ALL Ronaldo's future/comments/speculation

It was just an observation guys. I think this current stand off with Ronaldo indicates why it is important to have a core of players who can really associate themselves with the club.

I know Ronaldo says it, but I sometimes wonder whether he realises just what a great club he is at. As for his, "Manchester is not a great city" comments, all I would say here is that he is wide of the mark. Sure, the climate may not be to his liking but the city itself is vibrant and fantastic.

He will have another 10 years at the top. Professionally he should want to play for the best team in the best league in Europe. Surely going to a currently weak La Liga represents a regression on his part? He can live in the sun for the rest of his fecking life after he retires!

Feed me... Give it a rest!! Your not going to win nothing suching for all British talents!! To be honest where never going to produce anyone with the talents of Ronaldo! (The system sucks... Joe Cole says it all). If we lose him then we lose him, i don't care how it comes about... Barcelona have been losing their great players for years, so Juventus etc. Us being United doesn't make it any different!

I don't believe his going anywhere to be honest!!

Finest player in the world? No but he is the most wanted the reason he is the most wanted is his interviews, everyone thinks he's available

If he has a shit season next season you'll get nowhere near 45 million for him, whereas if there was 45 million pounds on the table for him now you would be wise to consider it. I say 45 million that could of course go up if there is a bidding war. Aty the end of the day Ronaldo will leave when he wants to.

As for getting back to my shitty WH forums, if you don't like my posts add me to your ignore list.

45 mil is a decent amount. But Ronaldo is not just valuable on the feild but off the field too.Why would United consider selling him for 45 mil?

Football's an emotional subject but it always makes me smile when I read fans look at Saha, Fletcher, Giggs, Ron or whoever has disappointed us (on or off the pitch) that month and demand that SAF gets rid (aka sold to the highest bidder) - and then talk about "loyalty" when it comes to a player's commercial relationship with the club.

Ron, as many people on here have already noted, will be out in an instant if SAF gets fed up with him, or if the Glazers want the cash, or if a cash + player deal comes along that's too mouthwatering to be ignored (unimagineable to me - but imagined by quite a few people in a Messi Vs Ronaldo thread on here this month). And everyone will agree United > Any Player, shrug and move on, and a good percentage won't even say thanks and goodbye.

United were here before Ron, we'll be here afterwards. Ron knows that - Heinze, Fortune and others were friends of his - he's seen RvN, Keane and others moved on. He knows he's wanted, but he also knows he's a commodity and though I think he's got his tactics wrong, I'm not surprised he wants to know how much that's worth.

If he's lucky - Ronaldo's got ten years at the top. My guess is that a move right now would be bad or him, bad for United, and oddly enough bad for Madrid (they aren't one player way from greatness). United and Madrid would get over it, but Ron might have wasted prime playing years - and a lot of affection. But I don't think it'll happen - I think he likes playing for us and wants to win more with this team.

it was quite funnying reading when he was asked would like like to play with Ramos and various other madrid players....

Scholes, Giggs, Nani, Tevez, Anderson, Carrick, Rooney, Ferdinand, Evra, Vidic, Brown, Neville etc etc

It must be hell for him :)

To be honest the lad is getting on my tits. I should feel adoration towards him after such a season, but his egotism and constant flirtation with the Spanish press is disrespectful to the fans who pay his exorbitant wages and who supported him when the rest of the country was baying for his blood.

We would miss him if he left, but with the sort of money being talked about we could get in two world class players and not really feel the pinch that much.

If Ronaldo does go to Madrid, he will end up regretting it and his career will stagnate. If it happens then I will have a wry little smile on my face. The bloke conducts himself with absolutely no dignity whatsoever in these press comments and it is not behaviour fitting of this club. His constant stream of contradictory and loaded comments suit the club he is angling to move to down to the ground.

I for one won't be celebrating in "2-3 weeks time" when there is "news" if he has signed a new contract. What is to celebrate? Being fecked up the arse for another £20000 a week by a little tosser who genuinely believes his own hype and thinks he is a bigger figure than the entire club. He is nothing on Wayne Rooney in this respect.

This post is just ridiculous.

Ronaldo has been at our club for 6 years now and has achieved and helped us achieve a lot.He will be here for 2 years at least. We have to respect him when he is here. Its not as if he is threatning to score an own goal or sulking during matches so that we sell him to Madrid.

Ronaldo is from Portugal and in such countries or other south American countries,Real Madrid and La Liga is where it is at.I am sure most of the Latin and South American young players dream of playing for Madrid than Manchester United. Its natural because La liga is more famous there because of the style of play and all.Its just recently that United and PL are ctahing fans attention there. So Ronaldo wanting to play for Madrid or in LALiga is something that has been naturally embedded into him.Well you can that the love and support United fans have given him should make him reconsider his dream but thats not a quality you find in football players today often.

