He says he is staying for the length of his contract. Great. After the first couple of games we'll be all over him again. BPITW!
He says he wants to leave now. Then feck Off. We are Manchester United!
He says he will leave next year. feck off now.
He says he loves us all and will never leave us. Legend.

He'll say something between the first and the last, that he is enjoying his time at United, and that he wants to play here...what well play out is something like #3

So, I think he'll stay and then leave next year, or leave when Fergie leaves

Maybe he'll say something at the press conference today.Or maybe not

Portugal: Ronaldo future questions off-limits

Christiano Ronaldo's club future has become a taboo subject for Portugal at Euro 2008.

Portugal's media officers refused to accept any question that deviated even slightly from the tournament at Tuesday's news conference at La Maladiere stadium in this lakeside city where the squad are based.

The Portuguese federation, announcing the news conference on their Web site (www.fpf.pt), had said it would deal 'exclusively with the national team'.

Defenders Bruno Alves and Jose Bosingwa were present but a question as to how well coach Luiz Felipe Scolari might fare in the English Premier League was rejected by press officer Antonio Florencio.

Florencio later told Reuters that if Ronaldo has a decision to announce this week as to whether he is staying at Manchester United or moving to Real Madrid it would not come out of the Portuguese camp.

'If it's going to (be announced during the tournament) I think it will come through his agent,' he said of a subject that some Portuguese reporters are saying is causing discord in the camp.

'This is the national team. We have no business dealing with such matters,' he added.

Am I the only one that has a feeling there's going to be no announcement? And Ronaldo will turn up for training in July as if nothing has happened.

The only new comment in the Spanish press is that Barca have started debating it and that Madrid think that selling Baptista (to a PL club?!) Robinho, and Soldado will raise them 60m Euros (which staggers me).

I think if Ronaldo wanted to leave United he would have told the club before flying out to Portugal, and asked them to make it possible. If that's changed then something has gone wrong.

I don't think Mendes wants this move, though obviously he'll try and get the best deal he can - and may have succeeded in getting beyond his expectations from Madrid (and below them from United). If Scolari is telling Ron that a Madrid move is worth a shot, then that's a change from 18 months ago when he was warning him against it. If Calderon has told them it's a one time offer (an obvious lie!) then I'm not surprised he's thinking about it.

I still think we're looking at
United+football Vs Spain+family+dream+money
and that may make Scolari's advice on the football side crucial because I doubt that Mendes has much to argue with unless United concede something.

I'm still wondering if Calderon made promises that he can't back up. If the press reports are right, not just about the pay but about the image rights, then it'll cause major upheaval in the dressing room. Plus, the loan that Madrid were talking about to fund the transfer fee was going to use the same merchandising revenue he's thought to have offered Ron. The Madrid fans (and board) are nervous - not surprisingly and Calderon has been doing some pretty careful backpedalling of his own (promises about other summer buys, not giving away the #7 shirt, soothing words to his senior players)

United playing it tough may be a calculation about Calderon. If not, then they've probably at least made sure that Madrid won't be offering 40m payable over the next 25 years at 0% interest and with no payments for the first 5!

That would be good
But i think there will be a lot more " I dont even promise to my mother " type quotes before then

If United are right and there aren't any changes to be made and therefore no news and no decisions to be announced then we may see exactly that. I doubt he'll want to sit in a press conference and tell them that he went after money but United called his bluff and that he's now an older, less cheerful, but wiser man. We might get a one line statement on Gestifute saying that he has a contract with Manchester United and will return for pre-season training in July and that rumours are just rumours.

This off season is going to be very fecking annoying

Yeah it is, I just thought: hey, a contract untill 2012 (?), just won the champions league, best team in Europe, good relationship with Ferguson and Carlos, friends in the team, talks about contract extension,...

And then all of a sudden, just before the CL final they start those rumours about a move to Real and everyday the same old rumours since then, causing uncertainty with the fans and perhaps within the United team.

I just want to know what he is going to do? Leave or stay, I'm at a point that I don't really give a shite either way because if he leaves now he is an ungrateful bitch.

