What debate? There is no debate anymore. All this thread consists of is people rightly voicing their opinion and then you swanning in and deriding them like the self-inflated pompous twit that you are.
The fact that you're fighting what is clearly a losing battle seems to matter little to you. If you're right about Ronaldo being horribly repwesented by the big mean pwess (which you're probably not, by the way) then you're still not going to convince those that believe otherwise to see your side of things. Fans have drawn their lines, and to just accuse them of being spastic and irrational because they refuse to take your side helps no one.
Debate consists, generally, of the voicing of opinions whilst providing reasoning and evidence.
I've suggested that what Custis has done is appeal to people's emotions - and, indirectly, that that is what the tabloids have done all summer. I've suggested that what motivates the 'c*nt-callers' are those emotions rather than any sort of objective assessment of facts.
I've backed that up by showing that the verifiable facts don't show any disrespect towards the club, merely an interest in moving elsewhere. Certainly that is not an attitude of which a fan would approve, but Ronaldo is a player, not a fan. I, like some others, believe Ronaldo is being criticised mostly for not loving the club like a fan.
It's undeniable that Ronaldo has been misrepresented in the press - numerous times - the question is what effect that has on the readers' interpretations of the story. Propaganda generally, is effective whether you are aware of its nature or not, merely in a different degree (see the anti-PC campaigns - founded on misrepresentation - mostly accepted as truth - 'there's no smoke without fire!') I'll continue to stress the propaganda element of the anti-Ronaldo lobby for as long as I have the energy tbh.
If you look back you will see that the 'spastic' type remarks were originally made against Ronaldo and simply reflected back upon the original poster by myself in a manner they seemed to enjoy. Many anti-Ronaldo posters also wear their emotion/irrationality as a badge of pride (as if passion requires it) - so to accuse them of succumbing to it is surely no insult - merely a fact.