So until he is here we are the one who will reap rewards too.So when he leaves I will always remember and respect him for his United career. But once he pulls that Real Madrid shirt I will have no choice but to not respect him as a Madrid player.

Real surprised by Ferguson crticism over Ronaldo

May 25 (Reuters) - Real Madrid have defended themselves against accusations from Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson that they were using underhand tactics to pressure Portuguese forward Cristiano Ronaldo into joining them.

“I am really surprised to hear what he said about us. I don’t understand Ferguson,” Real president Ramon Calderon told sports daily Marca on Sunday.

“Real Madrid have conducted themselves exquisitely is this whole affair with Cristiano Ronaldo. We have always said that he is a player who has a contract and that Manchester United is not a selling club. That’s everything.”

Ferguson attacked the Spanish champions on Friday criticising their methods in trying to lure the 23-year-old to Spain by using the local media as their mouthpiece.

“Do you not think we’ve not had interest from big clubs around Europe about our best players? Of course, we have. But they don’t get into the nonsense (Real) get into,” Ferguson said.

“They think they can ride rough-shod over everyone, but they won’t do it with us.”

Ronaldo has added to the speculation with some ambiguous statements after Wednesday’s Champions League final victory.

The Madrid-based sports newspapers have had the player on their front pages the last few days.

On Sunday, Marca reported that given the chance, Real would open their bidding with an offer of 80 million euros ($126.2 million), for a five-year contract that would net the player 9.5 million euros per season.

Brazil forward Robinho could move in the other direction as a make-weight in the deal.

Ronaldo, who has just joined up with the Portugal squad to start preparations for next month’s Euro 2008, has said he will make a decision on his future in the next two weeks. (Writing by Mark Elkington; Editing by John O’Brien)

feck off Calderon if you think your whole despicable actions in your pursuit of Ronaldo is right, you are a bloody retard.

Marca: Man Utd’s Ronaldo could pocket €9.5 million per year at Real[/url]

And by the time they've resolve a new image rights deal with him at United he can make more by playing for us. He won't be moving over money.

Rio got abused by the fans didn't he?

.

Because he missed adrugs test. . .and was subsequently banned for 8 months. Instead of showing humility he tried to get a better contract. Apparently he was seen with Kenyon in a restaurant and all. A huge difference. Thankfully, he's been immense since, and even I can forgive his cuntishness.

I always wonder how many football journalists keep their job. They know feck all about football, and are more interested in this random transfer nonsense than what actually goes on on the pitch.

But I'm beginning to understand that its because there are enough idiots in the world to bite into the bollocks they write. They will sell more papers writing this nonsense than they do by actually writing about football.

A sad state of affairs.

this really isn't a time for preaching. Their are two variables

* is ronaldos desire to play in spain oneday
* is negotiating contact
* is Madrids tactics

:) I meant three. I would worry more if everyone said let's sell him now. We all appriciate his qualitites and one summer there will be no will he won't he - he'll be gone

So people naturally worry, it is understandable. I hope we can ban the shite from the spanish end and say ok we'll listen to the club/sir alex and Ronaldo himself and there is no news until 2...3 weeks when he'll confirm he's signed an extention.

It's becoming impossible to pick up a newspaper or turn on Sky Sports News without hearing about fecking Real Madrid trying to sign Ronaldo. Why can't he just come out and say "feck you Madrid, feck you Calderon, feck you Marca - you can stick your 150k a week up your arses!"

I don't want him to do an Henry - pretending he's loyal to the club and then fecking off towards the end the of the summer. He needs to come out and state his intentions.

I can respect a person's wish to ply their trade in a country that is close to their heritage. But there is a way to do it. Why does he need to constantly flirt with the media?

He is a world class player. He will have a host of admirers. When he wants to go, why doesn't he just say so then and he would the club with everyone's good will - as you say, he will have contributed a heck of a lot by the time that day comes. It is really annoying to constantly be hearing these Ronaldo stories because it has the effect of elevating him to a position above the club.

If he leaves for Madrid having been angling for a move and with the associated rubbish that Madrid have been doing, then he will have none of my respect. If he eventually leaves having given his all and without all the hystrionics and ridiculous flirtations with the media then he will have my respect.

Exactly, it's not hard to dispel a rumour. Then people respond that he is angling for a better contract. Are we supposed to empathise with an individual who wants a bigger deal having already been given a substantial pay rise just this past year.

