ALL Ronaldo's future/comments/speculation

He does have a desire to leave and that's what he told Fergie when they met. Thing is, Fergie told him to wise up.

I'm genuinely amazed that we have people on here who still seem to think that everything's hunky dory, that Ronaldo isn't even considering a move and this whole thing has been completely fabricate by the press. I mean what the feck?

:wenger: I reckon they simply choose to see what they want to see.

But I think we established that is what he did and Fergie told him where to stick his dream.

Do you people have a transcript of the conversation? Because I don't....

There's no denying Ronaldo wants to go to spain oneday BUT ...

I think people need to stop thinking they know what's going on

So fergie tells him this and now ronaldo comes out and says oh i'll show them!? I don't think so....

pogue no offense but your missing the point.

That is infact a side issue. The point is, there is no reason to believe the validity of the quotes because 1) as are as bad as marca 2) They make up quotes and 3) have pages to fill

That is the point.

I think your underestimating peoples intelligence, some people actually try and look at all possibilities. Such as these comments are bollocks....

but according to you guys, you know exactly what was said so I guess your much better then the like of as and marca

We know he wants to go to spain, the question is WHEN. I bet you any a tagline that says 'i suck dick' we hear NOTHING on his return.

I'm not saying the new quotes are true at all. I'm just saying that it is clear from what Gill and Fergie have said since that Ronaldo told them he wanted to go and they told him it is a non-starter.

There's no denying Ronaldo wants to go to spain one day BUT ...

No, not "one day", he wants to sign for Real Madrid this summer.

He may not be allowed to leave and he may be quite happy to stay at United but if you think he wouldn't rather sign for Real, before the end of this month, then I'm afraid you're kidding yourself.

Obviously the above quote is probably bollox, created by AS as one last deseperate effort to stir things up again. I doubt Ronaldo (or his advisers) would be stupid enough to say anything so downright provocative, after being very careful to keep quiet all summer.

that only proves that he isn't desperate to move. He might fancy it, might even like it (and bear in mind his hangers on and family won't be afraid to go on about madrid)..but it's not something major now

Do you honestly think madrid wouldn't have anticipated the fact we might want to keep him? If they don't sign him it'll be because his desire to move ISN'T there as the moment

He better hurry up then :)

Pogue no one is kidding anyone. The point is signing for madrid isn't an option because we're not selling. If you keep this up then people will find it harder to forgive and they will have to in time....

If you think I or most people don't know the score then that's not our problem, but it seems to me we read the same things and none of us are in a privilaged position to actually say something original

Manchester United stars Ronaldo and Anderson hit by house key theft

31/07/2008
Cristiano Ronaldo and team-mate Luis Anderson had their house keys stolen when raiders struck at their cleaner's home.
Thieves snatched her handbag, which contained keys for both Manchester United stars' mansions in leafy Alderley Edge.
Police called to the scene in Ashton-under-Lyne, near Manchester, on Monday alerted bosses at Old Trafford, who beefed up security at the two homes.
A source said: "There is no evidence this was a targeted break-in, but you simply don't know."

The keys were later found abandoned nearby. Police said: "Inquiries are ongoing."
Ronaldo, 23, and Anderson, 20, are both out of the country

I'm with you Pogue...

Those that want him to stay baffle me. You do realize he is staying against his wishes? You do realize he's made it abundantly clear that he wants to fulfill his dream? That he doesn't give a feck about whether we praise him next season or not?

Those fans that worry about the reception he'll receive need to get out of the sand. Why would you be worried about his reception when clearly he doesn't care?

If he does stay, he'll maintain his performances until crowned World player of the year, then they'll taper off until he moves next summer, because in his eyes, he'd have nothing to prove with us anymore. I'd hate to see what tantrum he'd throw if Fergie even dared substitute him after a poor performance. And the fact that so many players have come out and stated their opinion (i.e. Giggs, Van Der Sar) shows that maybe they don't trust him anymore. If they did, they would have been more neutral and sure that he was returning.

Calderon's just watching out for number one. I'm convinced Ronnie approached them about a move, probably told them he would be able to leave with the blessings of the club. That would also explain why Madrid haven't put in a bid and are pressuring Ronnie to make it happen. Sorry, it may be hard for some to swallow on here but this whole fiasco was of Ronnie's making.

Ronnie's going to force a move. I'm sure of it. The fact that Fergie came out and said he was staying but he has since refused to confirm tells me somethings up. Maybe he has been told not to speak to the media but why would Fergie tell him not to speak to the media if the whole issue was done and dusted? Doesn't make sense. Also Madrid won't be impressed if he were to stay. He led them on all summer only to stay? Calderon's made a fool of himself, and the image of RM has taken a beating. If Ronnie doesn't go to them this summer, then I doubt they'll be back next summer, for fear of going through the whole thing again. And Ronnie knows this, hence his silence.

Is going to be an interesting August

so Sir Alex baffles you then? ...

You say you believe Ronaldo approached madrid? That is pure speculation. More like his agent or Madrid approched his agent.

Bet you Ralphies mates do some 'artwork' in his home while he is still away...

I reckon he is off, and that Sir Alex and the club have known this for a while.

Hence, the lack of transfers. I reckon Sir Alex have hoped he could get Ronaldo to change his mind, whilst also Real Madrid has to come up with an acceptable offer. They have yet made any offer whatsoever.

Also, it has suited the club to wait until the season tickets have been sold.

Kaka83, 2+2 /= 5...

I was with you for a while but then you went off on one...

As for the rest, you make United sound like amateurs...

Agree with a lot of that but I'm an optimist and I'm inclined to believe that Ronaldo will accept his lot, once he realises United won't let him leave this summer. Fergis is a stubborn cnut, he has Gill's backing and the Glazer's. If they don't want to sell Ronaldo they won't.

