I firmly believe that after WC 2010, the boy will finally make his move to spain. If we win a couple more trophies, I won't begrudge him at all.

Custis

And some of you siding with him, embarrassing... but then I'm not surprised by some of you.

It's a wind-up, he is probably sitting back in his office knocking one off with this thread on his monitor. Most if not all he has said has already been written in the Ronaldo thread by the same posters that are agreeing with him (which is hilarious mind), he has lifted your opinions which you are now agreeing with... because they are your opinions.

Custis hasn't got an original bone in his body.

Personally I'll never give Cuntis credit for anything - this atricle included, he's ABU through and through. Unfortunately what this whole saga has done is to give people like him more fodder to spew his anti United rhetoric and some of you are praising him for it.....I dont get it.
Maybe it is an accurate summary of how United supporters feel about Ronni and the whole saga and maybe he is a complete cnut, but hes our complete cnut for now and hearing that so called journalist state the obvious winds we up no end

Yup, apparently all of Custis past abu articles and general feckwittery has been forgiven as for the first time some posters have found some common ground with him... their dislike of Ronaldo (temporary for some, long lasting for others). Never mind Custis hatred of all things United.

I was thinking something similar to this....furthermore I can see the twat rolled up in a ball on the floor laughing his arse off thinking "I write another ABU article and united supporters are actually agreeing with me"

Because it is open. And if ts open then we might as well use it as the dustbin it is for all this stuff. Also, the postcount here would get added to that one, which, as I understand it, would make some people on this forum very happy, and get that thread closer to whatever goal it is currently working towards.

I cant see why you would be sick of that thread but rivetted by this one.

Because most of whats posted on the ronaldo speculation thread are just bullshit and the most important thing is to reach as many posts as possible. I dont see why that makes people happy.

In all honesty, there are much better posts in that thread... you just have to wade through the bullshit and I'm betting most can't be bothered. This thread is a wind-up/witch hunt...

The witch hunt brigade should listen to Fergies press conference today.

Careful reading of the exclusive interview, published on Wednesday night, in which Cristiano Ronaldo announced his decision to stay at Manchester United indicates that both the interview and decision were made up to a month ago.

At the start of the interview, conducted with Bruno Prata of the Portuguese newspaper Publico, Ronaldo is quoted as saying: "My coach was kind enough to come and see me in Lisbon a few days ago, which I think is common knowledge."

In fact, although the exact date is not known, it is understood that Ferguson met with Ronaldo during the second week of July - something which the Scot acknowledged in his response to Ronaldo's announcement when he remarked, "We knew this would be the case because I flew to Portugal some weeks ago and we cleared the air."

That Ronaldo, who made no secret of his wish to join Real Madrid, apparently confirmed he would stay at Old Trafford for another season just "a few days" after meeting Ferguson indicates that the u-turn was forced upon him by United's refusal to sell.

The delay in announcing the decision is curious but has an obvious explanation for those of a cynical mind. Releasing the interview during the week in which the forward is due to return to England would apparently signal the start of a choreographed attempt by the Ronaldo camp to win back the hearts and minds of the United supporters who have turned against their former hero in the wake of his attempts to wrangle a move out of Old Trafford.

The hitherto unknown Prata should not have required much persuading in agreeing to delay the publication of his exclusive interview: he is the husband of Manuela Brandao, an employee of Jorge Mendes, the agent of Ronaldo.

Who knows ronaldo is taking us for a ride again..
I don't think that using his phrase "a few days ago" when referring to Fergie's trip to Lisbon means that the interview was done shortly after that. It may be a translation thing. In English, if you say something happened the other day, it usually means a few days ago. But "el otro dia" in Spanish can refer to a much longer time. Spanish and Portuguese are similar, so maybe it's a similar thing.

If he wanted the interview to placate the fans he would surely have released it straight away, giving eveyone time to get over it all. He could then return a few weeks later with a lot less hostility.

It is strange therefore that it was delayed. He was either hoping for something to turn up or, more likely, liaising with the Clubs PRO to get the statement right.

To be honest, I'll just support him now in the same way I did last season.

If he's prepared to put in the effort, which he will, because he plays for himself if nothing else, then that's fine.

