They act like kids because they are still kids. They're also rich, very talented, and have just come from the biggest victory of their lives, a victory every young footballer dreams of, all over the world. And each played a massive part in that victory. They have a right to be giddy.

Let Terry keep his stiff upper lip, I'm fine with seeing them act like children.

stay out of our business, Torres you prick.

Yeah but Torres said this when asked about the Chelsea link, this is what Ronaldo should be saying about us!

"This is my team, my city and Anfield is my pitch. I can't tell you how good I feel about playing for Liverpool.

"It is so important to me that the fans think so highly of me. It is fantastic to see my name on the shirts of our fans.

"This was only my first season for Liverpool, and I can say without contradiction I want to play better here for many more yet."

I'm quite frankly annoyed by Ronaldos inability to seem as enthusiastic.

They will be burning his shirt soon

Possibly. Torres can say all that but what does it mean if Chelsea do come in for him? It means he is a liar.

I don't really like Ronaldos whole take on it but at least he is being honest about his future. However i feel he should just come out and say he will definetely be at United next season. I think he will anyway but just to put all this silly speculation to bed.

We all know he will one day play for Madrid, Barca, Milan, whoever because he wants to and Ronaldo gets what he wants but i don't see why he would go now. Saying that i don't think United could ever get more money for him than they could right now.

Schuster: Ronaldo is still No1 priority

Despite Sir Alex Ferguson's complaints about Real Madrid's blatant attempts to unsettle Cristiano Ronaldo, Bernd Schuster has reiterated that the Manchester United star is his number one priority this summer.

Real remain confident of landing the Portugal international and coach Schuster is already looking forward to working with the 42-goal Red Devil.

Ronaldo has hinted he will sign a new contract at Old Trafford but has steadfastly refused to totally commit his future to United, while expressing a desire to wear the white shirt of Real.

"I have paid much attention to the player, to how he speaks, how he appears on the field and I have enough opinions that people who know him have contributed to me," Schuster told As.

"As a footballer, we do not have to waste time speaking of his quality. Most important was to evaluate him personally and as a professional and I must say Cristiano Ronaldo has his head straight.

"The situation is complicated for a lad of his age but it hasn't affected his form as you saw at the end of the season with Manchester.

"In this Madrid, the lad would create no problems. I see only one conflict for him - the media explosion. For the fans, it is going to be a spectacular signing like what seemed to happen with David Beckham.

"This is not England and that change will affect him. It is necessary to be intelligent to solve the problems for the boy.

"Ronaldo will be expensive and it'll be necessary to pay a lot of money but we need more because he would not be sufficient.

"It seems that everything has been stopped just a little bit due to Cristiano Ronaldo being the big priority of the club now. But we follow the market, by all means."

For feck's sake, how many times do you gimps need to be reminded, Ronaldo is negotiating a new contract!!

Torres is not.

They are not going to let this drop are they? Surely our club can't allow things to go on like this.

I'm wondering but not surprised that this can go on like this. And Ronaldo isnt the only player Madrid keep on tapping up and talking about.

Torres is not.

One big long year into his already hugely upgraded big-money contract, already 'negotiating' for another big payraise eh? That makes it alright.

Isn't it about time Torres started to mouth off to the press, he's outperformed all of the wildest expectations this year after all. Time to negotiate a new contract, been a year already.

Whether he is entitled to negotiate another contract is another discussion entirely.

But that's exactly what he's doing. Hence the non-commital interviews, hence much anguish by the more hysterical fans of Manchester United.

I don't think many players would be entitled to re-negotiate when they are only a year into their latest contract but I think that Ronaldo - after the season he's just had - probably is.

I have no idea about the details of the contract Torres signed for the scousers. He may have picked up a tasty performance-relates bonus to beef up his salary next season, hence he's able to bleat on about how much he loves the club, safe in the knowledge he's getting a hefty payrise. He may not. I couldn't give a toss either way.

Haha.....

Robinho? Yes
Ramos? Ohh yeah!
Diarra? No

Give us Casillas also + Marcelo (backup to Evra) then United can start to discuss it........omg.

You should also bear in mind it's an extension so yes more money, but more years. We're still in a strong position and I don't think anyone doubts Ronaldo will produce again

Not for me. I know he wants to stay (for now), I know he's playing games (and a few more on here probably do as well, don't belittle their intellect) because he wants a new improved contract and I dislike this very fact, great season or not.

Has any other 'superstar' in football history got a new improved contract a year after his contract's just been upgraded hugely (he was probably already on 120k or something like that)? That the club is going along with this tells me they know they have to go beyond their normal measures to keep him (for now). We don't have the great weather/food/bla bla that Ronaldo could factor in.

He'll leave one day. One or two more years.

Also, I've no problems that he doesn't commit himself to us, but to go out of his way and say this on portuguese television (confirmed by portugueezers on other forums): "My dream is to play in the Real Madrid," he told Portuguese television. “I have dreams to play in Madrid. You also have dreams, no? Then I have this one.

I had no problem with his "I want to stay, but it's up to the club" sort of crap, but I dislike the above. There's no need for that.

Fair points. But if he does get a new contract this summer it will be for the benefit of the club too. I got the impression that United are as keen to re-negotiate as he is, partly because they want to increase the buy-out clause but also because they want to include a clause to protect the club from that new ruling (Webster?) which lets players buy out their own contracts.

At the end of the day, none of us know whether this contract is being negotiated because Ronaldo asked for it or because the powers that be want to protect their most valuable asset. Seeing as we're all in the dark about this, I don't think there's any point crucifying the lad for somehow lacking in loyalty.