Ronaldo would 'love' United stay

Manchester United winger Cristiano Ronaldo has reiterated he is happy at Old Trafford and "would love to continue" with the European champions.

The Portugal star has been persistently linked with Real Madrid by the Spanish media and has not helped quell the speculation by announcing he would make a decision on his future shortly.

In an interview with Portuguese newspaper Publico, the 23-year-old confirmed he would like to play in Spain one day but that he is currently satisfied with life in England.

"There is nothing certain at the moment," Ronaldo said. "The press always make stories about interest from other teams, not only from Madrid, also from Barcelona.

"On one hand it's good and means that they know your value as a player and think you can be a good reinforcement for other teams.

"But my head is in Manchester because it is the club that, at the moment, puts me in the best condition and that I'm happy at.

"Now, as I have said many times, only God knows the future.

"I have never hid from anyone that I would like to play in Spain one day. It's a dream, but sometimes dreams don't happen.

"I can guarantee that I am happy at Manchester United and that I would love to continue."

Feel indifferent about him. If he goes, he goes. Great player, but not my favorite and I know I'd hate him if he wasn't a United player.

It just makes you wonder if he was thinking of leaving in two years time or maybe 4 if in a few weeks he signs an extension. There is also the chance if we replace Sir Alex with the correct person and we're successful he might stay

Also it's noticeable that the interview sounds fair, theres no talk of sunshine and all that other bollocks in other press.

So all is well :) until tomorrow..lol

Just to add something about Ronaldo. We read contrasting things about him. When he's got his united hat on it's about the team but sometimes he talked about individual awards being important etc

And I think this madrid talk, barca whoever - is just him. He has an ego and is flirting but you know. I think I trust him, because it's typical of his character.

The reality is he's not leaving but why is that? He wants to play in spain, he could play in spain but I think saying he wants to stay is not very 'him' because he wants to be in the media, he wants people talking about him

We suffer and people have said, what if he cannot reproduce...but what if he can...or if he can do better, as I'd expect....it'd be worth it to have more nights like the one we had

If he's staying i'm happy. We'll keep the best player in the world. Just don't like the way he's been teasing the spanish press. You'd think he's actually enjoying all this talk.

:D

No different to when Tevez says he'd like to play in La Liga, except Tevez gets called a future legend etc.

Too much talking imo. You get the feeling he has a huge ego and thinks a bit too much about himself, but no one is bigger than the club. Maybe that's not the case, I always thought he's a down to earth type, but thats the impression I got in the last 2-3 weeks.
I'm getting tired of this and if he thinks the grass is greener in Madrid, so it be, we will cope with it and Fergie will find new players. So next time he speak to the media, he should make it clear that Real should feck off, or say he wants to play for them or just shut it

That's quite a pro United Interview, with a portugese press who probably don't give a feck if he goes to spain. It wouldn't improve him as a player

He is unlikeable but I think it's the ego that makes him the player he is. When you look at Ronaldhinio, all the talent in the world but his character is ..i'm not the best player in the world and other players in other positions do things I can't etc....

where as Ronaldos is I'm the best because I know it. I think what's also not lost on him is you have to always keep moving, working hard something to his credit he does

That's what makes him so special. The fact unlike the Ronaldhinios of this world, football is everything

And I think subsequently his ego - though we hate it, is a big reason why he doesn't slack off. So in a sence it's important.

Yes alot of it is annoying, but ultimately we should not forget that inspite of all the non sense, Ronaldo isn't the kind of person to cause the problems Real want him to, to leave the club

Maybe oneday he will want to leave, but he won't now say I want to leave and all that 'i'm a slave..help meeee.'..

The boy is a genius. He will be the star of the euros. He will be european player or the world player of the year. It's something to be proud of. It will be a sad day, if he goes but look...hate him or love him, there is no denying when you think of the players we've missed out on..

The likes of Ronaldhinio, Zidane etc. This boy could top them. Remember portugal got to the euro finals last time. He was great in the last world cup. We don't have to like him, but I for one will forgive his ego ...because he will stay and he will reproduce because he works hard and doesn't use the weather as an excuse to not play well

I can't find the Portuguese interview (from Publico) online but AS (a Real rag like Marca, but not usually quite so giddy) have the interview in Spanish and it's an unusually interesting read for anyone who can understand it - though beware, it is of course a translation!
http://www.as.com/futbol/articulo/futbol-ahora-futuro-solo-le/dasftb/20080526dasdaiftb_32/Tes

It'll take me too long to translate the lot (and it would be a translation of a translation, so not that accurate anyway) but here are some of the interesting bits.

There's a lot of speculation about you leaving Manchester to go to Spain. Is there some truth in this?