I reckon he will be told to stay for one more summer, to allow us plan his departure a bit better and that he can leave with our blessing in '09. Once he is clear on this, I don't have any concerns about his performances, or the team dynamics. He's a born winner and ruthlessly professional, I can't see him ever giving less than 100% on the pitch. Besides, if he doesn't perform, for the whole season, all he will be doing is jeapordising his dream move, the following summer.

If everyone at the club is aware that it's his final year with the club, I'm sure his team-mates will accept this and work together to do what they do best, win trophies.

But hey, like I said, I'm a born optimist...

Fergie hasn't always got it right Striker. And I think coming from Fergie, its more out of principle than anything. He wont criticize the player in public, but i'm sure in private, he's calling him a prick.

Ruud put in three transfer requests as we are told, but Fergie wanted him stay. We didn't win the prem until he left.

And as a sidenote, can we dump that Viva Ronaldo song please. United fans keep saying we aren't a one man team but the amount of times I heard it last season made me cringe. Tevez, Rooney, Park, Evra, Anderson, Rio, Vidic Carrick, Scholes, and Van Der Sar all deserve praise. In fact they should all have been praised extensively this summer.

even if it were true, the longer you leave it, how you gonna get a replacement?
You can't replace him with a reserve and we have to remain competitive...

no one always get's it right but again he's in the best position to know the score and the fact he wants Ronaldo to stay is all that matters. It is all that matters

Ronaldo won't let it affect his performances, he'll be as committed as he ever was and that's part of why we won't consider selling him.

Ruud was a different mentality. He wasn't playing well, he was being moody and it effected his performances being dropped.

When he was dropped, he reacted badly and we had no choice then

We also know he's easily led so once he's back mixing with the squad we'll be even more confident.

Trust in fergie.

I doubt you'll be hearing many vivas this season... unless its viva someone else...

Ronaldo can't be replaced.

United will have to alter their way of playing.

AS = Absolute Shite

So long as Ronaldo remains one of us he will get my support. Lets just focus on getting the best out of him for this coming season. Leave the distractions until next summer where we will be ready for it this time.

None of them scored 42 goals in a single season. Which is kind of a big deal, no?

I'd agree with 95% of that - surely most would. But there's nothing new there. Not having a go mate but really........for me, the main thing is, Calderon is pulling his strings. As you say, it'll be interesting (even though we're sick of it already) how it plays out with Ferg not being one to be pushed around, let alone the Glazers...and please don't tell me they can't wait to get rid and cash in because the Spics wouldn't cough up a decent fee anyway and it'll rumble on, and on.

so Sir Alex baffles you then? ...

You say you believe Ronaldo approached madrid? That is pure speculation. More like his agent or Madrid approched his agent.

I suppose by Kaka83's logic, Zidane approached Real for a move and Kaka approached them for a move last summer etc
The fact is Real Madrid have wanted Ronaldo for years and they knew it was never going to be easy to get him, so they used the same tactics they always use when trying to sign a big name player.
Declare the interest in the player.
Say you want them to be the new face of the Bernebau
Tell the club they can't keep a player that wants to go.
Go on about how much they will pay the player if he comes
Say they will be your top priority signing
Tell them they have achieved all they can at their club and they won't come for them again.

Do those six steps over and over again which Calderon has done and eventually a player which has a dream, is going to become unsettled.
Like SAF said, they try the same tactics all the time. They have seen that it worked for Zidane etc, so hoping it will work for Ronaldo

Ronaldo: I'm Joining Real Next Week

Cristiano Ronaldo has sensationally told Spanish newspaper 'AS' that he will be joining Real Madrid, and will next week travel to Manchester to notify Sir Alex Ferguson that he is leaving the English and European Champions.

The actual AS article in question is at:
http://www.as.com/futbol/articulo/cristiano-arreglare-semana-viene/dasftb/20080731dasdaiftb_45/Tes

Ron hasn't spoken to them. Their claim is that Ron sent a message via Mendes to Calderón and Mijatovic that is supposed to have included the words - "Don't worry. I'll sort it our next week. I will go to Manchester and I will tell them that my only desire is to play at Real Madrid and that the decision is non-negotiable ".

Now, if there's one thing I've noticed during this saga, it's that quotes seldom survive intact. Particularly quotes being leaked by people close to the Madrid board.

AS articles don't even surviive being quoted on goal.com

.

Yes and the reason we didn't was nothing to do with the quality of the players in the squad then, compared to the quality of the players in the squad now was it

Thankyou for clearing that up

but haven't they learnt after Tevez :mad:

Pogue, i'm neither an optimist or a pessimist. I'm a realist, and I say it as I see it.

Ronnie in all events would probably end up staying, but that really depends on what he's communicated to Madrid. I can't be mad at Calderon because it seems that Ronnie's led them on to believe that he could force his way out. Hence his statement about the player and the club in argument about his release, and him still genuinely believing he can still sign the player.

Ronnie's dug himself a hole, and to be honest, I think he'd do anything to appease Madrid as he probably doesn't want to ruin any chance of going there. He probably feels United owe him, hence his nonchalance about the fans that sing his name every week.

As for his performances, Ronnie was quite inconsistent before WC06 and I imagine he'll go back to that, but maybe not quite as bad. If he's been allowed to go next summer (which I think would be a stupid compromise) then he'll want to avoid injury and definitely not try as hard because he's already been guaranteed his move.

Actually, I was wandering where I had heard similiar words before and I think it was AS last year that claimed Kaka had texted Galliani and said 'President I have done all I can in the Milan jersey, please listen to Madrid'. I remember reading it at the time and laughing at how ridiculous it was