I've never thought of him in the same way as players like Giggs, as he's never commited himself to the cause, or stated any intention to. He was always going to bugger off to Spain sooner or later.

The disappointment was the way he chose to go about it, but he achieved nothing, other than making himself and Madrid look foolish. United held all the cards from day one, so any other outcome just wasn't possible.

I can support him as a United player still, but he's not someone I'm going to continue liking once he buggers off

What was wrong with how he went about it? He wanted to leave, which he's entitled to, he never handed in a request, and when interviewed, generally said he cannot speak about the matter etc, 'we'll see what happens'.

I think the underlying problem with many is the fact that he wanted to leave in the first place.

Man Utd expect long Ronaldo stay

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson believes Cristiano Ronaldo would prefer to extend his stay at the club rather than join Real Madrid.

After a summer saga in which the 23-year-old was continually linked with the Spanish giants, Ronaldo has publicly committed himself to United.

"Real know they are dealing with a different animal now," said Ferguson.

"As he gets older, he'll appreciate being here more. The longer players stay, they don't want to leave."

Ronaldo, who is currently sidelined through injury, has a contract running until 2012 at Old Trafford but Ferguson said he would like to extend the deal.

"Cristiano will now settle down and enjoy his career here," said Ferguson.

"He has four years left on his contract and hopefully, at some point, we would like to extend it. That's where we are.

"I can't deny it was an important issue to keep him here. There are very few players who have left me against my will and it is unusual for anybody to want to leave United.

"I think Cristiano realises that. We had a good meeting in Portugal that clarified a lot of things.

"It was good and I was pleased with it and that's why I felt everything was going to be all right."

Ronaldo gave an in-depth interview to a Portuguese newspaper clarifying his position after Ferguson had flown to Portugal to hold talks.

The winger accepted some responsibility for allowing the speculation to continue throughout the summer, although he did not rule out a move to the Bernabeu in the future.

"We're happy. Cristiano's interview was very good and he explained himself perfectly from my perspective," added Ferguson.

"As I said on Wednesday, the matter is closed and he is a Manchester United player.

"He is happy to be a Manchester United player and he has always been happy here.

"It's just unfortunate that the participation of Real Madrid in the player's life that has made it difficult for him.

"But the important thing is that we have ended all the stuff about Real Madrid."

.

Exactly. At least CnutofAllCnuts is honest enough to admit this.

Amazing how many people claim that "it was the way he handled it" without at least admitting that the main reason they are pissed off is because he doesn't love the club as much as they do.

Assuming he did know what Blatter said, Blatter said a lot of things in the "slave" interview, some of which were reasonable, some of which were mentalist. For all any of us know, Ronaldo was just agreeing with the reasonable bits.

Anyhoo, you're off. Cheerio.

I had to have one last look at the RonaldoFan website. What a laugh!!

Ronaldo not to be in Spain this summer – Is Calderon a liar?

Has anything made more noise than the Cristiano Ronaldo transfer saga this summer? This story generated so many points of views, suggestions, suppositions, and rumours and in a whole, so many debates.

Now… the soap opera is over, finally! It seems Ramon Calderon – who described himself as a ‘spectator’ – has now ‘switched off his TV’ and almost forgotten about the soap opera’s leading character, Cristiano Ronaldo .

Calderon declared that Rafael Van der Vaart was probably their last signing of the summer and that should the Dutch man impress, then the Spanish giants will stop their chase for Ronaldo.

He affirmed that it was their desire not to bring in too many players. In the last two years, the Castilians had already transferred 19 good young players to their club.

Like Bernd Schuster always used to say, getting Ronaldo from Manchester United is awfully difficult and though no official comment has yet been done, it looks like Real has failed to let Ronaldo become a Galactico.

Thinking about all the conferences that were made by Real Madrid’s Calderon during the saga, there is an impression that the President was always trying to create impressions rather than being hopeful but realistic over a Ronaldo transfer.

Back in July, Calderon assured Nadal and the Madrid Board that the Portuguese’s deal was ‘done and dusted’. With the present situation, how may one judge this declaration?

Is Calderon a liar?

Whichever, Fergie has succeeded in his fight to keep his talisman Cristiano. The Scottish man may look old and quiet but he has proven to the whole that he has the strength to defend his dignity.