Nothing. The Press always writes about the interest of some teams - not only of Madrid, but also Barcelona. On one side it's nice to be known and that they value you as a footballer and consider you a good reinforcement for other teams. But my head is in Manchester. Because, at the moment, it's the club that gives me the best environment, and where I'm doing well. But as I said several times, the future belongs only to God. I've never hidden that someday I would like to play in Spain. It's a dream, but sometimes dreams do not become reality. I can assure you that I am happy at Manchester and I want to continue.

How's working with Alex Ferguson?

It's spectacular. He's a very experienced coach and has helped me a lot. But I've also had the support of Carlos Queiroz, who also does a spectacular job. He's helped me a lot and has a key role. He directs the training and is with the players every day and is an excellent professional. Five stars - as a coach and as a person.

Ferguson is known for his anger - he's got the nickname hairdrier for the way he shouts to players. Already having experienced it?

(Laughs) I've been with him five years and know him well. He's a very experienced coach and has always helped me. That's the important thing.

What are the differences between soccer in England and Portugal?

In England, football is special. We want it to be a spectacle and we all have an obligation to contribute to the spectacle. The stadiums are always full and the people always encourage you. The game is faster and the players are stronger.

Are you the best player in the world?

That is always relative. There are things I do well. I scored more goals than I expected. As a team, Manchester are champions of the League and the Champions - an objective achieved after a long time. It's been a great season for me.

What is the secret of your development?

Being in a big club has helped me progress as a person and professionally. That made it all easier.

You were the Golden Boot with 42 goals, that's a lot.

I'm not a real attacker, but I try to improve my individual success. The goals will not help if our team isn't performing. My goals reflect the great era of Manchester.

Some say that Cristiano has surpassed the prestige of other 7s like Best, Robson, Cantona and Beckham.

I'm privileged. I am in a great group of players and I am honored to wear this shirt ...

Yep, sounds better. We'll see and I wouldnt be surprised if he signs a new contract soon

made me laugh reading he's a wum. i bet he's one of you cnuts having a laugh...lol

BTW, I didnt know that Ronaldo can give real sentences as answers. I always thought he can only say "team play well, give me passes, I score, I'm happy, is good for me, good for team"

I don't think anyone will dispute with you the notion that Ronaldo will still be here next season. But his conduct fecking stinks in all honesty. It is perfectly possible to get an improved deal without being a little tosser about it and constantly courting the media attention.

So Ronaldo's "courting" this media attention, is he?

As opposed to, say, certain Spanish newspapers hounding him from pillar to post, asking the same questions again and again and again?

I think we both know the answer to this one...

"I have never hid from anyone that I would like to play in Spain one day. It's a dream, but sometimes dreams don't happen.

similar quote by Figo years ago on his dream of playing in the epl:

Figo makes Premiership admission

Tuesday, 15 February, 2005

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/europe/4235299.stm

Figo admitted: "To play in the Premier League in England was a dream when I was young but we all know that dreams are not always realised."

I don`t understand why people bother getting upset with his interviews. He is asked this question in every single interview, it`s not his fault either. His answer is always the same: "I`m happy here, I want to stay. Best club for me etc. I have a dream of playing in Spain, maybe one day etc." The kid is staying. End of.

He is a smart guy, who`ll play at the club which will help him the most. He wants to be remembered as the best ever, and win trophies with a team and as an individual. THERE IS AT THE MOMENT NO BETTER PLACE TO DO THIS THAN IN MANCHESTER. He`d never go to Real or Barca at this point, we are the bigger better team.

Ronaldo is the best player in the world. Everyone wants a piece of him. He'll be giving interviews for the next 2 months now. Lot of it will be taken out of context, rehashed and lost in translation because that sells papers. Best thing is to ignore it. He will be at United next season and the season after which is all that matters for now.

Works for me.

Part of that interview. I'm not opening a new thread for it but its Nani and Ronaldo interview and coming into Portugal still singing "champions".

Nani: They congratulated me and I also gave them the congratulations for the second place. (laughter)
Journalist: Why is CR the best player of the world?
Nani: I never said CR is the best. (laughter)
Journalist: Are you going to work in the rest periods.
CR: Do you think that I need rest?
Journalist: How many somersaults you will give for a goal that you will do.
Nani: I normally give a somersault for goal.
If I will do Many goals I will give many somersaults. (laughter)

Joining the portugal squad.

Liverpool striker Fernando Torres has risked the wrath of Manchester United by urging Real Madrid to continue their pursuit of Cristiano Ronaldo.

Torres, on international duty with Spain, said: "I have seen the figures mentioned and it is a lot of money but I would tell Real Madrid, almost at any price, it would be a great deal. But that is not my decision."