Whether Ronaldo will go or not only he knows. All i know is that even though it might look to him that its is the right thing to do and that this is the best time to do it, he needs to consider the following.
1) RVN's presence at Real. Someone he had issues with at United.
2) The team wont play around his strengths and weaknesses as they do at United.
3) He has gotten used to the style of play in England. There is no guarantee he will be able to do the same at Real.
4) He wont have Carlos Queroz, who has been a key factor in his development.
5) He is used to handling pressure but will he be able to handle the pressure of being the 100 million Euro man?
6) Dont know if this is really important but he wont get the No 7 shirt.

All along Scolari is Pro-Spain, no? IIRC, when he was asked about the football United played, he diplomatically said they had some good players in the team.

...If Scolari is telling Ron that a Madrid move is worth a shot, then that's a change from 18 months ago when he was warning him against it...

I know this is a very far fetched theory but is it possible that Scolari is trying to get Ronaldo to go to Spain so that he wont have to worry about him in England when he takes over at Chelsea?
PS: Anyone who doesnt agree plz excuse me bcoz my imagination is going wild bcoz this ronaldo speculation is driving me crazy!

yep spot on

The Guardian's latest news:

RONALDO READY TO REALISE HIS DREAM MOVE TO MADRID

Cristiano Ronaldo appears to have made up his mind to leave Manchester United and fulfil his "dream" of joining Real Madrid. The Portugal international has informed his agent, Jorge Mendes, that he wants to play in Spain and his decision has already been outlined to Madrid, encouraging them to step up their attempts to prise him from Old Trafford. Ronaldo is being offered a salary in the region of ?150,000 a week after tax and has told his closest associates that the financial rewards, as well as the opportunity to play for a club of Madrid's prestige, are too good to turn down.

The double footballer of the year had stated on Saturday night that he would announce his decision "in two or three days" but journalists arriving at Portugal's Euro 2008 training base yesterday were informed that he would not speak to the media until Friday at the earliest. Instead, one of his associates briefed the Portuguese journalists that Ronaldo, as suspected, was hoping United would relent on their refusal to entertain the idea of negotiating a world-record transfer. Relations between the two clubs have been severely strained and the latest developments will cause intense dismay to Sir Alex Ferguson, who has been increasingly vocal in his criticism of Madrid. There is also a growing sense of foreboding about Ronaldo's motives, specifically the manner in which he has repeatedly adapted his line in a string of media interviews. Ferguson had wanted the player to hold a press conference, or, at the very least, put out a statement, committing himself to the club, but Ronaldo has made it clear he plans to do nothing of the kind.

Mendes is believed to be in almost daily contact with Madrid and looking at ways to soften United's resistance. Whether that is possible remains to be seen as United have threatened to report the Spanish champions to Fifa and Ferguson has said he would rather let Ronaldo rot in the reserves than sanction the deal. Contrary to reports, Ferguson has no plans to fly to Portugal, preferring to go on holiday to France and leave the matter to his chief executive, David Gill.

No quote, but I would say this is it now. If Madrid makes a good enough offer, I think he's off.

8) He would be a cnut.

Until Ronaldo comes out and says he's going. It's all speculation no matter how reputable the papers are.

All along Scolari is Pro-Spain, no? IIRC, when he was asked about the football United played, he diplomatically said they had some good players in the team.

18 months agom when Ron was negotiating a new contract, there were quite a few Scolari rumours kicking around in particular that if Ronaldo went anywhere - it shouldn't be to Madrid. Though that was supected as meaning that he saw Barcelona as a decent option. When the press told Ronaldo that Scolari had been quoted in the Spanish press saying, "Ronaldo should move to Spain." Ron responded with, ""He didn't say that - 100%." The certainty struck me as being the reaction of someone who'd had that exact conversation already.

I know this is a very far fetched theory but is it possible that Scolari is trying to get Ronaldo to go to Spain so that hegination is wont have to worry about him in England when he takes over at Chelsea?