Tevez said the exact same thing about Boca. This comes with the territory when we sign youngsters from abroad. They grow up dreaming about playing for different clubs than British or Irish footballers. And if they admit to these dreams in an interview I'm ok with that. They're just being honest.

At the end of the day, Ronaldo could easily have signed for Real Madrid the summer after "winkergate" but didn't. That showed a lot of courage and a lot of loyalty to SAf and MUFC. Hence I'm gonna give him the benefit of the doubt when it comes to interpreting all this tedious bollox being recycled by AS and MARCA.

Totally different scenario though isnt it? Tevez has said he wants to stay at United, even 'eager' to sign a permanent contract and how he'll sign one straight away. Plus he said he wants to spend the next few years at one of the big european club before returning to Boca and he hopes that is United. I think if anything, him returning to Boca just shows how much affection he has for his old club, and one can only praise that attitude.
But for Ronaldo, you can argue that he sees Real Madrid as a bigger club than Manchester united, and his comments such as 'No one can predict the future' and 'I am at the right club for now', just seems to hint at something else. We all know that he dreams of playing in Spain yet has reiterated the fact that he wants to stay at United next season, but he would still be happy either way I feel.. if he stays or leaves, and maybe he thinks that we need him more than he needs us.

To sum up, Tevez returning to Boca is the equalivant of Ronnie returning to Sporting, and not leaving us for one of the biggest clubs in club football.

This is going to become absolute cnuting madness.

We're only a week into the off season.

Sell Ronaldo only if we get:

Robinho
Ramos
£60 million

and HALF of the profit made from matchdays at the Bernabau for 5 seasons

Manchester United winger Cristiano Ronaldo has reiterated he is happy at Old Trafford and "would love to continue" with the European champions.

The Portugal star has been persistently linked with Real Madrid by the Spanish media and has not helped quell the speculation by announcing he would make a decision on his future shortly.

In an interview with Portuguese newspaper Publico, the 23-year-old confirmed he would like to play in Spain one day but that he is currently satisfied with life in England.

"There is nothing certain at the moment," Ronaldo said. "The press always make stories about interest from other teams, not only from Madrid, also from Barcelona.

"On one hand it's good and means that they know your value as a player and think you can be a good reinforcement for other teams.

"But my head is in Manchester because it is the club that, at the moment, puts me in the best condition and that I'm happy at.

"Now, as I have said many times, only God knows the future.

"I have never hid from anyone that I would like to play in Spain one day. It's a dream, but sometimes dreams don't happen.

"I can guarantee that I am happy at Manchester United and that I would love to continue."

the fact is, the press won't let it be put to bed, which is why i don't get it when you let them get to you like this.

there is nothing to stop the press, we have endure all this shit through-out the summer until one day Ronaldo leaves.

Real Madrid prepare £150m bid to lure Cristiano Ronaldo - with Robinho, Ramos and Diarra offered to United

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...ldo--Robinho-Ramos-Diarra-offered-United.html

if Real would seriously consider such an offer, then they are clearly a badly-run club. and if we accepted it (not that we will, mind) Madrid would go on another barren run. have they learnt nothing from the Galactico era, where they loaded the team with bright attacking talent, neglecting balance to the squad? - i'm amazed about Spanish football sometimes. it's like a circus, isn't it?

You mean when Zidane, Raul, Figo, and Ronaldo tore us appart?

I think it goes the other way.

He would never have let his last act in a United shirt have been missing the penalty that cost us the Champions League. Now he can argue he has given us everything we dreamed of - now it's time to return the favour.

He will go to Spain one day. I think it's 50-50 whether it will be this summer: the spur of a new challenge where he would be the mainest of main men v the genuine chance to be part of a European Cup dynasty a la Real, Milan and, dare I say it, Liverpool.

Sir Alex Ferguson feels winning more UEFA Champions League titles will be key to keeping Cristiano Ronaldo in the long term.

Ronaldo's future is once again a hot topic for debate with Real Madrid tipped to launch a world record bid for the Manchester United winger this summer.

United boss Ferguson criticised Real's underhand tactics on Friday, but stressed his confidence that Ronaldo will still be at Old Trafford next season.

However, Ferguson has acknowledged that, two or three years down the line, United may face a greater challenge to hang on to the 23-year-old.

Following the midweek Champions League win over Chelsea, Ferguson hopes further European successes will persuade Ronaldo to stay with the club.

Big decision

"He's 23 years of age and I think that when he gets to 25, 26, he will have a big decision to make then," said Ferguson in The Sun.

"That will be the biggest task when he gets to that age.

"How big we are then, in terms of European championships, that will resonate with him and be very, very important to this club.

"That's why I make the point of winning European trophies - we've got to do better at that. And we have got the structure here."
I agree with what Ferguson says in this article. Ronaldo is always seeking new challenges, and the only way to postpone his move to Spain is keep winning important trophies - most importantly the Champions League.

Club statement

Manchester United has issued the following statement regarding Cristiano Ronaldo's future:

Manchester United has watched with growing irritation the comments attributed to Real Madrid over their alleged desire to sign Cristiano Ronaldo. The facts are:

The player is on a long-term contract and his registration is held by Manchester United
The player is not for sale

The Club will have no alternative but to report Real Madrid to the world governing body, FIFA, if it continues to behave in this totally unacceptable fashion. These public attempts to unsettle the player are completely against the regulations and the Club will not tolerate them any longer.

In addition, the Club is certain that they are a distraction for the Portuguese national squad as they prepare for the European Championships. No-one should be in any doubt that Manchester United will do everything in its power to keep its best players.
