will. And while being weaker, we wont be weak. We'll move on.

You can not honestly believe that.

Well I could believe it actually. I could believe of it of nearly every football player with the exception of those who have come from the same area, grown up with the club, come through the ranks to win it all. 3 names again spring to mind. Like I said, generally there is no loyalty. It's all about money and personal glory.

Regardless of what's gone on between him and Fergie though, it doesn't justify a need to spout off to some Brazilian website.

Unless it turns out he didn't, obviously

It does seem odd, eh? Spends ages giving it the "I'm not saying anything for now", and then choses some Brazillian Website to declare his intentions? What, like did he think nobody outside Brazil would hear about it? Or is it yet another famous mis-translation of his oft-stated "I want to play for Madrid one day"?

I can see there being a fight over who gets post number 4000!

Ronaldo was also considered the best player by many in 06/07, when they gave it to Kaka because of his CL run, at only 22. You're now running out of excuses in attempts to belittle Ronaldo's achievements and contribution to United.

Kaka didnt do that bad in the serie a that year. Kaka had also been performing at the top for atleast 3 years now. he is also became AC Milan top scoring midfielder in the champions league at the still tender age of 24. coming from a team that has won it 7 times, that is says a lot... His cl run was nothing short of magnificent, he basically was a man on a mission. he underperformed in the final, but other than that he played great in the games that mattered. Ronaldo didnt have as much luck as him and the milan defence outclassed him on both legs with rooney saving us from another embarrasing mlian defeat at home.

Yes, football business may be ugly and dirty cos of the money involved. But what is immoral on the part of Ronaldo is, his revealing of intention to join Real gives Real the bargaining chip: sell him to us at such and such price, or else you have an unhappy player. His publicly announcing his love for a move (instead of telling his employer in private first) makes it harder for us to sell him at as high as we want!

If those quotes are true. It doesn't change anything. Whatever tid-bits get fed to the press are nothing compared to the discussion behind the scenes involving his agent and the two clubs. If true, that story won't have come as any surprise to United or to Real Madrid. Makes no odds to United whether he declares his intention to leave in public or in private.

The only "immoral" thing he has (allegedly) done is to decide he's wanted a new challenge, at a new club. Which doesn't exactly make him Harold Shipman.

As I said before, there's no loyalty. Football is not a moral business. But despite that, he did actually allegedly suggest that only if Madrid would meet Utd's asking price would he consider going, or something similar. This is him trying to answer your accusation and play the diplomacy game. As far as I am concerned, it's being as devious and calculating as a politician in trying to get what he wants.

Sorry, but I don't buy that. But if you think that, thats fine.

This threads missing something....

panic.gif

Its childish at this stage to try to be funny about the whole affair! Its not about panicking about his move any more. It's crystal clear that he wants to move, and we don't want to sell. There is no need to try to take the matter lightly like you did there!

i think thats harsh on ronaldo....this season ronaldo has been just as good as kaka was in the cl last season, against barcelona he didnt play badly neither was he outplayed...whenever he got the ball yaya toure zambrotta and puyol or deco were all around him...he was effective with the ball i think people gave messi too many plaudits...agreed he was excellent in both games but i think admittedly theyre werent exactly uniteds most attacking performances were they....
also ronaldo is more of a complete player than kaka...he can head the ball has more power in his shot and accurate most of the time..

Perhaps it's a little harsh in retrospect. Funnily enough I find myself thinking of Rio Ferdinand as someone who breaks the mould. And I struggle with that thought to be honest, but it may be a good example. He looks like he gives a shit about United these days - he didn't before mind. But I think he has grown to love the club. But he's English and I think that counts for a lot. Just as I think that Ronaldo being Portuguese also counts for a lot in his desire to want to go back to the Iberian peninsula and play for the team his Mum apparently has supported all her life.

According to Marca, Ronaldo & Real have reached an agreement.

Isn't this tapping-up.

So this whole confusion started when he said he'll make a decision when he actually meant to say the United (the club) has to decide ...

Ronaldo didn't say he'd make a decision - he said he hoped to be able to give some news in 2-3 days - only the journalistic rewrite presented it as him 'making a decision' then.

Lou Macari hit the nail on the head. All that is needed is a concrete denial on his part and then all the speculation dies. He talks about not wanting to comment for fear of disrupting Portugal's preparations, but he silence is creating a right hoo haa. All the football world seems to be talking about is Ronaldo-to-Madrid.