No, but here's a theory for you! Scolari needs a buoyant, confident Ron for the Euros. Telling him that if he misses a penalty in a CL semi against Barcelona the Madrid crowd will have him sliced, diced, wrapped in white hankies and sold for sushi probably isn't a good idea. Telling him that he can handle a 100m pricetag, envious teammates and a cynical crowd might sound a better option.

Its just getting seriously fecking annoying. If he leaves, he leaves, United will go on and we'll retain both fecking trophies next season.

If he stays, brilliant.

Whose better then Rio or Ronaldo?! Cause i think Ronaldo is taking the piss more.

I think Ronaldo comes off worse, although its obvious Rio has redeemed himself in the eyes of many fans. The main problem i had was Rio was not that he was trying to get more money as he has the right to do so, it was the fact thet he had been paid while suspended but did not take this into account. I dont think there was any chance of him going to Chelsea as well, i never really bought into that.

The thing that annoyed me most about Ronaldo and many people forget was that he was in the headlines during our preparation for the final due to him giving open ended answers, and talking differently to the spanish press. I think our other players would have just gave a blank statement or just avoided questions in this situation whether "he is calm, everyone knows i like Spain" or not, Rio included. Ronaldo just comes across as self indulgent and egotistical im afraid.

Am I the only one that has a feeling there's going to be no announcement? And Ronaldo will turn up for training in July as if nothing has happened.
If this were the usual summer rumor mill, sure. But the usual summer rumors don't have Queiroz delivering anti-Spain diatribes in the Portuguese media, or Ferguson talking about letting our best player rot in the reserves on principle rather than sell.

I hope he does report for training in July, but showing up and acting as though nothing has happened, without ever clarifying the situation, is no longer an option.

Hmmm...it does indeed look like he ispressing for a move to Real. However, Fergie appears adamant that he will not deal with Real. If he does end up having to stay, what will the mood in the dressing room be like? At the same time, I don't want to give in to Real. But Utd tried to sell Beckham to Barcelona instead, which I am sure Fergie will try if forced, but in the end he will end up having his move to Madrid.

The thing is, I knew he would never stay with us his whole career. He helped us win the double this year, and his value will never be higher, no way will he score 42 goals again. He is an unbelievable player, whom we will find hard to replace, but this club is bigger than any player, and if we have to do without him, so be it. I think it will take us some time to replace him, but it will have to be done. As unbelievable a player as he was, there are times in every match where I find myself screaming at him for being so selfish and childish. That side of him I will not miss.

Ronaldo: I'll Leave By Next Year
Manchester United winger Cristiano Ronaldo has further fuelled rumours of his possible departure, reportedly telling his friends and family he will leave the club after next season at the very latest…

The Portuguese superstar has been heavily linked with move to Real Madrid, who have been hounding for his signature over the last few months.

The 23-year-old is yet to dismiss the possibility of a switch to the Santiago Bernabeu, although United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is confident the incumbent PFA Player of the Year will remain at Old Trafford.

But according to The Sun, the former Sporting Lisbon sensation and his agent Jorge Mendes are planning an exit strategy that would take effect next summer.

Ronaldo reportedly told his nearest and dearest: “If I don’t leave Manchester United now, I certainly will in a year.”

The Sun..

If he wants out, sell him, but take Real to the cleaners and say nothing less than £100m or you can forget it. End of.

If he does go, I don't think he'll be the hit there he thinks he'll be. One thing, would be that I don't think he'd be afforded the same sort of freedom he has at United, not to mention not having players like Scholes, Carrick, Ando, Rooney, Tevez working hard to lay those passes on for him to score.

Lest not forget than coveted number 7 shirt belonging to Real's favourite son and rumours abound that it'll be retired when Raul hangs his boots up. Not exactly what the CR7 brand needs now is it?

Believe me he'll stay. Look at the quotes from today. Inside sources, Ronaldo's friends, its all bollocks and it obviously makes a good headline. Until HE HIMSELF actually comes out and says " i want to leave United" then don't think anything of these rumours.

Plus no announcement has been made because he's not allowed to talk to the press up until friday.

Lets not start condoning him just yet people.