Ronaldo is such an arrogant little shit that his silence has single handedly overshadowed a double triumph and his own country's Euro 2008 preparations. I have no respect left for the boy.

I never said Loyalty has anything to do with anything as far as he is concerned... Leaving Moral alone, if we are only talking about business, he had done a huge disfavour to our club by giving away the biggest bargaining chip to Real. I as a supporter of the club have every right to criticize him for being such a bloody bastard doing everything just for his own sake. You can't use the excuse for him as stated to justify his behaviour.

Business wise, we want as much money as possible. Now that he'd made it public of his intention, it's bad business for us.

when do i ever mention ronaldo's last season (2007/2008).

Im talking about ronaldo in 2006/2007. and yes nesta outclassed him. and kaka came here and played backyard futebol with our makeshift defence. in 2006/2007 kaka was clearly the best player in the world.

yeah this last season ronnie has clearly been the best player in the world.

Sounds motive. Son las 10.00 horas en Neuchatel. These are the 10.00 hours in Neuchatel. The question of the interlocutor Predictably: "Do you speak today Christian?".The call comes from Spain. That's because in Madrid had emerged along the morning the rumour that Cristiano Ronaldo was scheduled to appear before the media to confirm the front page of Marca.

The call is the first of the day. We will continue with three more and all the same objective: to know if Christian will front of the cameras and microphones to dispel the mystery of what look shirt next season. The tension was palpable every day in the concentration of all Portuguese.

And that is only because the lack footballer confirm that their wish is to play at Real Madrid. According to some sources, Cristiano Ronaldo and all white and would have reached an agreement of intent. The truth is that the subject is closed and Christian and gave his word to Madrid. The player charged 9.5 million euros net per season and signed until 2013.

But for him, it's about his business, not United's. And why would you expect it to be any different?

Then you're just another drama queen. One of many.

He's entitled to take as long as he wants to make his mind up. This is the biggest decision in his career so far. In the weeks running up to a major international tournement. Why should he rush to a decision, just so you can sleep easier at night>

Sky sports news selling the quotes from Ronaldos mum yesterday as if it is breaking news... unbelievable.

Im sure they use sites like this for their info or something. Its kind of like when all the Terry photoshops appeared in newspapers!!

Guardian headline..
Calderon 'honoured' by Ronaldo transfer request

Madrid are sneaky bastards, aren't they? I'm absolutely flabbergasted at the way they've gone about this and [evidently] gotten their man. Incredibly cunning.

And you seem to revel in the role of santimonious top-fan. I'm sorry if I get emotional about something I love. I am not as capable of detaching myself from it and take a "we'll wait and see" attitude, as you clearly are.

He can take all the time he likes. That is his prerogative. Just as it is mine to call him a knob.

He is disrupting his own preparations and his countrys by maintaining this ridiculous stance.

If this is true, we have a big case of reporting Real. Looking at the whole scenario, and put all pieces together, you will note that there is a big conspiracy there. Real wants him, he wants to go, United doesn't want to sell, Ronaldo made public he wants to move, leaving United in a difficult situation to ask for more money!

It might be dirty football business some people think it is acceptable, but this has to be one of the dirtiest and it's sad it happened to us.

FIFA would take absolutely no action against the vile Franco cnuts.

if he really wants to go can't we sell him to Barca just to screw over real even if it means getting less money and they have got messi, eto'o to barter with real have really only got casillas possibley ramos who i could see getting in our side whoever he goes to we should take their best player just so they are weakened as much as we are. As great as ronny is i'm quite sure Nani and a world class striker can fill the void. it just pisses me off that each time we groom a player to be geniunely world class real click their fingers and we get screwed if there's possibley a way fecking them over in this we should do it and flogging him to Barca for £50 million and make the rest up with players rather than reals £100 million is the best way of doing it there not even any guarantee he'll be a success in Spain and we all know how well him and Ruud get on.

Whats their to make? Stick with the Champions of Europe while your young or go to a over-rated team? Decision is pretty clear cut to me.

"Top-fan"? How does that work exactly?

I try to use a bit of logic and objectivity in assessing the situation, as opposed to running around with my hands in the air. I also try and empathise with the main protagonists involved, so I can get a better handle on the likely outcome.

This doesn't make me any more, or any less, of a fan than anyone else in this thread.

It will, however, prevent me from saying stuff that I might regret, at a later date.

Sell. Get big money. Buy in another two quality players. We would barely miss him.
